Tokyo: Rabbit Officer and Her Evil Partner

Chapter 439: Bathing Together_4

"Deal." Taira Sakurako accepted the task.

Fushimi Roku suddenly looked up, frowning. This guy was getting paid twice for one job; it was truly unethical and deserved condemnation!

But with Minamoto Tamako still beside him, he couldn't bring up the employment of child labor at the moment. He only kept it in mind, planning to criticize it when he got the chance.

"Alright, the dishwashing issue is settled now," Minamoto Tamako sat down nearby, poured herself a glass of iced barley tea, stretching her smooth legs clad in white socks, "You don't have anything serious to do anyway, let's continue the detective game!"

"Really? Look at what I'm holding," Fushimi Roku raised the music box parts.

"Playing with toys doesn't count as serious business." Minamoto Tamako tried to show her mature side, "I don't play with such toys, they're boring. Mature adults only focus on self-improvement."

Fushimi Roku said, "Then what about all those dolls on your bed? And that watermelon helmet, I can't even be bothered to talk about it..."

"If you can't—can't be bothered, then don't say it!" Minamoto Tamako, embarrassed, drank three large gulps of iced barley tea, trying to steer the conversation back to the murder case.

Unfortunately, Fushimi Roku had already given up on deducing.

He was here on vacation, to meet his girlfriend's parents, not to work like a horse. Even if Kujo Mutsumi talked brilliantly, he had no intention of continuing the investigation.

Just bluff through it. Who hasn't bluffed their in-laws?

But Minamoto Tamako didn't think that way. She still felt the responsibility to rescue the Kujo Family was on her, and concerning the reputation of the Kujo Family's heir, she had to get to the bottom of the truth.

So the two chatted intermittently, mostly with Fushimi Roku half-heartedly assembling the music box and Minamoto Tamako rambling on her own.

Fushimi Roku, running out of patience, had to use his trump card to shut her up: "By the way, where did you get those two ticket receipts? Aren't they crucial evidence? How come you have them?"

Minamoto Tamako was immediately at a loss for words, stuttering and unsure how to respond.

Fushimi Roku smoothly provided her with an excuse: "You didn't go and ask the restaurant owner, did you? I heard some restaurants print two receipts, one for the customer and one as a spare."

"Yes, yes, that's exactly it." Minamoto Tamako broke into a cold sweat but didn't learn her lesson, still speaking beside Fushimi Roku, "I'm planning to go inquire again tomorrow, maybe I'll find some clue."

"Where to investigate?" Fushimi Roku asked.

"Check with the victim's family, they must know about the deceased... Oh right, the wife is a foreigner, so I'll just have to ask her friends," Minamoto Tamako said.

"It's not even your case, why are you so invested?"

After speaking, Fushimi Roku completed the assembly, winding the music box which emitted a tinkling chime of music.

"We are criminal police, partners of justice. How can we pretend not to see innocent people dying unjustly?" Minamoto Tamako declared righteously, "As a detective, one must have the resolve to uncover the truth above all!"

Fushimi Roku nodded, expressing his agreement.

Since Minamoto Tamako was so enthusiastic, the scapegoat plan would be shelved for now!

Let Minamoto Tamako investigate by herself for a few days. If she found nothing, he would step in.

Fushimi Roku had made up his mind, quickly tossing the matter aside and just as he was about to get up to shower, Minamoto Tamako followed him. She held the bathroom door, with a look as if she wanted to say something but hesitated.

"What?" Fushimi Roku glanced sideways, "You want to shower with me?"
