Chapter 41 – An exceptionally uneven match up pt II (W)

The appearance of the notoriously angry one, Bompeeyo, struck true terror into the hearts of the remaining soldiers that remembered all too well what happened last time he made an appearance.

Whilst the rest of the world only heard part of the story, a few of the guards were there that day when he smashed all the turrets afterwards and booted the main gates off towards the Western Sea.

Nobody knew who severed the power to the stove this time. They were grateful for it though. Bompeeyo stared at the man, slobbering as he did so. He clicked his six digits together as if he was going to play a giant piano; CRUNCH sounds caused the windows below to shatter from how loud it rang out. Shards of glass scattered down around the castle ground, but no harm came from it.

"This is a good time to try and recover a little. Come on." Whispered Rhua, who picked up Wardi with a helping hand from Lucy moving off to the sides.

Wardi groaned from exhaustion and embarrassment as his friends aided him away to the other side. He couldn't afford to be too vocal though. He was still unable to fully break free of the paralysing fear.

Bagu and Lumra on the other side, had tried to drag Captain Edward away in a last-ditch attempt as well. The trio could see it was out of respect for a fallen man, not some fool's attempt at hopeful resurrection prayers; he was not the man in the trench coat in front of them.

Vicious blades whirred and rotated as if ready for something as the stare-down dragged on.

The man in the trench coat spoke with a tongue that was unfamiliar but one that Bompeeyo reacted strongly to.

["It has been a long time since I have had the displeasure of encountering your kind, Colissian. Though I must say I've yearned for the day to face one of you in combat. Your master was a fool to send you here."]

[You dare to speak ill of our master and, in Lissic of all tongues, to a refugee of the exodus, have you no shame!?] Bompeeyo's indecipherable words boomed around everyone.

This was a new experience for all present in the area. The language of the Colossians hadn't been spoken in many years. Far longer back than even the kingdom had been here.

["It is the oath of the dawn to push back against foreign filth. You and the likes of those two over there. (He looked at Wardi and Rhua.) The sight of you makes me sick.]

"Uh, why did he just look at us specifically?" Rhua's trembling was causing Wardi to lose balance, needing both his friends to help him stay upright. "No idea, but hopefully he's not going to start swinging at us again." Stuttering words out from his pain.

Bompeeyo laughed a heavy bellow that made his wobbling, grotesque gut bounce up and down. He slapped it heartily, which sounded like a very large cannon firing with a KABOOM, before returning to engaging in the conversation.

[Yet you seem to have bothered learning the tongue of my people. How interesting!]

[A necessary skill should the need ever arise to berate you. The good Lord knows that we would love nothing more than to wipe all eight of you from the land. I, Gwyn Daniels of the Dawn, shall send you back to your maker, outsider.]

[I'd like to see you try BOY.]

It felt as if the whole world was going to split in two as Bompeeyo's raging stomp sent shockwaves across the ground. Even the man in the trench coat was struggling to maintain his balance. Attendees were thrown up in the air as shockwaves turned to rippling. The castle walls began to fall apart. Patches of bricks fell to the floor and piled on top of each other in pieces.

Gwyn's swords disappeared far quicker than they had and aimed at Bompeeyo's head. His reaction speeds were even more impressive, as with a slight head tilt at the last minute the blades whirled past, and he lunged in towards Gwyn, catching him by surprise. Gwyn appeared to throw a scroll in the air, which tore and began coating him in a metallic skin. A quick blade retrieval and reflex brought his blades rotating out in front of him, which were met by a fist that was wider than he was.

Noises like screeching metal against metal drowned out any other sounds in the area. The trio in pain desperately tried to cover their ears and block the sounds out. Wardi fell backwards onto the floor unconscious; the fatigue was too much for him.

"Rhua, this hurts so much, I can't handle it!" "Keep your ears covered, Lucy; that's all you can do right now," Rhua tried to cover Lucy for some extra padding, but it barely made a difference against the intensity of the noise.

Bompeeyo's angry face turned into one with a fatal smile as he bared his teeth at the same time. Furious, Gwyn wanted to, in his mind, rip it off and feed it to him.

Disgusting, filthy creatures plaguing our lands. Whilst his blind hatred filled him. He had certainly met his match. His next attack took a multidirectional approach at different sides and angles, and he poured an unfathomable amount of Kaha into them.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.

[Let's see you dodge this!] Gwyn shouted aloud. The blades spun with such ferocity that trees were being uprooted on the other sides of the courtyard walls from the wind generation. Unfazed by what he saw, Bompeeyo simply stood there waiting and grinning patiently.

As if to say. 'You get one chance; try and impress me.' Gwyn unleashed the attack, and the blades struck in a flash. Loud thudding was heard, and seven blades bounced down to the floor. Gwyn found himself in a state of shock. Unable to comprehend how his attacks couldn't hurt him.

Bastard. I was not prepared for his durability. I'm left with no choice now. He pulled out the clay-like pot and inhaled the contents. Thick black vapour rose up and began changing him. Gwyn grew triple in size, and wings sprouted from his back. Angelic white wings radiated across the courtyard. The feathers that fell burned the ground where they landed with radiant fire.

"This is an amazing thing to experience. I've never seen a fight like this." With a tone of amazement, Rhua spoke in awe. While she took damage being pelted into the wall from the shockwave, it was still impressive seeing a Colossi fight against a fool that dared to fight one.

Lucy wasn't sure how to feel; she didn't feel safe regardless of who won. Both in her eyes were dangerous in their own way, and she wanted to tell her friends that. "Bompeeyo is the lesser of two evils here; let's hope he wins."

Wardi managed to regain consciousness as the attack occurred. Seeing the charged-up attack fail to do any damage at all, Wardi could not help but say, "Blades like that could drop any of the high rankers in one shot; the Colossi really are different from us." His companions in awe agreed silently in their minds.

Gwyn flew upwards, raining corrosive feathers that began to burn away the bodies of fallen soldiers. Unbothered by denying the proper burial rites of the dead. Fucking asshole Wardi thought, watching it happen.

His regular weapons were smelted in his hands, and a steaming ball of white, dripping liquid spun around slowly, forming a new weapon. A simple golden mace, which he held with two hands.

The trio ran around the other side of the wall to try to get some distance and whatever protection they could against another round of shockwaves.

[Yes. With this power I can defeat the likes of you filth.] Gwyn shouted. Continuing to speak in the unfamiliar language.

With eyes glossed over and no more remains of his former self. Gwyn readied himself to attack again. As if it just reached Mach ten, he boomed a great hole in the castle walls from the force generated flying at Bompeeyo. Bompeeyo simply caught the attack and took the weapon away.

Shocked at what just happened, Gwyn did not know how to react. His mind raced with a feeling he himself had never known…terror.

[Where's all that arrogance gone now, GWYMP? It seems you underestimated me.]

[This cannot be. Why is a member of the Rising Dawn so weak to such a despicable beast like you? IT IS NOT RIGHT!]

[I'm afraid, that you are not good enough to win this, my little racist friend.]

Bompeeyo cackled like an airship engine taking off, not before Gwyn attempted to strike once again in a feeble, angry outburst.

His radiant punches slammed into Bompeeyo over and over, but nothing could harm him. For a Colossi is no beast. It is a person just like Gwyn and the trio. An extraordinary person that dwells among the others that share the world of Maliterr.

Well, you tried your best. He spoke in the common tongue.

Bompeeyo chinned (head-butted) Gwyn to the floor with such a blinding ferocity and force that an explosion came from it. The impact as he slammed into the ground fully toppled the castle and scattered dirt miles up and into the sky. The last remaining bricks of Castle Un Nom Générique fell.

Bompeeyo launched his hand into the pile, digging for Gwyn. Ruffling around, he eventually grabbed hold of him holding him by a single wing. He was completely unconscious with blood pouring from all over. Hanging in there by a thread.

"I know I said I'd chin ya to the moon, but this method will have to do instead."

He dropped Gwyn and wound up his leg. With a not-so-gentle tap that shattered every bone to pieces in his body, Bompeeyo blasted him up into the sky towards the 1st moon.

"Don't touch my FUCKING STOVE… WANKERS!"

Bompeeyo crouched down and jumped away from the castle grounds in a single leaping motion. Surprising everyone, a lack of sound in the distance occurred.

Gwyn being propelled at impossible-to-register speeds towards the moon. Slowing down by familiar faces he knew so well. Cloaked in dark and lurking in the cold caves of the 1st moon, a figure stepped forward. Black and white dress shoes adorned his feet.

[Brother, you did well to face that thing alone. Victory was yours if it hadn't intervened.]

Sputtering blood in his arms and returning to his normal self. Gwyn responded, ["Forgive me brothers. I do not deserve to still live. I have failed the oath!] He shouted aloud.

[Rest for now, brother; the dawn rises again tomorrow.] An Art began to heal Gwyn as he was carried away into the cold and empty caves of the 1st moon.

"That was both amazing and terrifying. He didn't even use anything special either. Colossi are incredible." Wardi could barely contain his excitement at witnessing such an awesome display of power differences.

"What a mess this has turned into, though. BAGU LUMRA, ARE YOU ALRIGHT OUT THERE?" Rhua shouted as she began climbing piles of rock and dirt, trying to get back into the courtyard.

"JUST ABOUT, BUT LUMRA WAS KNOCKED OUT IN THE CASTLE FALLING APART." Bagu replied loudly despite his lack of energy.

Soldiers that were still making their way to the castle began to pour in with supplies from the outposts. Handing them out in gestures of goodwill is a warming and admirable sight after such a tragedy.

Rhua passed along potions to her friends, then continued over to Bagu. As she got closer, she spoke to him with a soft and gentle tone, "I'm sorry about Edward. He was a good man and didn't deserve to go out in such an awful way."

It was well received and a comfort to what happened. Bagu lifted up Lumra and Rhua poured a rejuvenation potion into his mouth whilst taking out wakey-wakey salts from her inventory. Waking up with a groan as they were waved under his nose.

"God, those burn the nostrils. I'll be smelling that for a while."

Rhua laughed, then responded by saying, "They work well, though, eh?"

It was a site of pure chaos. Absolutely nothing remained here that wouldn't have to be repaired.

"I hope the others are faring better on their side." Wardi stared at the soldiers trying to clear the area, and Lucy responded to his words. "I'm sure they're doing fine; I think we drew the short straw. Their turn next, though!" A joke that formed a faint smile on Wardi's face.

"Well, aren't ya a sight fa sore eyes mun? An tha joke wuz awful."

"Agreed butty, never fucking say that again, low rank."

Wardi and Lucy instantly recognised the voices, turning around to see their good friend Barry Bernard. In a surprising group of comprising Emcee Wotters, Stonker Frank, Curly, and the Aqua Art specialist Glad Laks rank 8.

Rhua, having noticed who just turned up, shouted out to them.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE!?"
