Half a month later.
In the central district of the Ancient Royal City, inside a barely intact building, a girl with a dusty face, clutching a backpack, cautiously peered her head out of a broken window, carefully observing the situation outside.
What met her eyes was a familiar yet strange sight—streets that still bore the shadows of the once Capital, but at this moment, all the buildings had turned into ruined rubble.
Bodies lay fallen everywhere in the devastated city, the air filled with the stench of decay and death, as the violent magic elements eroded the lingering life, creating an apocalyptic scene.
No matter how many times the Noble Lady had seen this scenery in the past half month, she still couldn't get used to it.
She pressed her lips tightly, clutching the hem of her tattered clothes, but eventually forced herself to avert her gaze, quickly surveying her surroundings. After confirming there were no Winged People or Magic Creatures in sight, she took a deep breath and recited a spell chant in a low voice.
With the gentle ripple of magic, her steps became silent and light. She then quickly walked out of the building and began to jog deeper into the Royal City.
After passing through several streets, the surroundings began to change. Though still in a state of ruin, it was noticeably different from the previous areas.
The mottled patterns on the walls and the remnants of carvings between the stone bricks bore the traces of time.
This was the original central district of the Ancient Royal City, while the previous area was the part of the Capital that had been relocated here.
After running into an ancient and dilapidated palace, the Noble Lady finally let out a sigh of relief. She stopped, caught her breath for a moment, and then sat down, leaning against a tall stone pillar.
She placed the backpack on her lap and eagerly opened it to reveal a small amount of food collected from this adventure.
1. Bread♛
2. Canned food

The Noble Lady took out a hard piece of bread, dusting off the dirt.
This was a long strip of bread air-dried by special techniques, containing a large number of nuts, as hard as a wooden stick, which allowed it to resist decay in harsh environments.
Although there was a lot of such long-preserving food at the border, she had never eaten anything so low-grade, even while traveling home and eating outdoors.
But at the moment, she had no choice, only able to sigh lightly.
"The food available nearby is getting scarce. Influenced by the magic elements here, the magic arrays preserving food are starting to fail, and fresh things are rotting much faster..."
The Noble Lady chanted a spell, conjuring a ball of clear water, which boiled within seconds, soaking the bread to soften it, then bit into it piece by piece. The convenience of being a mage was apparent.
"It's still really hard... Feels like my teeth are coming loose... wouldn't they fall out soon?"
And it tasted sour.
The girl, still in her growth period, worriedly covered her cheek.
Half a month ago, she was transferred here by what seemed to be the head of the Black Gate, directly landing in the central district of the Ancient Royal City.
There were no other magic creatures in this area, and the Winged People wouldn't come near. After adapting to the high concentration of magic elements here, it became the Noble Lady's safe zone, and she was forced to begin her survival journey.
Both water and fire could be solved with magic, and with these two, basic survival was ensured.
Though there were almost no other resources in the Ancient Royal City, the part of the Capital that had been relocated here was different. As long as she made a trip out, she could fill her backpack and last for more than a week.
At least in this half month, she never really went hungry.
But she was well aware that others transferred here were not as fortunate as she was.
Whether it was luck, or the Key of Transformation intended it, allowing her to land unharmed in the Central District, it didn't mean there was any safety in the transfer.
In fact, the transfer itself was filled with malice, and the process of relocation was extremely unstable.
During the transfer, some people were directly killed by spatial oscillations, and the survivors suffered varying degrees of injuries. Even without visible trauma, they felt intense dizziness and nausea afterwards, faced with thin air at high altitude, and the extremely harsh environment of the demon cloud layer filled with magic elements.
Those who couldn't adapt often died within hours. Even those with some capability, the Professionals, became very weak.
In such circumstances, they had no choice but to face the raging demons and various bizarre magic creatures in the city.
Normally, Professionals wouldn't easily lose to ordinary Winged People. But after being weakened by the transfer, they appeared like lambs to the slaughter before the enemy.
Even if some Professionals could barely withstand the attacks, most of them lacked the means to escape this floating city of ruins above the clouds, forced to run desperately like beasts trapped in a cage.
Only a very few true powerhouses managed to overcome numerous adverse factors, either escaping the Royal City or choosing to stay and provide shelter to other survivors.

But whether those who successfully escaped or those providing shelter, relative to the thousands relocated here, it was only a drop in the ocean.
The Noble Lady had lost count of how many times she witnessed death in this short time, to the point where her heart began to feel numb.
She once tried to lead other survivors deeper into this safe zone to avoid the Winged People's pursuit. But the severity of the magic element environment in the central district was several orders of magnitude worse than the outskirts. Ordinary people would only die quicker upon reaching here.
