In the Dao Nether River, constructed from Buddha Power by the Boat Monk, he understood that if he were dragged into the river, the ghost-like Lady Guan could teach him what it means to control the water domain as a Bitter Ghost.
Facing the crisis of being dragged to the riverbed, the Boat Monk again used his pole to support against the water, seizing the momentum of the waves to climb upwards continuously.
Upon reaching fifty zhang, the Boat Monk clearly felt that the Red Coffin Lady's red robe's pull had reached its limit, and the two were in a stage of wrestling.
If Lady Guan won this wrestling match, the Boat Monk would be eternally doomed to the bottom of the Nether River, with no hope of rising again. If the monk won, he could break the red robe and soar freely in the high sky.
Neither side could afford any mishaps,
and the Boat Monk also focused his mind on this wrestling match, but he did not expect—Lord Jian had already shot the third arrow early on, aimed fifty zhang into the sky.
An arrow suddenly appeared from the back of the Boat Monk's head, piercing through with thunderous force.
As soon as the arrow drew blood, the inscriptions of the Daoist talisman on the arrow rapidly took effect, nailing his Divine Soul, according to the flow of his body's acupoints, into his body.
"Come down."
Lady Guan took hold of the red robe and pulled the Boat Monk into the Nether River, with the remaining eight coffins all shattering, eight wandering corpses appeared in the water, frantically gnawing at the monk.
The Boat Monk never expected—he would one day die in his own Nether River.
...
"The Holy Buddha is eternal."
Though the interactions between the Boat Monk and the Red Coffin Lady, Lord Jian occurred over several encounters, all these encounters happened within the span of fleeting moments, in reality only several instants.
The Mo Ya Monk witnessed his junior brother "Boat" fall, desiring to lend a hand, yet wary of Zhao Wuya in front of him, unable to rescue him.
"Mo Ya Demon Monk, shall we continue the game or not?"
Zhou Xuan, whose nerves were taut all day, relaxed slightly with the arrival of Zhao Wuya's "rebirth" and the fall of the Boat Monk.
The Mo Ya Monk made a "bestowal hand seal" towards Zhao Wuya, saying, "My three fellow brothers and I, before this journey to Mingjiang, observed this state, and saw the abundant Buddha energy. I surmise this Buddha energy might originate from the Ancestor Tree in Jing Country, an Ancient Buddha lost for countless years, or from the twenty-one Great Zen Masters under him.
Out of reverence for the Ancient Buddha, the four of us brothers used the bestowal method, asking the source of the Buddha energy…"
"Now, you need not ask. I am right before you. As the Ancient Buddha faced decline, he dispersed his Buddha energy and divided it into twenty-one Zen.
Twenty-one Zen is the Ancient Buddha; the Ancient Buddha is twenty-one Zen."
Zhao Wuya smiled and said, "I am Master Wu Ya among the Twenty-One Zen. Mo Ya Monk, let us dispense with the idle talk. Please make your move."
"Before making a move, there is one thing I don't understand."
"Please ask."
"The Ancient Buddha and our Buddha Country share the same root and origin. Just from the Buddha energy, we can perceive this. Currently, as the Thirty-Three Heavens of the Buddha Country have collapsed, we seek a realm to rebuild the Thirty-Three Heavens. Jing Country, with its abundant Buddha energy, is most suitable for reconstruction.
As a Zen master, why help Jing Country now?"
Originally belonging to the Ancient Buddha of the Buddha Country, why favor Jing Country now,
is what the Mo Ya Monk could not comprehend.
"Sharing the same root and origin does not mean sharing the same mind and virtue. The Ancient Buddha attained enlightenment under the Bodhi Tree in Jing Country's Reincarnation Snow Mountain and from then on, achieved a thorough understanding, nurturing Jing Country's Incense Fire Divine Dao, becoming the Buddha of Jing Country.
If the Buddha of Jing Country does not aid the people of Jing Country, that would be unreasonable."
said Zhao Wuya.
"The Thirty-Three Heavens of the Buddha Country includes four Natural Heavens, four Sinful Heavens, four Buddha-Famed Heavens, four… and the last one is the Ultimate Heaven of the Holy Buddha. Once the Thirty-Three Heavens are fully established, the Holy Buddha King Mijiaxun will truly descend upon Jing Country… I plead for the Holy Buddha, to grant twelve of the heavens to the Ancient Buddha, not needing the Ancient Buddha or the Twenty-One Zen to act against the major Heavenly God Level entities in Jing Country, just to remain uninvolved, how about it?"
The Mo Ya Monk was attempting to negotiate a surrender.
"You people of the Buddha Country indeed have some spirit, yet this spirit is one of muddled air, with bones of lesser quality."
Zhou Xuan, with hands behind his back, sneered.
Encountering those weaker, the people of the Buddha Country indulge in mockery and derision capabilities, clearly engaging in slaughter yet elevating themselves to the level of a Savior, sparing this one and sparing that one,
but when facing those stronger and unable to deal with them, they resort to flattery and sycophancy, offering "gifts" and "seeking roots and ancestors" …
"Fawning on the powerful always entails oppression of the weak, truly without a single bit of fault."
The Mo Ya Monk's face was indeed thick-skinned, unmoved by Zhou Xuan's words, but instead gazed at Zhao Wuya with anticipation.
Zhao Wuya's demeanor today was unlike usual, just slightly nodding, said: "I am Mirror Person Master Wu Ya of the Ancient Buddha but also Dragon Seeking Taoist Zhao Wuya,
In the name of Master Wu Ya, I answer you— The Ancient Buddha never contended, and Jing Country houses ten trees, all very wondrous, among which nine are Ancestor Trees, lofty as the Heavenly Dome. Only the Ancient Buddha Bodhi Tree, a small one, resides in a mountain hollow of the Reincarnation Snow Mountain, seeking neither full sunlight nor pursuing gentle spring breezes, nor harboring intent to occupy any state.
Even before the Ancient Buddha's differentiation, he refrained from contention to this degree, now dispersed into Twenty-One Zen, becoming more enlightened and perceptive, how could he covet those twelve heavens?"
Zhao Wuya's tone shifted as he said: "I also answer you in the name of Zhao Wuya— you Buddha Country Demon Monk, go back to wreak havoc in your Buddha Country. If you come to our Jing Country to divide the land, if we don't pull your heads off to kick as balls, it would seem we have no heroes in Jing Country."
