"Hi everyone!" a cheerful feminine voice followed, the mistletoe on the cloud rustling as if waving to them. "You can call me Miss Misty. I'm Lapin's assistant, and I can speak with you thanks to this treasure cloud."
Anda couldn't hold back a small smile as she rolled her eyes. Senior Lapin was being playful again, just like when she and Tamina first encountered him. Back then, his antics had been far more intense. She honestly thought her life was in danger at one point, caught in the game of a powerful and unpredictable entity.
Leyvi tilted his head, genuinely puzzled. "So you're really the artifact spirit. But wait, I've never heard of an artifact spirit having an assistant before. Aren't the artifact spirits themselves the assistants to their owner?"
His gaze shifted to the mistletoe. Something about her voice tugged at his memory. Familiar. Oddly familiar. His brows furrowed as pieces clicked together in his mind.
Wait a minute… That voice. It sounded just like the mystical one he heard back in the forest. Could it really be her?
His mind replayed the moment in the misty mountain, where the voice had seemed to whisper from all around him. Back then, he thought it must have been some strange demonic insect. He hadn't even considered the mistletoes scattered all over the mountain.
Could it be? Was she really that voice?
"Leyvi, they are messing around. Don't listen to them. Senior Lapin isn't an artifact spirit," Anda said calmly, her lips curving slightly as though amused.
"Eh? It was a lie?" Leyvi's eyes widened in surprise. He did not expect to be the one getting trolled for once. After all, he had been the one doing all the teasing recently.
Dastan grinned from ear to ear. He laughed inwardly, feeling immense satisfaction at this turn of events. Daa hahaha! Take that, Leyvi. How does it feel to be on the receiving end for a change?
"Kekeke! Human Anda, you really know how to ruin the fun," Lapin complained, his voice still light with amusement.
Anda ignored his playful tone and turned to address the group. "Everyone, Senior Lapin is actually a Celestial Cloud Rabbit. He is a King Level Demonic Beast who has awakened the Celestial Cloud bloodline. This allows him to create and control celestial clouds with special abilities. These clouds can fly freely without being restricted by any prohibition. As for Miss Misty, I am not familiar with her yet. She is Senior Lapin's new friend."
"What? A King Level Demonic Beast?!" Dastan's voice came out louder than intended, his expression frozen in disbelief.
His mind struggled to process this revelation. In the Protogaea Continent, King Level Demonic Beasts were known for their terrifying power and unpredictable tempers. They did not show kindness to humans, and even other demonic beasts often avoided provoking them. Cultivators in the Soul Transformation Realm would never dare to challenge one casually, knowing the risk of being crushed like ants.
Yet here one was, floating beside them and laughing freely as though it had not a care in the world. This was the first time Dastan had ever witnessed such a thing.
"A King Level Demonic Beast? Is that higher than General Level? Holy! How strong is Senior Lapin? Is he the strongest in this world?" Leyvi asked, his eyes sparkling with childlike excitement. His reaction stood in sharp contrast to the crown prince's earlier shock.
"The strongest in the world? Not even close," Lapin replied with a chuckle that carried a hint of self-deprecation. "As much as I wish I could claim that title, the strongest creature in this world right now is that tree. I can only hide far away from it. If I get too close, it will kill me without hesitation. Kekeke!"
Unlawfully taken from Royal Road, this story should be reported if seen on Amazon.
To emphasize his point, Lapin rotated the celestial cloud, shifting Leyvi's line of sight until the colossal tree came into view on the distant horizon. Its vast form towered over everything, as if piercing the heavens themselves.
"Eh? That tree is the strongest? Don't tell me it's a demonic plant! Holy! So a demonic plant can grow that big?" Leyvi's voice rose with astonishment as he stared at the impossibly huge figure. For some reason, it never crossed his mind that the colossal tree he saw almost every day was a demonic plant.
This time, it was a gentle, feminine voice that answered him. "Most enlightened plants do not grow to such sizes. It depends entirely on their species."
Leyvi and the others turned their attention to the mistletoe in the center of the cloud. The delicate rustling of her leaves seemed to match the calmness in her tone.
"That tree is likely gigantic by nature," Misty continued. "Take me, for example. I was originally a small plant. Even if I enlarged my real body to its maximum, I still would not be much bigger than I am now. However, there are species with innate powers that allow them to increase their size dramatically. But even then, such forms tend to drain their energy quickly, and they eventually return to their normal size. That colossal tree, however, has been that size for as long as I can remember. It must be its original form."
"I see… but why would it kill you, Senior Lapin?" Leyvi asked, his curiosity deepening. The thought of having the strongest creature in the world actively seeking your death sounded far from pleasant.
"Kekeke. Let me tell you something about that tree." Lapin's tone turned slightly heavier as he began recounting what he had once shared with Anda. He spoke of the colossal tree's terrifying power, how it had driven humans in this world to extinction, and how its next evolution would eventually bring destruction to everything. He also shared his plan to migrate to their world to escape this fate. At one point, Lapin even described the view of outer space he had glimpsed when the goddess had shown it to him, his voice briefly carrying a sense of awe.
As they talked, Lapin did not take them directly to the mansion. Instead, he flew the celestial cloud leisurely around the island, letting them take in the sights and recognize the landscape. The group observed the dense jungles, steep cliffs, and quiet beaches as they drifted along at a gentle pace.
Some time later, Lapin's tale came to an end.
"What a crazy tree," Leyvi muttered, his brows furrowed as he tried to process it all. "It actually wiped out the humans here and wants to destroy the whole world. And it's even the reason we can't fly in this place? Seizing and controlling a part of the world's law… that's unbelievable power."
"Kekeke! That is why I need your help, human Leyvi," Lapin said with a chuckle, though there was a rare trace of seriousness in his tone. "You have the strongest spiritual sense among all the people I have found so far. If your spiritual imprint weren't strong enough to remain in my sea of consciousness later, then it would be over for me. My migration plan would fail completely."
Before Leyvi could respond, another voice spoke up. It was Dastan, his tone light but carrying an unexpected conviction.
"Senior Lapin, this junior believes your plan will succeed. Although Leyvi here is a bit of a country bumpkin, his spiritual sense is without question top tier. If he cannot pull this off, then this junior doubts anyone else in this realm could do better."
Leyvi blinked, taken aback for a moment. He had not expected Dastan of all people to vouch for him so directly.
"Don't worry, I am already convinced," Lapin said with a chuckle. "I saw it myself when he defeated the commander-level demonic jaguar by relying on his spiritual pressure to turn the tables. That was such a great display of power. He almost died during that fight, and at the time, I was worried as well. But even if I wanted to help, I could not because I was not there personally. In the end, his spiritual pressure saved his life and let him kill the beast. Amazing! Kekeke!"
"What?? He killed it?" Dastan and Victor shouted at the same time, their faces a mix of disbelief and shock.
"Oi, Leyvi! You said you survived it! You never mentioned killing the damn thing!" Dastan barked, his finger pointing accusingly at him.
"Well, it's true. I survived," Leyvi said with a calm shrug, as if it were nothing.
"You surviving and you killing it are two completely different things, you know!" Dastan shot back, waving his arms for emphasis.
"Who cares? It was just a fluke anyway. Didn't we already kill plenty of commander-level beasts ourselves?" Leyvi replied, brushing it off. He certainly had no intention of telling them the real reason behind his victory. That battle had brought out a version of himself he preferred not to think about—a Leyvi consumed with anger, his spiritual pressure amplified to terrifying levels. He wasn't fond of that part of him.
"Hmph. Those other times, we used my Crown Lightning Bolt and your metal bat. How is that the same as using your real ability?" Dastan pressed, refusing to let it go.
