The Investiture: Unlimited Blade Works Nezha

Chapter 494: Sun Wukong Battles Red Boy

The group of four, led by Xuanzang, traveled west, and soon Sun Wukong faintly heard a child's cry for help. With his Eyes of Golden Flame wide open, he saw red fire swirling deep in the mountains.

Sun Wukong:...

Come on, can't you demons be a bit more creative? Is this the only trick you've got?

He knew clearly that although Xuanzang had been fooled several times, he would definitely fall for it again as soon as he saw that demon. It's not that Xuanzang is stupid; he's kind.

No matter how many times he gets deceived, what if this time it's real? What if next time it's real?

As long as there's a chance, Xuanzang will always get tricked.

Sun Wukong had an idea: just keep Xuanzang away from it!

"Hahahahaha, hahaha!"

This laughter left Xuanzang and the others dumbfounded.

"Wukong, why are you laughing?"

Sun Wukong waved his hand and said, "Oh, Master, I just thought of something funny!"

Xuanzang was a bit puzzled but didn't press further. His disciple had suffered enough on the journey west; is it so wrong to laugh when he thinks of something happy?

But Bajie immediately became alert, vaguely guessing something.

Sun Wukong continued to lead the horse quickly forward, only stopping his madness when they could no longer hear the cry for help.

"Master, let's pick up the pace!"

After saying this, he accelerated again, only to hear cries for help again, forcing Sun Wukong to start laughing manically once more.

"Hahaha, hahaha!"

Sun Wukong once again vetoed Red Boy's appearance application.

At first, Xuanzang thought he understood his senior disciple better, only to realize he was overconfident. How could anyone easily understand the mind of a monkey?

"Wukong, you're laughing again, are you thinking of something else joyful?"

Sun Wukong's eyes darted around as he scratched his head.

"Yes, yes, Master, you're really clever."

Xuanzang:...

They pressed on, and Sun Wukong only stopped laughing once he could no longer hear the cries. He focused his Eyes of Golden Flame to observe their surroundings, hoping to see if the demon was still lingering.

Suddenly, cries for help echoed in his ears again, causing Sun Wukong to instinctively start another laughing fit.

"Wukong, Wukong, stop laughing."

Hearing Xuanzang, Sun Wukong stopped his hysterical laughter.

"The person is already in front of us."

Sun Wukong's mouth twitched; he had been investigating behind them, only for the demon to block their path directly.

Xuanzang, a bit speechless, understood why Sun Wukong had been laughing uncontrollably. Although he grasped his disciple's intention to avoid trouble, he still felt compelled to help.

If one were to refuse to lend a hand because of fear and suspicion, how could more people in distress be saved?

Looking forward, Sun Wukong saw a child with red lips and white teeth, an adorable face, bound hand and foot to a tree. Xuanzang sighed and stepped forward, instructing Sun Wukong to free the child and asked, "Child, how did you end up tied here alone in the wilderness?"

Red Boy looked at Xuanzang, sensing the mana fluctuations within him, also puzzled. Had his lifelong enemy truly renounced everything to become a mortal?

He weaved a random lie to deceive Xuanzang, who then wanted to bring him along on horseback.

After defending against him for so long, Sun Wukong wasn't about to let him stay so close to Xuanzang, so he stepped up and carried Red Boy on his back.

"Master, this mountainous path is difficult. If the White Dragon Horse carries both of you, who knows how much time it will waste? Let me carry this Daoist Master instead."

Xuanzang was stunned. Why did those words sound so familiar?

Besides, isn't our mount a white dragon? Would carrying two people really slow down the speed? We dare not question the ways of the immortals!

Red Boy, lying on Sun Wukong's back, pouted. Spoiled since childhood, he had little regard for the Great Sage Equalling Heaven. He knew his greatest obstacle the next time he wanted to defeat Jin Can Zi would be this monkey beneath him.

Small hands forming a spell, Sun Wukong felt himself getting heavier and heavier.

Sun Wukong:...

Can't you think of something new?

Watching Sun Wukong fall behind again, Xuanzang and the others found the scene all too familiar.

"Wukong, are you feeling tired? Maybe let Wengong carry for a while?"

Zhu Bajie had already figured out what was going on and shook his head quickly. With his skills, carrying a demon would just make him a snack offering!

"I'm fine, Master. You go on ahead. I'll catch up soon."

Xuanzang wasn't really foolish; he quickly understood what was going on and, along with Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, hurried forward, hoping to quickly pass through the area.

Meanwhile, Red Boy had already left his primordial spirit to chase after them with divine skills. Once Xuanzang was far enough, Sun Wukong finally revealed his fangs.

"Kid, where do you come from, daring to make a move on my master?"

After asking, he waited for a moment, but there was no response from his back. Turning around, he saw the child had turned into a decoy. Realizing the trick, he immediately smashed the fake child to smithereens and set off to pursue his master.

On the other side, a gust of wind had already swept Xuanzang away, while Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing were nowhere near being formidable like defensive towers; they weren't even close to being super minions.

Sun Wukong was furious when he arrived, fooled again with the same old trick. It was truly eating but never having one's fill, getting nothing done right.

"Let's disband! I think we should just disband!"

Zhu Bajie knew Sun Wukong was just speaking in anger. With his loyal nature, even if they were to disband, he would still rescue Xuanzang first.

Sha Wujing, lacking the intelligence, took it seriously. Others might have a way out, but he did not. Would he really return to the Flowing Sand River to endure the pain of a thousand swords piercing every day?

Better to offer himself, avoiding pain while fulfilling this bond with his master and disciples.
