The First Mythical Dragon: Harem System

Chapter 160: A Little Chase (2)

"Up ahead!" Jake shouted, and the others came into view as they could see Bray in the distance, running like his life depended on it—well, it actually did.

'Huh? His hybrid form really depends on speed,' Max thought as he noticed that the hybrid's legs had morphed, making him faster—faster than even Jake and Max as he left a trail of dust in his path.

"I know what you're thinking, Lana. Don't shoot him down," Jake called through his comm device as a gap of six meters remained between them and the fleeing hybrid.

"But we can all see he's faster than us, and you say I shouldn't shoot him down? Screw that, dude, I'm doing whatever I want!" Lana roared, and without wasting time, her wings curled forward. In an instant, dozens of razor-sharp feathers shot out toward Bray, slicing through the air like miniature blades.

Hearing the sharp whistle of feathers approaching, the hybrid immediately darted side to side with incredible speed, dodging the feathers by a wide margin and letting them crash into the ground, leaving deep cracks and scattered debris in their wake.

While keeping his pace, his gaze stayed locked on the distance ahead.

"Huh? He's running into the road where civilians are!" Lana shouted from above, her eyes widening in alarm.

"Shit!" Jake's calves bulged immensely again as he darted forward like a bullet, yet he was still unable to close the gap. The hybrid dashed into the streets, weaving through cars and people at full speed, causing chaos and panic among the crowd.

This made Lana hesitate to fire again as she zipped through the air, trying not to harm any civilians below.

Glancing behind him, Bray could see the hunters pursuing him on foot, and above them, the stunning yet furious female hunter closing in from the sky.

'Damn all of you! I won't be taken today!' he roared inwardly, weaving through more people until he spotted a car speeding toward him.

The car had a driver and a passenger, both frozen in shock as Bray ran straight into their lane.

"Hey! Move the hell out of the way!" the driver shouted, waving his hand frantically, but Bray kept coming.

'Let's see how you deal with this,' Bray grinned inwardly as the car was now mere inches away from him, forcing him to leap high into the air.

The people in the car stared up, horror etched on their faces, as the hybrid soared above them—until…

BAM!

Bray crashed into the boot of the car with such force that it flipped backward, glass shattering as the passengers screamed. But before the car could crush him, Bray's hands morphed into claws.

Without hesitation, he stabbed them through the roof of the car and, in one smooth motion, hurled it toward Lana in midair before spinning around to see the hunters gaining on him.

"Have fun," Bray grinned as he sprinted away, his feet slamming against the pavement and leaving cracks behind.

"Go after him! I can manage!" Lana shouted from above, her voice echoing through the streets and drawing the attention of several bystanders, who froze in a mix of awe and fear.

"I trust you!" Jake shouted back as he glanced up, then crouched low and leaped onto a nearby rooftop. Without hesitation, he sprinted off into the distance, his movements swift and precise, not damaging the roof one bit.

Meanwhile, Lana swooped toward the car speeding toward her, and in a flash, she was upon it. Her feet instantly transformed into sharp talons, which she drove deep into the roof of the car.

However, the force at which it was hurled was so immense that she was seen skidding backward in the air. Clenching her teeth hard, veins bulged around her neck as she flexed her legs, tightening her grip and struggling to bring the car to a halt midair. The metal beneath her talons screeched loudly from the pressure.

Those inside the car were still screaming uncontrollably, their eyes tightly shut as they prayed for a miracle.

"Hey! Will you all just shut the hell up?! You're making my ears bleed, and you're moving too much—it's making it hard for me to get a firm grip!" Lana scolded, irritation lacing her voice.

Hearing her angry shout, the terrified passengers slowly opened their eyes. To their shock, they realized the car wasn't spinning in the air anymore. Relief briefly washed over them until they looked out the window.

They froze.

The car was suspended at least five meters above the ground. If they fell from that height, it would mean certain death. The impact alone could crush them before the car even had the chance to explode.

This realization made them start screaming again, louder than before. They panicked, moving frantically inside the car, praying to whoever might listen. Their constant movement only made Lana's job harder and her patience thinner.

"Damn all of you," she hissed under her breath. Tightening her grip, she dove sharply with the car still in her talons. Her wings flared wide as she fought against gravity, straining to keep control. It took effort and focus, but after nearly two exhausting minutes, she finally managed to lower the vehicle safely to the ground.

As soon as the car touched down, the people who had gathered nearby gasped in disbelief. Seeing that the passengers were safe, they began clapping and cheering loudly for Lana. The air buzzed with gratitude and awe.

Hovering above, Lana's cold eyes swept across the crowd and settled on the terrified passengers inside the car, who were still trembling but alive. Her expression didn't soften even a bit.

"You're all welcome," she said flatly before jerking her head upward. "Now time to make a bastard pay."

SWOOSH!

With a powerful kick against the air, she shot upward, her wings slicing through the wind as her speed doubled. Her sharp eyes scanned the streets below, searching for the fleeing hybrid and her squad's current position.

Meanwhile, after confirming Lana had the situation handled, Max and the others dashed after Jake, who was still in hot pursuit of Bray. This time, Jake wasn't holding back. Every muscle in his body tensed with power as he blurred through the streets.

Bray, on the other hand, kept grabbing anything he could find—trash bins, metal poles, even chunks of debris and hurling them behind him to slow the hunters down.

But Jake simply swatted them away, barely breaking stride, his focus locked entirely on his target. Step by step, he was gaining ground.

The chase raged for another three minutes before Bray darted into a narrow alleyway, hoping to lose them in the shadows. In a flash, Jake, Max, Jasmine, and Daki streaked into the dimly lit path after him.

"You still can't catch me!" Bray shouted as he glanced behind him and spotted another opening an exit that led back to the main street. He instantly made a dash for it, grinning as freedom seemed within reach.

But oddly, the hunters didn't follow.

Bray didn't bother questioning it. He only cared about escaping, and that exit was his only chance. He sprinted faster, his heart pounding with triumph when suddenly…

Fwiish! Fwiiish! Fwiiiish!

Dozens of razor-sharp feathers rained down from the sky, embedding themselves in the ground around him. He skidded to a stop just before impaling himself on them, his eyes widening in shock.

Descending from the air with her wings spread wide, Lana landed right in front of him, her cold gaze locking onto his trembling form.

"Now," she said with a chilling calm, "where will you run to next?"
