North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 621: Evolution

Jimmy switched to Heart Eye's vision, looked left and right, ensuring no other troubles could be spotted by him, then told Rodney he was going up to help. Rodney immediately held back Jimmy: "Wait, don't go over there, you're inexperienced and might affect Turner's performance. Just wait here, Turner will be fine."

Jimmy nodded, handed the Dagger to his left hand and drew the 1875 with his right. He was now very certain that the person facing Father Turner was definitely not an ordinary person; he had already mutated, with elongated arms, fingers, a gaunt face, and skin that looked completely devoid of normal human sheen.

This bizarre person held no weapons, instead directly using his transformed hands as claws to fight against Father Turner. Clearly, after his hand mutated, its hardness was very high, enough to withstand Turner's one-handed Broadsword. However, it was clear he wasn't as strong as the person Rodney and the others had previously battled, because he now had many wounds on his body and hands, even without any blood flowing out.

Some smoky substances were escaping from the wounds, but didn't disperse, instead lingering around the body. As the smoke increased, his movements seemed to accelerate gradually, and even in Jimmy's observation, the slash wounds caused by Turner's one-handed sword seemed increasingly shallow, unsure if his defense was strengthening or Father Turner was weakening.

Since Rodney didn't allow him to go forward to support, long-range shooting support should be okay, right?

The previous guy could resist bullets with his body; assuming this one wasn't that bad either, shooting during combat gaps to avoid hitting Father Turner, Jimmy didn't dare to empty the magazine.

He raised the 1875, aiming a shot at the head of the target during the gaps in their agile movements. The bullet indeed wounded the head, though the target's head snapped back, and his body followed, recoiling slightly.

Father Turner was also startled, but since Jimmy wasn't targeting him, he only paused momentarily before quickly accelerating his slashes, taking advantage of the target's rigidity to slash twice more before being blocked by the opponent.

Due to the aggressive attempt, Father Turner's movements somewhat distorted, lacking in response, and during a retreat, the opponent counterattacked, clawed his abdomen, tearing his clothes directly and leaving several blood streaks on his stomach.

Jimmy saw that he was indeed injured, the bullet strike leaving a visible bullet hole, but it clearly didn't penetrate deeply, plus some of the smoky layer on the surface of his head had dissipated, which was good news.

Turner was blocking in front, so Jimmy shifted his steps, emptying the remaining five rounds from the magazine, all aiming for the opponent's head. In fact, starting from the third bullet, the opponent was already completely dumbfounded, stumbling to the side. During this process, Jimmy's remaining two bullets also hit the face, ensuring all six bullets hit, although the power wasn't as strong as expected, failing to pierce through the opponent's head.

Jimmy replaced the empty cartridge in the magazine with new bullets, and Father Turner, who had been forced back and distanced by attacks, seeing Jimmy's shot hit, gritted his teeth and rushed up again. The bizarre man, upon falling, immediately kicked Father Turner's leg, rolled on the ground and got up, kneeling on one leg to fixate on Jimmy's position.

Just as Jimmy finished reloading, the bizarre man had already leaped forward, completely ignoring Father Turner not far away, zigzagging toward Jimmy.

For such zigzagging targets, Jimmy was still fine. He raised the 1875 and continuously shot at the bizarre man who endured Jimmy's bullets, pausing slightly when hit, still quickly approaching Jimmy.

Rodney wasn't just standing by idly. Seeing the target rushing towards Jimmy, he had already drawn his Short Sword, shouting "Watch out!" as he directly confronted the charge.

Father Rodney's right hand, having previously been fractured, had only returned to normal now, still incapable of fighting properly, thus he charged with his left hand holding the Short Sword, his movements awkward. Yet, the bizarre man did not regard Father Rodney as a target, blocking him with two claw swipes and adding a claw strike, immediately abandoning the target to rush toward Jimmy again.

Jimmy directly released his right hand, let go of the empty 1875 into free fall, transferred the Dagger from his left to right, and pulled out a second 1875 from underarm with his left hand to shoot at the man again, simultaneously dashing forward two steps to engage in close quarter dagger combat, blocking the opponent's claws.

Jimmy had a mental expectation of the hardness of the 1875, using the left-hand revolver to parry claws, right-hand dagger to stab the man's neck, adjusting the gun barrel position for close range shooting, multitasking.

Close combat was Jimmy's weak spot, but still better compared to his firearms skills. To an ordinary person, Jimmy's combat ability definitely wouldn't be considered poor.

Due to his strong spiritual power, Jimmy could see all the man's movements very clearly and knew how to block, so after using the Dagger and 1875 to parry several times, the revolver fired six rounds at the man's chest. Although the repeated impacts of the bullet heads did not pierce, the bullet kinetic energy still caused the bizarre man to pause and retreat a few steps, gaining some distance from Jimmy.

Seizing this moment, both Father Rodney and Father Turner had arrived beside the bizarre man. However, Father Rodney wielded the Short Sword with his left hand, basically as a support, leaving Father Turner to stop the bizarre man.
