North America Gunman Detective

Chapter 625: Investigation (Part 2)

Blackwood took a look, his brow furrowed slightly, "Do you have more complete and clearer photos?"

Jimmy gently shook his head: "Sorry, this is captured from a video, it already has the most patterns."

Blackwood: "It's difficult to fully confirm with just these, and the patterns are somewhat distorted, I can't be a hundred percent sure. Can I watch the video?"

Jimmy continued shaking his head: "Not yet, the video..." He took a deep breath and continued, "It's a case video, quite sensitive, not convenient to show you."

Blackwood picked up the copied picture again, rotated it left and right, and examined it carefully, "I guess around 70%, really not sure."

Jimmy nodded: "Okay, I'll go back and investigate further, if I have clearer images, I'll show you again."

Blackwood nodded, handed the copy to Jimmy, and then took a business card from the side, "If it's just about identifying the image, you can email me, I'll reply as soon as possible."

Jimmy took the business card, smiled and nodded: "Thanks for taking the time out of your work, I'll head back now, goodbye."

Jimmy packed all the materials and left the tattoo shop. Blackwood mentioned she was seventy percent confident that it was her tattoo work, which basically confirmed it because when facing Jimmy, the FBI agent, she would not speak too confidently if she had any doubts. Saying seventy percent, she probably had at least eighty to ninety percent confidence.

Jimmy returned to the office, pulled over a whiteboard, posted the materials he got from Nia directly on it, then went to the computer to find the previously left information related to the dismemberment case, printed it out and posted it on the whiteboard, standing in front of it carefully observing.

Julia and Mark came over, "Yang, did you find any clues?"

Jimmy: "En, but it's still not confirmed if these three cases are related. This is a missing person case from NYPD, the missing person is this Annie Foster in the photo.

This is a dismemberment case previously found by NYPD, body fragments were fished out of the East River, identity yet to be confirmed.

Finally, the case on our side, the connection between these three cases is this tattoo, a pattern is on the thigh of the corpse fragment, I've had someone examine this tattoo, it's basically confirmed to be an iris, Annie Foster from the first missing case also had a similar iris tattoo."

Jimmy turned to Julia: "By the way, Julia, you have the tech department process that video, I need the frames with this tattoo confirmed by the tattoo artist side, remember to clean up decently."

Julia nodded: "I understand, I'll have them process it immediately."

Jimmy: "Mark, Julia, you first look through these materials, the other two cases are still with NYPD, we don't need to take them over for now."

Then, Jimmy returned to his seat, inserted the USB into the computer, and started viewing the dark web video. He hadn't watched it completely before, now is the time he needs to thoroughly view it.

The video is somewhat gruesome, the beginning is AV, and immediately follows by murder and dismemberment, if such a video gets out, who knows what disaster it might cause.

However, the resolution of the video is really bad, just looking at the recorded video you can tell the equipment used was definitely not a professional camera. Regular home digital camcorders or VHS recorders have terrible resolution, just slightly better than phone cameras, nowhere near HD digital cameras later on.

But this clarity is not a big problem for older monitors, most computer screens now still only have resolutions of 800-1024, FBI's computers are relatively better, but still vastly different from ten years later.

Julia and Mark were examining carefully, and Jimmy didn't find any apparent features either. The suspect's tools were very ordinary machetes and axes, which are everywhere in the US, virtually indistinguishable.

"Knock knock," David knocked at the door, "Jimmy."

Jimmy looked up to see David, and greeted him: "Hi, David, what's up?"

David: "Wanna chat outside?"

Jimmy grabbed his coat, telling Mark and Julia to continue investigating, and followed David to an empty meeting room.

David: "Jimmy, I heard you spent some time in Dallas, Texas? Familiar with it?"

Jimmy nodded: "En, I was seconded there two or three times, what's up?"

David: "We cracked a gang some time ago, arrested their leader, apart from regular business, they also trafficked drugs. Their drugs came from Texas, we're trying to figure out their connection, someone named Borsa. No detailed info. Transport routes are organized there, New York just handles receiving and distributing.

Ruiz mentioned you're familiar with that area, help me contact the Dallas office and check if they have any info on this person."

Jimmy raised an eyebrow, surprised: "Is it necessary to track them down? Organizations like this are definitely cross-border, plenty of cartels big and small in Texas and New Mexico, wiping them out completely isn't easy."

David: "Having clues always warrants chasing them somewhat, bringing down their connection benefits everyone."

Jimmy thought for a moment: "Checking with the Dallas office might not be suitable, I'll directly contact DEA, I know someone there."

This time David was surprised, "DEA? Are they reliable?"

Jimmy: "Pretty decent, had dealings before. If you're concerned about alerting them, I can inquire in Albuquerque, know a couple people there at DEA."

David was speechless, where does this young man have so many connections? Seconded to Dallas, recognizing one or two DEA agents there still makes sense, but how about the New Mexico ties?

David: "Alright, no matter who, inquire and if no clues emerge we drop it."

Jimmy nodded and stood up: "Got it, but the actual legwork may be theirs, you should be prepared."

David also stood up: "Of course, any credit is shared."

Jimmy: "Right, await my update."

After saying this, Jimmy and David left the meeting room, David returned to his office, Jimmy glanced around and headed towards the elevator.

Downstairs, finding a quiet spot, Jimmy took out his phone and dialed DEA Dallas office's Torsten Marcus.

Jimmy: "Hi, Marcus, it's Jimmy."

Torsten: "Jimmy, calling at this time? Are you in Dallas?"

Jimmy: "No, I'm still in New York. Are you at the office or outside?"

Torsten: "I'm at the office, what's the matter?"

Jimmy: "Got a situation needing your help to check. NYC cracked a drug trafficking group recently, their source is someone named Borsa, drugs came from Texas, asking you to check if you have info on this person."

Torsten paused: "You're mentioning Borsa? Full name? Anything else?"

Jimmy: "That's all there is, just a name. People caught here mentioned the route was arranged from Texas, they're unfamiliar with them there."

Torsten: "The name isn't familiar, no impressions."

Jimmy: "Okay then, if you investigate and find anything please notify me."

Jimmy didn't rush to hang up but discussed his upcoming marriage this year, with a few months to go, promising invitations; Torsten congratulated and said he would try to attend.

After hanging up, Jimmy pulled out a cigarette from the pack, noting there were only a few left, looks like he'll need to head to Chinatown to replenish his supply.
