Chapter 635: Possession

Jimmy and the others were watching the small cabin with serious expressions. The spiritual shock from earlier had already indicated that whatever was inside was definitely out of the ordinary. Tony, as an ordinary person, collapsing directly was evidence of it.

As for why Jimmy was unaffected, others might have questions, but Rodney the Priest certainly didn't think this way. Jimmy was someone who could directly see resentful spirits, and his spiritual power was absolutely much stronger than many others'.

Jimmy fired two shots just now because when the dust was swirling, two white dots suddenly appeared from the dust and flew into the sky. That's why he fired the shots, directly hitting the two white dots. Whether they were one entity or two separate resentful spirits made no difference to Jimmy.

Since Tony started planting the explosives, Jimmy had been using his Heart Eye, mainly to observe the explosion. The discovery of the white dots flying out was entirely by accident. Right now, he couldn't see the situation inside the cabin; the dust was too thick and hindered his Heart Eye Vision.

Soon, the dust settled, and through the small cabin's doorway, the situation inside could finally be seen. A mass of black smoke visible to the naked eye formed a humanoid shape, though there were still some black ribbons and smoke-like things swirling around its body, not fully solidified.

Jimmy switched back and forth between normal vision and Heart Eye Vision, confirming that the others could see the figure too. However, no one moved, and instead, they stepped forward two steps, leaving Jimmy completely behind.

Rodney the Priest asked solemnly, "Who are you?"

The black smoke emitted a real voice, not waves transmitted by spiritual power, "Me? Your worst fear, your terminator."

Rodney the Priest waved at the others, and four priests moved forward from the sides, surrounding the front half of the small cabin. The person inside had not moved all along, just watching them.

Jimmy kept observing with his Heart Eye, and unlike what he had observed before, he found no weaknesses on this person. Reluctantly, he lowered the gun in his left hand and aimed with his right, concentrating. Finally, after Rodney and the others completed the encirclement, he saw the white spots he wanted to see, but they were very small, of high density, with no distinction between primary and secondary.

Rodney the Priest reached his left hand inside his priestly garment and took out a round badge, "Why are you here? How should I address you?"

The black smoke didn't answer, just stayed inside the cabin without action. Rodney continued to ask, "Why not come out? Let's have a face-to-face talk."

The black smoke still did not move at all, even the previous response seemed like an illusion to Rodney and the others. During the silent standoff, Jimmy noticed the other party's body seemed to expand a little, though not noticeably.

Rodney the Priest shouted loudly, "Pray," and the other four priests held crosses in a praying posture and began reciting the Lord's Prayer: "Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name..."

Rodney did not hold a cross but held the badge he had taken out, reciting. The Lord's Prayer was the most commonly used prayer, and Jimmy himself had memorized it, though he had tried before, reciting it had no effect.

As the priests prayed, an invisible energy began to appear on them and slowly covered their entire bodies, like a protective energy layer. It gradually solidified and disappeared from Jimmy's sight. The same thing happened near the little house, where the other's energy gradually covered it too, though thinner, appearing very fragile.

Jimmy watched from behind like a spectator as they tried to resist the black smoke inside, unable to intervene. He was utterly unfamiliar with these means, never having seen them before, nor could he perform them.

The Lord's Prayer wasn't long, recited three times, yet Rodney the Priest still saw no response from the black smoke inside. To confirm the situation within, he gestured, calling the two priests nearest the door to slowly approach the main entrance of the cabin. The cabin was not large, and if they all went in, they couldn't fully operate anyway.

Rodney entered the cabin first, alert as he moved closer to the smoke. When he was just over a meter away, the black smoke suddenly surged, contracted, and then exploded, the intense impact directly pushing Rodney back a few steps, returning to the doorway.

The preparation he had done earlier was merely to prevent the other party from acting, with the short sword in his right hand ready to attack at any time. He never expected such a reaction like a Resist Fire Ring. He barely managed to pull his hands back to his chest before being flung away.

Another priest had been following behind and got bumped by Rodney. Fortunately, the short sword in his hand wasn't pointing forward; otherwise, Rodney would have been pierced through.

As the black smoke spread within the cabin, the priests outside hearing the cries from within couldn't help but draw near the doorway. However, before they reached it, Jimmy had already fired.

Even prepared, several priests were still unable to see some things, but Jimmy was different. He had been staring at the black smoke, and after the smoke retracted and expanded, a mass of invisible energy rushed in Jimmy's direction. Although Jimmy could faintly see the outline, he could still determine its direction of travel.
