Chapter 640: Dilemma (Part 2)

Jimmy smirked, "It's not a big deal, don't worry, I'm definitely strong enough to handle it."

Nia: "By the way, make sure to get a few more suits done when you have the time, the clothes in your wardrobe can't withstand this pace of consumption."

Jimmy: "Alright, I'll contact someone later, schedule a time to go. Is your wedding dress ready?"

Nia: "Not yet, I've had two fittings, but it's still being adjusted. It'll definitely be ready in time for the wedding."

That evening, Jimmy and Nia visited Nia's house and stayed for dinner. After dinner, the family sat in the living room chatting, and Jimmy finally stated the purpose of his visit.

Kevin: "Are you talking about that old church on Staten Island?"

Jimmy: "Yes, St. Andrew's Church. Father White, the person in charge there, invited me."

Kevin asked confusedly: "I remember that church doesn't hold wedding ceremonies? It's only used for special events."

Jimmy: "I helped them with a little something, and Father White thinks highly of me."

Kevin got up: "Come with me to the study."

Jimmy also got up and followed, sensing that Kevin knew some things that might not be convenient to discuss further here.

Kevin first poured two glasses of wine at the bookshelf, then sat down in the lounge area, "Tell me, what's really going on? Even if you helped with something small, Bishop Anderson from the Archdiocese wouldn't allow you to use St. Andrew's Church."

Jimmy took out the Exorcism Badge: "Well, due to some events, I'm sort of an auxiliary Exorcist for the Vatican now. This is the Saint Benedict Exorcism Badge that Father White just gave me today."

Kevin: "Can you perform exorcisms now? Didn't you say it wasn't possible when you went to Buffalo City to help Harlington with the villa issue?"

Jimmy: "I'm just assisting the priests in the church with some matters, it's more like a sign of trust from them."

Kevin: "Is there anything else to it?"

Jimmy: "Although I'm not a devout believer, I do count as a follower. Father White inviting me to hold the wedding there might be related to this. I know your family isn't religious, so I didn't agree to it immediately. If we decide to hold the wedding there, it could cement my status as a follower, and maybe even yours..."

Kevin considered this while drinking. His family has always been involved with the Democrats, so having an explicit follower status isn't really an issue. He's not planning to run for Congress, so his status doesn't matter much. But holding the wedding at St. Andrew's Church basically means aligning with the church.

Kevin is currently an NYPD Deputy Commissioner, and with the current trajectory, he could ascend further. Gaining some support from the church doesn't seem to be a bad thing.

Kevin: "Are those exorcism things dangerous? They've given you so many benefits to make you work for them, right?"

Jimmy: "The scales need to be balanced; if I gain something, naturally I have to bear the corresponding consequences. From the current situation, becoming an Exorcist for the church isn't a problem for me, I have the ability to handle these things, but for you guys, having the wedding at the church might change some of your stances."

Kevin shook his head: "It doesn't affect us, no need to worry about these things. If you feel it's okay, we can adjust the wedding process, have the ceremony at the church, and then head to the hotel banquet hall."

Jimmy: "Does that mean we'll have to redesign the invitations? Also, I haven't looked at the process for a church wedding before, and traveling from Staten Island to Manhattan is kind of a hassle..."

Kevin: "These aren't problems, though temporarily changing the wedding venue does require adjustments. We also need to discuss with Father White about how many people the church can accommodate. I remember it's quite a large church, but since it's one of the oldest in New York, I'm sure we can't fit too many people."

Jimmy: "Will you come with me on a trip?"

Kevin didn't answer, sipping his drink and thinking, "I'll contact them myself, but you'll need to give them a heads up."

Jimmy: "Okay, I'll let Father Rodney know."

Kevin: "By the way, have you sorted out your groomsmen and flower girls?"

Jimmy sighed, it's a bit of a hassle. Most of the people he's met in recent years are older than him, whether it's from the hotel, the FBI, or the CIA. As for social circles, there aren't many, and he's not the type who enjoys making friends.

He had already been considering the selection of a best man; if nothing else, he'd have to grab Mark to fill in, as at least he appears a few years younger than Jimmy and still looks like a young man.

Jimmy: "For a flower boy, what do you think about Elliot? Elliot Green, Alex Green's son."

Kevin: "You decide, just make sure to confirm it early to avoid problems later."

Jimmy: "I'll sort it out as soon as possible."

Kevin: "I'll make decisions about the invitations after communicating with Father White. If we hold the wedding at the church, the previous invitations will need to be altered."

The invitations aren't blank slates; the previous ones were customized by the hotel for the banquet. Now that the hotel is only handling the banquet, and the wedding is at the church, a new set of invitations needs to be crafted. This also raises the issue of how many people can receive invitations to the church, as the church can accommodate only so many guests...
