Chapter 107: Gerr's Sword (1/2)

"Clang!"

The longsword clashed against the greatsword.

"Are you Glenbagen Family really that impatient?"

Gerr said coldly, then swung his sword, pushing away Liens in front of him.

Facing such a huge disparity in strength, Liens had almost no power to resist and was pushed back several steps by the greatsword.

"This kid really doesn't listen to advice... Sigh."

Jonathan sighed and shook his head inwardly when he saw that the first figure to rush out was Liens.

With Liens's example, the other Dark Guards naturally no longer hesitated. After applying buffs to themselves, they also charged forward.

Facing this situation, the old man stopped talking and directly unleashed magic to bombard the Dark Guards in front of him.

At the same time, he used magic to apply beneficial buffs to his own side, preparing to engage the enemy after the magical bombardment ended.

The situation in the courtyard thus shifted from a standoff to a raging battle.

Screams of agony would no longer cease from this moment on.

As for Liens, he did not reply to Gerr's question, but instead responded directly with the longsword in his hand.

"Thud!"

Liens once again stepped forward, dashing towards Gerr's position, raising his longsword and thrusting it like lightning towards a part of Gerr not covered by armor.

"Clang!"

Gerr used the wide blade of his sword to block the incoming longsword thrust, then quickly swung his sword to slash at Liens.

He intended to cleave the "scrawny" fellow in front of him in half.

At this moment, Gerr didn't care about the Dark Guard in front of him who had no elemental reaction.

After all, if he had to take seriously every weakling who wasn't even an Extraordinary One, wouldn't he, Gerr, have to be cautious every day?

He didn't believe that the "eager for quick success" fellow in front of him could block his single sword strike.

Facing the formidable greatsword, Liens knew he couldn't block it, but he didn't need to.

Liens dodged sideways, narrowly avoiding the greatsword by mere centimeters, the whistling sword wind roaring past his ears.

The reason he chose such a perilous way to dodge the greatsword was, firstly, he was confident he could do it, and secondly, he didn't want to create distance from Gerr.

He was shorter than Gerr in terms of height, arm length, and sword length.

This resulted in his attack range being significantly smaller than Gerr's.

Therefore, he couldn't retreat to dodge the attack, otherwise he might be completely suppressed by Gerr's advantage in attack range.

After dodging the greatsword's attack in an extremely perilous manner, Liens struck again.

Exerting force with his right hand, the longsword was as swift as the wind, slashing towards the joint of Gerr's sword-wielding right hand—a crucial and unprotected spot.

Gerr frowned. Unable to retract his sword in time, he shifted his arm to block the attack with his gauntlet.

"Clang!"

Liens's sharp slash cut a gash into the sturdy steel gauntlet.

Liens didn't pay attention to the damage that "cutting iron" might inflict on his longsword; the finely crafted longsword, bought with a hefty sum, was quite durable.

This kind of action might cause some wear and tear on the longsword, reducing its sharpness, but it wouldn't break easily in a short period of time.

Liens continued to press his advantage, directly launching a "Three-hit Combo", thrusting towards Gerr's heart at a speed almost imperceptible to the naked eye.

Given the hardness of the armor, it would be difficult for him to penetrate its defenses and strike Gerr's body without a "Three-hit Combo."

Seeing this, Gerr's expression slightly changed. He quickly leaned back, simultaneously retracting his sword to block his chest.

"Clang, clang, clang!"

The longsword, like an afterimage, landed on Gerr's greatsword, producing a series of harsh sounds.

This time, Gerr reacted quite timely, so Liens's attack did not achieve the desired result.

Gerr swung his sword in a horizontal sweep, forcing Liens to quickly retreat and move away from the greatsword's attack range.

While retreating, Liens pulled a "Stamina Potion" from a special pocket with his left hand, crushed the bottle neck, and then poured the red liquid into his mouth.

Tiny glass fragments entered Liens's mouth along with the potion, cutting the flesh inside his oral cavity.

For a moment, who knew how much of the red liquid Liens swallowed was his own blood?

"Thud!"

Liens once again stepped forward, dashing quickly towards Gerr's position.

From previous observations, Gerr's Sword Style seemed to be of the broad, sweeping type.

This was very suitable for a greatsword and his tall stature.

However, this Sword Style was somewhat disadvantaged against close-quarters attacks.

Seeing Liens charge over again, Gerr naturally knew his intention, but he would not allow the previous situation to happen again.

Gerr solemnly swung a slash at Liens, and after the opponent dodged, he quickly followed up with a horizontal sweep.

The greatsword still moved in broad, sweeping motions, but it consistently kept Liens at a certain distance, preventing him from getting too close or too far.

Gerr's offensive was like a tornado, tearing apart everything outside the eye of the storm.

And Liens was like a bird caught in the storm, only able to continuously dodge the attacks from within the storm.

"A strong one! He truly is a strong one!"

Liens shouted excitedly in his heart.

This was another Extraordinary Knight who had comprehended a "Sword Style."

This was a powerful individual who could rival, or even surpass, his instructor.

To be able to fight to the death with such a powerful individual was truly fortunate for him.

They were like treasures; every battle increased his comprehension of swordsmanship and improved the perfection of his "Simple" Sword Style.

Liens's expression grew more serious, and an unprecedented fervor erupted in his cold eyes.

He wanted to see through the Sword Style of the tall knight in front of him, even if it meant risking his own life.

The tempestuous sword blades continuously tore at Liens's body, flesh and blood constantly being shed, and a pool of blood had already formed beneath him.

Although Liens had tried his best to dodge and block, the Sword Style, which had formed a perfect encirclement, was not a safe zone he could easily escape from.

Being covered in blood and gore was already the minimum price he had paid.

"Clang!"

Liens once again used his longsword to block the greatsword's attack, but this time, after enduring multiple heavy blows from the greatsword, it could no longer hold on.

It broke.

The broken blade fell like an apple, hitting the ground.

"Clink, clank, clink..."

But Liens still ignored it, wielding his broken longsword and attacking Gerr.

Though the sword in his hand was broken, and his body was mangled, the will in his heart, the sword in his heart, still told Liens...

He could still swing his sword.

"Pfft!"

The greatsword pierced through Liens's body, then was pulled out.

Facing such a respectable opponent, Gerr chose to leave Liens a complete corpse.

The huge wound caused the body, which had already lost a lot of blood, to gush out a large amount of fresh blood again.

As this blood flowed away, Liens's body could no longer support him.

He fell to the ground, his consciousness gradually blurring.

In his blurry vision, he saw Gerr, whose armor was covered in sword marks, walk up to him.

"Next time, I'll do better."

Liens thought to himself, then his consciousness completely plunged into darkness.
