Threads of the Soul

Chapter 376: A Grand Invitation

To the Ruler of these Lands,

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Prometheus, Progenitor of the flame and the being responsible for the world you find yourself in. I would introduce myself in person, but I am hopeful that by the time this event comes to pass my plans will have been carried out in full.

Nevertheless, This is my congratulations to you. Not just as an individual, but to your species.

You may be wondering the purpose of this letter. It is merely an introduction, and an invitation.

You have shown great strength, prowess and foresight to have claimed your lands as your own. Whatever form that it may take, you have been deemed the leader of your lands. Whether by strength, loyalty or subjugation.

Many lead differently, but all are welcome.

By possessing this letter, you have been selected to attend a meeting of leadership. Individuals like yourself, from all across your planet, will gather. As for the purpose of this meeting?

You will have to wait and see.

Naturally you are free to avoid attendance. Simply burn the letter, and you will be absolved of your attendance. Naturally this is a final decision, and cannot be rescinded.

If you choose this option, you will not only forgo attendance but any benefits you might accrue from said attendance.

As for those who wish to attend, you need not do anything. The invitation itself will act as your entry to the event. Along with yourself, you will be permitted to bring along two individuals of your choosing.

The event will begin in one month's time. I do hope you enjoy it.

Sincerely,

The Eternal Flame, Prometheus

Corvus read over the letter a few times, double checking he took in every detail of the enigmatic invitation before putting it away as if it was nothing special. However he didn't dismiss it back to his soul, like Seth had done. Instead he simply folded it back up and slipped it into his armour where it could be safe.

He did this not to hide the details from his other selves, but to make sure that he was the version that it took when the time came.

After all, it had mentioned leaders. It wouldn't do good for him to accidentally arrive as Seth, or as Scar. One would expose his identity while the other was not supposed to exist in the public eye.

No, it had to be Lord Corvus, and since this body had assumed that identity then it had to be him that did it.

When it came to his assistants though, the answers were rather obvious. His mind immediately flashed to Astra. He was unaware of the 'training sessions' that she was putting his other bodies through, but even if he was it wasn't as if he would have been jealous.

A bit annoyed that he had been left out, sure. But he wasn't going to be mad about it.

One of the few things they had discussed in their first council was exactly that. Their relationships. They had very quickly settled on the thought that they were all the same person, and thus all the Father of Nixie.

When it came to Astra, naturally they couldn't declare themselves all in the relationship without consulting her. But they came to the understanding that if she accepted it, that they would have a very strange clone based polycule. Or in other words, they would be her Seth Harem, or Setharem if you would, if she accepted it.

Considering what she was putting those two poor souls through, it was safe to say she was more than open to the Setharem, even if they had to iron out a few details.

But even if they weren't in a relationship, Corvus would have still thought of Astra. She was his right hand, she had helped him through countless issues over the years, both in the battlefield and in the court of empire management.

He had no doubt that she would continue with that support until the day he no longer deserved it.

Above all, she deserved to be there on merit alone. It just helped that she was also his girlfriend and Queen. Although... it did feel strange referring to someone that everyone recognised as the Queen of the lands, as just his girlfriend.

Perhaps he would have to change that. Although it would undoubtedly be even more complexity and confusion added to the heap. It was definitely something to consider with the others though.

Anyways, as for his second choice... That was harder. There were plenty who deserved it, but he also didn't know exactly what this event was going to be.

Nixie, Bob, Carnifex, Julius, Fox and many more. They all had their merits, their different strengths not just in terms of their powers. But they all had different weaknesses. It had to be considered more closely, especially in terms of what the other leaders would bring.

That part didn't slip his attention. The letter had clearly been premade, perhaps even at the dawn of human civilisation when Prometheus first arrived, well before he and Original Seth even met. So it wasn't surprising it wasn't personalised.

But it outright stated that others would be attending. People on his level, either in terms of leadership or power.

The latter made him hesitate. Humans were, after all, not the only powerful thing on the planet. It wasn't unthinkable that something that wasn't human became eligible for the invitation. Perhaps even something that wasn't of this planet in terms of origin.

The black dragon, after all, was absolutely the most powerful thing he had met on this planet. Even now, as a new Celestial, he felt he would struggle with fighting her despite his power boosts. Although just the fact he considered it more of a struggle instead of an impossible task, was promising when it came to his future growth.

Regardless of his own ego, The black dragon was more than capable of being considered a leader of the world, considering she could probably take over it.

Who knows, maybe this would be when he would finally meet her again. She had disappeared mysteriously before he freed Prometheus and never showed her scaled head again.

Then again, even if she didn't turn up. Something like her could. It became one of the many anxiety inducing possibilities that made Corvus plunge deep into his thoughts, planning for this mysterious event. He only had a month after all.

It should be doable to get powerful enough to not have to worry about anything. If only those other two would get their act together. What were they doing anyways?

Scar panted heavily as he sat on the edge of the bed. His body was shimmering with a thin coating of sweat, as he was completely spent. Astra had finally had her fill of satisfaction after four days. The demon in human skin was lounging on the bed, cuddling up against the completely spent Seth who was deep in sleep, as her devilish black fingers traced patterns on his chest.

Even now, having been tamed and satisfied, she was still looking at him with hungry eyes.

"I should really get going. I was supposed to leave days ago, before someone distracted me."

"Mm, You didn't seem too broken up about it. Besides, you could have left any time you wanted. We might not have talked very much, other than a few choice words... But Nixie and I had a lovely little chat while we waited for you two.

I hear that you can turn yourself into a ghost. Is that true?"

Scar chuckled softly, standing up and strolling over to the ships closet and beginning to get dressed. The entire time having to ignore Astra's lecherous eyes leering over like he was a piece of meat.

"There's nothing left in the tank for you Succubus. You have better chance of finding water on Mars, so don't even think about it."

"Hehe, Perhaps. But there is nothing wrong with admiring the view."

Scar shook his head and let out a soft chuckle as he pulled up his trousers before pulling a shirt over his head.

"But to answer your question, Yes. I can."

He lifted his arm, letting her see his new ability for herself. First it turned translucent before vanishing entirely, as if had simply been erased from existence. With another thought, he brought the arm back, including the scar on his palm, before flexing his fingers and lowering his hand.

"Simple as that. I think it helps lefty over there feel his hand again. But I don't need that. At best I can use it for sneaking around, going through walls or attacking souls."

"Hmm... That is interesting. It's a shame though..."

"Oh? Why is that?"

"Well, Titus put so much work into those Avatars of yours. It's just a shame to see them be wasted now that you have multiple bodies. You've not really got a reason to use them anymore. Why possess a body when you already have multiple?"

"Yeah... Why would I do that..."

He narrowed his eyes, his voice trailing off as his mind wandered. Although he repeated her words, he was already playing with an idea.

Scar searched his connections, finding the Avatar that sat uselessly in the other room, before using his [Resonating Threads] on it.
