Urban Powerhouse: Chaos Supreme

Chapter 1169: Request

"You can call me Lin."

Lin Mo reached out and lightly shook Lan Bo's hand before releasing it. "I've heard your name mentioned by Miss Yingzi long ago. Over these three years, Miss Yingzi has been very worried about Mr. Lin, always searching for him. I believe that, in Miss Yingzi's heart, Mr. Lin holds an unshakeable place," Lan Bo said softly, his tone calm, showing excellent Qi cultivation technique, yet it wasn't difficult to hear a hint of jealousy in his words.

"Is that so?"

Lin Mo chuckled and said, "Thanks to Young Master Lan Bo for taking care of Yingzi over these three years, but it's time for us to leave. Yingzi is here to bid farewell to Young Master Lan Bo."

"Yes, Yingzi just mentioned this to me, but..."

Lan Bo hesitated for a moment before speaking, "But might you stay for dinner? Three years is not a short time, and since I just met Master Lin, I hope Master Lin won't refuse my hospitality."

"Master?"

Yingzi lifted her small head, her large, watery eyes looking at Lin Mo. Now that Lin Mo had returned, she had to follow his orders.

"Alright, Young Master Lan Bo, Yingzi and I will stay for dinner, but I need to visit Snow City first. It's been a while since I've been back, and there are some things I need to handle," Lin Mo said, smiling.

"Alright, I will host a banquet for Master Lin this evening," Lan Bo smiled and nodded, maintaining his gentlemanly demeanor, not at all like the arrogant, ostentatious, and oblivious wealthy young heirs Lin Mo had encountered before.

"Young Master Lan Bo, thank you for taking care of me these past three years," Yingzi bowed to Lan Bo, then followed Lin Mo out of the villa.

Lan Bo stood at the doorway, watching their backs walking side by side, a faint hint of disappointment on his face.

"Young Master Lan Bo."

Mark approached Lan Bo, slightly bending over and speaking in a very respectful tone.

"Mark, what's the matter?" Lan Bo raised an eyebrow as he looked at him. Mark wasn't strong, but he was very clever and often helped solve troubles.

"Young Master Lan Bo, everyone in Snow City knows you like Miss Yingzi, but now that Master Lin is back, Miss Yingzi will leave with him. Are you not feeling lost or saddened?" Mark cautiously asked.

"What's the use of being sad or feeling lost? Some things cannot be changed. Over these three years, I've known how persistent Yingzi is about that Master Lin," Lan Bo said lightly, though his tone carried a touch of jealousy.

Mark's eyes quickly darted around, "Young Master Lan Bo, I once heard Miss Yingzi mention that Master Lin is already married and treats her like a disciple. Young Master Lan Bo still has his advantages, so don't give up."

"Hmm, as long as Miss Yingzi hasn't left Snow City, I won't give up," Lan Bo's lips curved into a dazzling arc, his gaze deep as he looked into the distance.

The street had been cleared into a wide passage, with white snow piled on either side, revealing the damp stone pavement in the middle.

"Yingzi."

Lin Mo, with the Xuanyuan Sword on his back, walked unhurriedly toward the bustling center of Snow City. Since the city was filled with cultivators, it wasn't uncommon to see mercenary members carrying giant axes and iron hammers, so his heavy sword did not draw attention.

"Master, what's the matter?"

Yingzi walked on Lin Mo's left, her petite frame making her half a head shorter, exuding the gentle and charming aura of an Oriental classical woman.

Lin Mo grinned, raising his hands to rest on her shoulders, his deep black eyes gazing straight into Yingzi's, seemingly trying to see through her entirely.

"Master, what are you doing?" Yingzi's face flushed, being stared at by Lin Mo like this, her ears turning red and hot, her heartbeat quickening, and even her breathing becoming slightly rapid.

"Does Lan Bo like you?" Lin Mo asked with a smile.

"No."

"Hmm?"

"Yes."

"What do you think? I fear my appearance, asking you to follow me, might seem too domineering," Lin Mo said, frowning.

Yingzi's eyes widened, her little silver teeth biting her thin, rosy lips, "Master worries about disrupting my golden bond with Lan Bo? I don't like him at all, I..."

"If you don't like him, then continue cultivating with me," Lin Mo said, smiling.

"Master, I want to be alone for a while, you go ahead on your own," Yingzi suddenly said, tears brimming in her eyes, then quickly headed down the street, her captivating eyes misted over.

"This girl, she's never been angry with me before?"

Lin Mo placed a hand on his forehead, his cultivation, no matter how profound, could hardly predict a girl's thoughts. Why did she suddenly get upset?

Shaking his head, Lin Mo decided to stop thinking about it and headed straight to the Mercenary Guild in the center of Snow City.

The Mercenary Guild, the most powerful organization in Snow City; any mercenary arriving or golden master posting tasks must go through the guild. Besides task reception and posting tasks, the guild also evaluates the level of mercenary groups.

Covered in snow, the Mercenary Guild building was preceded by a twenty-meter wide, ten-meter high staircase.

Approaching the entrance, Lin Mo saw sculptures of Ice Plateau Wolf Kings carved from ice on either side, vivid and imposing, each snow sculpture standing ten meters tall.

Inside, mercenary groups, lone adventurers, or golden masters posting tasks came and went.

Lin Mo, entering the guild, followed the signs to the golden master's task assignment counter.

"Hello, sir."

A uniformed woman with her hair tied up invited Lin Mo to a secluded booth to sit.

Upon entering, Lin Mo could clearly sense an energy fluctuation. "Sir, is this your first time at the Mercenary Guild? Generally, tasks are posted or received through discussion in a booth, where an array shields against eavesdropping. Moreover, our guild ensures the confidentiality of all our clients," the woman explained in detail.

To run such a large guild and control the resources of the entire Siberian Ice Field's fierce beast territory, the Mercenary Guild's means and background were undoubtedly impressive.

"I want to post a top-level task: hunt a Double-headed Bone Wolf," Lin Mo stated directly.

"A top-level task, Double-headed Bone Wolf. Would you like to designate a specific mercenary group for the task? There will be additional fees," the woman smiled.

"I'd like the War Axe Mercenary Corps Group to complete this task for me," Lin Mo said, his lips curling into a faint smile.
