Above the Great Dao

Chapter 412: Interpreting Laozi

Because of the actions of the ancestors of the Thirteen Families, where should we place the scholars whose lives have been wasted for six thousand years?

Because of the kind deeds of someone in the Thirteen Families, where should we place the civilians who have died from their oppression over six thousand years?

Because of the suffering the Thirteen Families are about to endure, where should we place those who have died pointlessly at the hands of evil spirits due to their incompetence over six thousand years?

Therefore, there's no room for sympathy towards them!

The ancestors of the Thirteen Families have lofty ideals, but those ideals belong only to them.

The Thirteen Families must pay an adequate price for the evils they have committed!

As the wooden cart rolled along, a snowflake unknowingly drifted down from the sky, and Little Dun opened her hands, joyfully gazing at the snowflake landing on her palms.

She was carefree, but Chen Shi felt a hidden worry as he looked at that snowflake.

"Wang Tianguan once said, back then that heavy snow lasted two to three years," his voice somehow became much deeper, as if it was resonating in his chest before he could speak.

He looked up, watching more snowflakes fall softly, as clouds had unknowingly gathered in the sky, blocking the moon and dimming the light quite a bit.

This winter is destined to be very cold.

The Black Pot was thrown ahead, exhaling misty steam at its nose and mouth, melting the snow around.

In a moment, a cold wind arose, carrying yin energy, bitterly chilling.

Little Dun excitedly ran off, playing in the wild, forming a snowball and throwing it at Chen Shi. She was carefree, but Chen Shi's concern weighed on him, and he did not respond to her.

Little Dun made another snowball and threw it at Chen Shi's head; he jumped off the cart, grabbed a snowball, and retaliated.

Little Dun quickly fled, the two frolicked back and forth, throwing snowballs and laughing nonstop.

Suddenly, Little Dun Fairy returned with a sullen face, jumped onto the wooden cart, sat down, and whispered, "Childish."

Her neck was covered with snow, so she had to slowly pull it out.

"Don't go!" Chen Shi rushed over, grabbed a snowball, and shoved it into her collar, laughing heartily.

Little Dun Fairy gave him a cold stare; Chen Shi originally intended to shove more, but seeing that, he hesitantly put down the snowball and climbed back into the wooden cart.

Little Dun Fairy noticed him sneaking a glance at her collar, became wary, hurriedly pulled up her collar, and looked at him unfriendly.

Chen Shi's heart pounded, he laughed, "I already saw during our wedding chamber; let me see again..."

"You say that again!" Little Dun Fairy was brimming with killing intent.

Chen Shi's heart swayed; he unwittingly recalled the enchanting scene from their wedding night, feeling somewhat moved, promptly controlling his thoughts to prevent Peng Jue's influence.

"Little Ten, from today forth, I'll teach you Laozi."

Scholar Zhu was hanging under Hua Gai, raised his hand to brush off the snow on his head, taught earnestly, and encouraged goodness, saying: "... this chapter says, thus often without desires, observe its wondrousness; often with desires, observe its subtleties. In a state of no desires, one can observe the profundity of the Dao; in a state of desires, one can observe the Dao's subtleties. Therefore, the Cultivation practitioners, when in meditation are in a state of no desires, and in daily life, they're in a state of desires. Cultivating in this way is the true Magic Skill."

Chen Shi originally pondered how to Cut Three Corpses due to desires, but upon hearing this, his heart was greatly shaken, blurting out, "Then Cutting Three Corpses, to eradicate desires, is it good or bad?"

Scholar Zhu said, "Having cut the Three Corpses, can one truly eradicate desires? It's not about eradication, just control."

Chen Shi asked, "Without Cutting Three Corpses, how to breakthrough?"

Scholar Zhu answered, "How would I know? I'm just a Scholar who didn't even pass the exam; I am a failure. You're the top scorer, much more capable than I am."

He suddenly burst into tears, sobbing, "I've lost the ancestral legacy!"

Little Dun Fairy's expression returned to normal, saying, "Don't listen to his nonsense, he misinterprets Laozi. If you cultivate according to his words, you'll only become misguided."

Chen Shi laughed, "If I don't Cut Three Corpses and reach the Three Corpses Realm, let me see."

Little Dun Fairy blushed, angry and embarrassed. If not for relying on his small temple to avoid Evil Transformation, she would surely teach this lecherous fellow a good lesson!

"You won't succeed!"

"If I succeed, you'll let me see!"

Little Dun Fairy was so angry she gritted her teeth loudly, then suddenly had an epiphany, smiling radiantly, "Fine. If you succeed, I'll let you see. If you fail, our marriage contract will be nullified, and I won't be your wife from then on!"

When she smiled at that moment, her charm was indescribable, irresistibly alluring.

Chen Shi agreed, laughing, "You should smile often. You look beautiful when you smile."

Little Dun Fairy huffed, "Don't disturb my mind, you can't provoke my desires... Nevermind, I'm going into seclusion!"

Somehow in a fit of anger, she flew off, burrowing into the small temple behind Chen Shi's head.

Scholar Zhu's voice came, "The young lady realized her attraction and is ashamed."

"If you keep spouting nonsense, I'll tear your tongue out, tie it around your neck, and choke you to death!" Little Dun Fairy's voice came from the small temple.

Scholar Zhu dared not tease her again; though Little Dun Fairy dared not harm Chen Shi, she was quite capable of doing in him, and Little Dun Fairy's strength was far superior, easily overpowering him.

Chen Shi clenched his fist, full of confidence, "I'll definitely see! Thus often without desires, observe its wondrousness; often with desires, observe its subtleties. This means, the subtlety of its use..."

Suddenly, he realized that by understanding this point, he could surely grasp the profoundness of breaking through without Cutting Three Corpses.

The wind and snow soon cleared; the moon peeked out once again, Chen Shi felt a bit relieved, jumping off the cart, saying, "Black Pot, come check the Geographical Map, I'm going to take a walk!"
