What is an immortal?

Chapter 510: Three Immortals Hall

"Father, you can't see through the barrier created by that token either? Could it be that it's also a counterfeit Spiritual Treasure? How did he, a Loose Cultivator at the Core Formation, come by so many treasures?" Golden Cloud Fairy was greatly surprised.

"That's why I told you before, never underestimate anyone in this world. In every era, there are always some individuals who go against the current and leap from obscurity to become influential figures. Shura Master was exactly like that," the majestic voice said.

"You're right, Father. Now it seems that Yuan Ming genuinely has the combat power of the Nascent Soul Level. Trying to forcibly seize the Cold Moon Ring might be troublesome," Golden Cloud Fairy frowned slightly.

"You, always so spoiled and willful, think only of seizing by force whenever you encounter something. There's more than one way to get the Cold Moon Ring," the majestic voice said helplessly.

"Do you mean for me to buy the ring from Yuan Ming's hands? But it's a counterfeit Spiritual Treasure; he might not be willing to sell it," Golden Cloud Fairy said.

"There's nothing that can't be obtained through the exchange of benefits. If it's not possible, it's either because the price offered isn't high enough or the benefits put forth don't suit the other party's taste," the majestic voice said indifferently.

"I understand..." Golden Cloud Fairy nodded slowly and soon turned into a streak of golden light, continuing to chase after Yuan Ming.

An hour later.

In a tranquil valley, a clear and broad stream flowed through, washing the pebbles on both banks smooth and round.

At the bottom of the river, clumps of water weeds that emitted a faint spirit light swayed gently, like a galaxy of stars echoing the starlight in the sky.

Many fish demons swam and hunted among the water weeds. Their Cultivation wasn't even on par with a First-level Demon Beast; they mostly fed on the water weeds. Although there were occasional skirmishes among them, blood was rarely seen.

But suddenly, a green-tailed fish demon about a zhang long darted out from nowhere, biting down on a small green-skinned fish and began to feast contentedly.

This demon's appearance resembled a carp but it had sharp teeth in its mouth and emitted the fluctuations of a Third-level Demon Beast's demonic power, startling the other fish demons so much that they dared not approach or even think of resisting it.

The green-tailed carp's eyes were blood red as its sharp teeth tore through the scales and flesh of the small fish, with the blood blooming in the river like a red lotus unfolding.

Just then, a sudden strong gust of wind swept down from the sky, causing the river water to surge towards the banks, fully exposing the green-tailed carp under the starlight.

However, as a Third-level Demon Beast, it wouldn't simply die from being out of water.

The fish demon's body reacted by instinctively conjuring several streams of water, enveloping itself and shooting off towards the distant river.

But in the next instant, a pair of blue-black claws descended from the sky, effortlessly tearing through the water currents and piercing the body of the green-tailed carp.

A towering oppressive might descended, and the once unassailable green-tailed carp rolled its eyes back, immediately falling unconscious.

The captor of this fish was a colossal blue-black eagle over a dozen zhang long. Its wings were as hard as steel and as sharp as swords, able to shoot feathers and run an enemy through effortlessly.

The giant eagle's talons exuded a piercing aura, as if they could penetrate all defenses, but the most frightening aspect was its eyes - startlingly bright, giving one the feeling that a blade or spear had pierced one's chest and leaving one terrified at heart.

Having caught its meal for the day, the eagle prepared to return to its nest to feast. Its sharp gaze suddenly swept towards the riverbank with a trace of confusion in its eyes.

But seeing nothing else around, the eagle dismissed the matter and soared into the sky, flying towards its nest.

Not long after the giant eagle left, the empty riverbank saw the sudden appearance of Yuan Ming and the others.

"I was scared to death; I thought we were discovered by the Sword Feathered Eagle. If it had set its sights on us, we probably wouldn't have had a chance to even run," Long Chong said with palpable relief.

"It might have sensed us when we were in the sky. But luckily we had Brother Hong's Invisibility Stone Talisman. Otherwise, we would have really had trouble," Yuan Ming speculated.

After leaving Cloud Top Hall, they returned to that valley and retrieved the Houtu Mountain Stone from the bottom of the pit.

As for the Houtu Mountain deep underground, Yuan Ming was powerless and could only watch helplessly as the treasure mountain lay beneath the earth.

Leaving that place, the four of them continued deeper into the continent. Despite the many perils along the way, their gains were substantial.

Long Chong nodded and asked casually, "On our way here, how many Level 4 Demon Beasts have we encountered so far?"

"Including the Heavy Mountain Elephant, that makes five," Qiong Yun answered.

"Alas, the Spiritual Energy on this continent is too abundant. It's capable of nurturing so many Level 4 Demon Beasts. If I could move the Spirit Vein below to my Thousand Dragon Island, I reckon I wouldn't need a year to attempt breaking through to the Nascent Soul Stage," Long Chong sighed.

"Daydreaming should be saved for sleep. Even if you had a way to extract the Spirit Vein here, do you think the four islands guarding the entrance would let you take it away just like that? If it wasn't for the heavy losses during the initial exploration, even if the islands united against us, Fusang's Four Islands wouldn't allow us to come in for a joint exploration. Should we get greedy, they won't be so easy to talk to anymore," Qiong Yun shook her head.

"Miss Qiong is right. Compared to the Spirit Vein that we can't obtain, the treasures hidden here are what truly deserve our attention," Yuan Ming agreed.

"While treasures are appealing, there are many Level 4 Demon Beasts around. Continuing to venture deeper, we don't know what dangers we'll encounter. Perhaps we shouldn't proceed and just look around here. The gains should still be considerable," Qiong Yun suggested.

Long Chong dismissed the idea with a careless wave of his hand, "We've come this far; it would be too shameful to run away at the mere prospect of dangers we haven't even seen. If we really encounter a beast of that level guarding treasures, we can always retreat. It's not necessarily going to pursue us relentlessly like the Heavy Mountain Elephant."

"Quite right. Without entering the tiger's den, how can one capture its cub?" Yuan Ming immediately nodded in agreement.

In his Dantian, the Purple Star Nine Dragon Spear hung silently, its tip pointing ahead, and the guiding force inside it became increasingly strong, as they got closer to the targeted location.

"With so many treasures on this continent, we've already made such progress after only a short time here. It would be a pity to stop now," Wulu added.

All four agreed to move forward, and Qiong Yun reluctantly accepted, so the team continued towards the deeper parts of the continent.

They hadn't traveled far when Wulu suddenly stopped with a soft exclamation, his eyes fixed on a patch of red flowers nearby.

"These..." Yuan Ming also showed surprise in his face, as the flowers were in fact dozens of red Spirit Grass shaped like a Phoenix with spread wings – the very Fengming Grass that Golden Cloud Fairy and Daoist Qian Bao entrusted them to find.

"It seems this is precisely the place that the Fusang Four Islands are looking for," he said, looking around.

"It's definitely Fengming Grass," Qiong Yun confirmed after carefully inspecting the Spirit Grass with a nod.

"If that's the case, let's quickly inform Golden Cloud Fairy and Daoist Qian Bao. This will also repay the favor for that Earth Core Fire Lotus from before," Long Chong said, taking out the Sound Transmission Talisman.

Yuan Ming glanced back but didn't refuse.

Golden Cloud Fairy was trailing behind them, and naturally, he had noticed her presence long ago; she must have already seen the Fengming Grass. Therefore, there was no use in trying to stop her.

After Long Chong notified Daoist Qian Bao, the group continued their journey along the riverside.

After an indeterminate amount of time, the meandering river reached its end, and a wide valley clearing appeared before Yuan Ming and his companions.

The ground was lush with fragrant flowers and plants, all basked in a faint glow of Spiritual Energy, illuminating the place brightly.

However, what captivated their attention the most was the massive palace standing at the center of the clearing.

The two-story palace was supported by twelve columns engraved with dragons, with a roof covered in four-colored glazed tiles, and its doors and windows were all intricately carved from jade, emitting a faint white luminescence under the stars, resembling a pavilion in the moon or a phantom in the water.

"Look at the plaque above!" Long Chong said, looking at the hall and suddenly widening his eyes.

Above the doors hung an ancient plaque with three characters shining in golden light – Three Immortals Hall.

A glimmer of excitement flashed in Yuan Nei's eyes, and the Purple Star Nine Dragon Spear inside his Dantian trembled violently, pointing towards the interior of the hall.

"Three Immortals Hall? It is said that this Secret Realm might be related to the Three Immortals Island; it could well be right here," Qiong Yun mumbled.

Suddenly, without a word, Wulu flew forward with a haste that suggested urgency.

This action startled Long Chong and the others to their senses, and they hastily followed, flying towards the palace.

Yuan Ming followed behind as well but moved neither hurriedly nor slowly.

As they were about to draw close, a three-colored barrier of Green, White, and Gold Spiritual Light suddenly rose up around the palace, enveloping it like petals and forming an impenetrable protective shield that pushed back Yuan Ming and his companions.

Long Chong immediately took out a Magic Treasure spear and struck the protective shield fiercely, but only a faint ripple flickered across the shield before it returned to calm.

"Such a sturdy barrier, it must be a Divine Skill of the Nascent Soul Level," Long Chong said with a darkened expression.

Wulu's eyebrows furrowed tightly, as if he was about to say something when a beam of golden light suddenly shot from behind towards them; it was Golden Cloud Fairy arriving on a streak of Golden Light, descending above the crowd.

"It's the Three Immortals Hall! We've finally found it!"

As Golden Cloud Fairy spoke, a twinge of excitement flashed across her eyes. Without caring to communicate with Yuan Ming and the others, she suddenly produced a silver Treasure Mirror from her palm, casting spells on it before tossing it above the palace.

Simultaneously, five more lights flew rapidly from the horizon; these were Daoist Qian Bao, Tu Sheng, Zhong Ling, Baili Zhui, and Hua Ping. Quickly, they too landed in front of the Three Immortals Hall.

Yuan Ming had already sensed the approach of the five and wasn't surprised.

"Haha, the Three Immortals Hall, my master was right; this is where my opportunity to advance to the Nascent Soul lies!" Daoist Qian Bao said ecstatically, looking at the grand hall in front of him.

Tu Sheng didn't speak but a flash of excitement passed through his eyes. Surprise was more prevalent on the faces of Zhong Ling and the others.

"Daoist Qian Bao, you invited us here for treasures, may I ask what treasures are inside the Three Immortals Hall?" Zhong Ling asked.

"Rest assured, Fellow Daoist Zhong, the treasures inside this hall will surpass your imagination. I can't elaborate on the specifics, but once we break through this barrier, you'll know," Daoist Qian Bao replied briefly to the three before ignoring them, then summoned a golden Magic Treasure shaped like a grinding disc to fiercely strike the Three-colored Shield.

Tu Sheng too summoned a broad and heavy battle sabre, slicing at the shield.

Zhong Ling and the others communicated in whispers, quickly summoning their Magic Treasures to strike at the barrier up ahead.

The situation took a dramatic turn; Long Chong and the others were unsure of what to do next.

"Brother Yuan, what should we do?" Long Chong asked Yuan Ming instinctively.

"Golden Cloud Fairy and Daoist Qian Bao hold this place in high regard; this Three Immortals Hall must be extraordinary. Since we're here already, we can't let go of such an opportunity. Let's join in and make a move as well," Yuan Ming said as he summoned the Thunder God Hammer, a thick bolt of thunder striking the Three-colored Shield.

Seeing this, Long Chong and the others also hurriedly summoned their Magic Treasures.

For a moment, various Magic Treasures and their Spiritual Light fiercely struck the Three-colored Shield, resulting in deafening booms. Ripples spread across the shield, growing more and more intense.
