Lord of the Magical Beasts

Chapter 701 - Mother Nest Crisis

Chapter 701: Mother Nest Crisis

“Ah! Leave, leave quickly.”

“Hurry up! Leave quickly!”

The powerful Twelve-Winged Angel leader was slaughtered by a single stroke of the Camel Peak Castle Master’s sword. Upon seeing this, the numerous angels that didn’t have a leader turned pale with fright. They weren’t a match for the Camel Peak Castle Master, and they cried out loudly as they attempted to speed into formation and resist the enemy jointly. Some of them were deathly pale, not knowing what to do, while others had turned around and left without uttering a word.

Even an angel leader with an apex Eighth-Level Divine Duty Expert’s power could be killed by a single sword strike, let alone ordinary angels. The angels faced the Camel Peak Castle Master’s sharp attacks, but their formation was quickly broken. The powerful Angel Battle Formation was forcefully splintered before it could release its power.

“Fine, Gary, give some face to the old Harrington.” The Camel Peak Castle Master snorted coldly, as he was about to take down a few hundred angels. But, at that moment, Biedrins, the Dimensional Merchant, flew toward him and spoke calmly.

He was a member of the Dimensional Wanderer Alliance, and he didn’t fear any Divine Branch or clan. Still, he didn’t want to be rash and get into a blood feud with a colossal faction like the City Amongst the Clouds.

“Fine, let’s go and have a few drinks. Our Infernal Fire Battle Team used to have so many brothers. Now, only the two of us are left.” The Camel Peak Castle Master, Gary, sheathed his sword and allowed the angels to escape. He looked at Biedrins, whom he hadn’t seen for a long time, and let out a sigh. He recalled the days when he traveled and fought shoulder to shoulder with so many brothers.

“Fine, let’s go. I have collected many treasures on my last trip to the Unending Ocean, and they will broaden your horizons.

“Hehe, it’s the same old rule. A piece of every similar object.” The Camel Peak Castle Master chuckled and said, “Oh, that’s right! You have gone to the Unending Ocean. So, did you see the Heavenly Nun?”

“Don’t talk about that. I have rummaged through all the dimensions, yet I still couldn’t find old Raymond, and I obviously don’t have the nerve to meet the Heavenly Nun.”

The Camel Peak Castle Master and the black-clothed Biedrins flew shoulder to shoulder, streaking across the sky like two comets. They disappeared instantly. The heavily-injured Hill King was behind them. He bandaged his wounds simply before he left with the last two remaining Dark Elf Guards. Camel Peak Castle quickly regained its calm, thanks to the efforts of the castle defense commander.

“Mertesacker, if you face the Camel Peak Castle Master or that Dimensional Merchant by yourself, what are the odds of your seizing the victory?” Even after the Camel Peak Castle Master had disappeared on the horizon, Yang Ling was still stunned by his powerful Holy Cross Cleave. He couldn’t help but compare it to the incredible sword strike Raymond had used to kill twelve angels.

“If I recover eight-tenths of my power, I would be able to fight each of them, and if I recover to my peak state, they’ll be no match for me unless they fight me jointly.” The Golden Roc chuckled confidently. The Camel Peak Castle Master was very powerful, but he was only at the same level as the mysterious old man the Golden Roc had met in the Graveyard of Gods and Devils. If the Golden Roc recovered to its peak state, it was confident that it would be able to defeat the Castle Master with only a hundred moves, or even inflict heavy injuries on him in just one move.

Normally, a Wandering Divine Beast’s power was slightly higher than that of ordinary Dimensional Wanderers, and this was especially true of an Inborn Wandering Divine Beast like the Golden Roc. Ordinary Dimensional Wanderers couldn’t rival it, and no one could ever learn its innate magical abilities.

“Good, very good.”

Yang Ling nodded with satisfaction. The Golden Roc would recover at a higher speed, thanks to the large amounts of energy contained in the Black Crystals and Moon Soul Stones, and it would one day recover to its peak state. It was just a matter of time. He had a very powerful general, and even if he came across powerful experts at the level of Core Deities or Dimensional Wanderers, he would still be able to put up a fight.

“Let’s look for a hotel to stay in. We should rest for several days before we leave.” It wasn’t easy to come across a Wandering Castle, so he planned to rest here for a while. He would have to travel a large distance to reach the Nine Phantom Mountain Range, and it would take a long time to get there, even if he rode the Golden Roc. So for now, he didn’t have to hurry.

Camel Peak City had a large population spread over a great expanse. It also had all kinds of goods. After they settled into a large, comfortable hotel, the Corpse Wizard King led the Dark Dragon King, Ophelia, and the others to get information and supplies, as well as to make inquiries about news related to the Death Dimension. The Corpse Wizard King dreamed day and night of buying a Star Indicator that would point out the Death Dimension’s location. As for Yang Ling, he walked with Yuna, Sofia, and Alice, and they wandered all over.

The three women walked down a street and observed the dazzling lineup of all kinds of clothes, ornaments, and other items from many foreign lands. Yuna, Sofia, and Alice were very energetic as they strolled from one street to another to another.

They walked from noon until early evening, spending more than half a day shopping. As Yang Ling observed the three shopaholics next to him, who never seemed to get tired, he frequently shook his head and chuckled. The Golden Roc and Kaleisa, who were following behind them, had also been enchanted by the shops, and their spatial rings were filled to the brim. They also carried many items in their hands.

“Wow! What a beautiful Crystal Tree!”

“Look over there, they used crystals to create a waterfall!”

When Sofia and her companions passed by a large Crystal Shop, they peeked into a mesmerizing courtyard decorated with crystals. This resulted in Yang Ling’s spatial ring losing another pile of Black Crystals, and his money was squandered quickly.

“Lord, there is a tavern ahead. Let’s go inside it and have a few drinks. If we continue like this, even if we don’t die from exhaustion, we will just die of thirst!” Upon seeing that Sofia and her companions were still in high spirits, the Golden Roc was at a loss for words. It found this more tiring than a great battle. If it had known earlier that those three shopping maniacs would be so terrifying, it would have come up with an excuse to slip away early.

“Let’s go and see what’s special about a Wandering Castle’s good wine,” Yang Ling agreed loudly. They stepped into a fragrant tavern. He found a remote corner and sat down.

“Brothers, I have heard that the Angels of the City Amongst the Clouds followed the Hill King here to hunt down the Mother Egg he has, which could detect the Mother Nest’s location.” After a black-cloaked wanderer had had a few glasses of wine, he started bragging to his companions about the gossip he’d gathered.

“That isn’t right; why did I hear that the Power Dimension’s Power King had gotten the Mother Egg?” A bearded warrior shook his head and drank the rum in his glass in one gulp. He paused for a moment, then said, “I heard that the Mother Nest, which can produce Wandering Divine Beasts, has arrived into our Chaos Dimension, and that’s why the City Amongst the Clouds, the King of Darkness, the Algernon Divine Branch, and other great factions have all dispatched a large number of elites to fight over it.”

“It’s no wonder that many powerful wanderers have been seen so often in the Chaos Dimension recently. It must be because of this.”

“It can produce Wandering Divine Beasts! It’s so amazing. If I get the Mother Nest somehow, and become its owner, wouldn’t I be stronger than a lofty Core Deity?”

“Hehe. Brother Andrew, stop daydreaming! Even if the Mother Nest was standing motionless in front of you, you still wouldn’t be able to subdue it. You might even be devoured in one mouthful by the Mother Nest’s Guardian Divine Beasts, and not so much as a strand of hair will be left of you.”

As the wanderers got tipsy, they spoke in louder voices. More people joined the conversation, and the numerous wanderers that traveled all over talked about the rumors and gossip they’d heard on the way.

Someone said that the great factions fought over the Mother Nest and the situation descended into chaos. Another person said that the numerous Divine Branches and great clans hadn’t just dispatched a large number of elites; even their Core Deities had taken action. Someone else said that when the Mother Nest had arrived in the Chaos Dimension, it came into the Camelback Mountain Range. He also said that it had alerted the Camel Peak Castle Master, who had been practicing in seclusion for many years, as well as the Dimensional Merchant, Biedrins.

In the beginning, Yang Ling listened to them attentively, but later, he realized that the people’s stories were only getting more ridiculous, so he just shook his head. A lot of what was being said was based on groundless theories, and there were also some people with hidden agendas intentionally spreading rumors as a diversion. But it could still be ascertained that the Mother Nest really had arrived in the Chaos Dimension, giving rise to a serious battle between the various great factions.

A storm had begun due to the fight over the Mother Nest, a storm that would envelop the whole Chaos Dimension.

After Yang Ling ate and drank his fill, he left the tavern, quickly going to join the Corpse Wizard King and his assembled companions. The Corpse Wizard King had an abundance of Black Crystals, and he managed to supplement them with a large number of Camel Peak Castle’s special goods. But even after touring the whole castle, he couldn’t find the Death Dimension’s Star Indicator.

“Lord, I overheard a drunk wandering bard talking about the Starry Sky Castle in the Far West Land. Several hundred years ago, that land had a merchant who specialized in selling Star Indicators to wanderers. I wonder if he’s still there?” The Corpse Wizard King briefly explained his experience with the wandering bard he’d come across. He still didn’t have the Star Indicator that would help him return to the Death Dimension, but he did have a few more clues and a glimmer of hope.

A merchant who specialized in selling Star Indicators?

Yang Ling pondered this, and he recalled the Earth that appeared in his dreams a lot of times. If he could get the Earth’s or the Milky Way Galaxy’s Star Indicator, he could probably combine the Golden Roc’s speed with his own abilities to go back to his homeland. It wouldn’t be a hopeless dream any longer!

“Rodriguez, did you ask him how far the Far West Land’s Starry Sky Castle is from the Nine Phantom Mountain Range?” Yang Ling rode out the urge to get on the Golden Roc’s back immediately as he tried to get a better understanding of the situation.

“I don’t know its exact location, but according to what the wandering bard said before he left, it shouldn’t be too far. It’s probably on the way to the Nine Phantom Mountain Range,” the Corpse Wizard King said as he opened a Magical Map. He drew a large circle around the western side.

“Fine, issue a new order. We will rest in Camel Peak Castle tonight and set off tomorrow morning. We will try to make inquiries about the situation of the Nine Phantom Mountain Range and Starry Sky Castle as fast as we can.” Yang Ling issued these orders, then grabbed Sofia and Yuna’s little hands and left.

This time, they would travel to the Nine Phantom Mountain Range, and their main objective was exploring the legendary Skyreach Tower. But if they could get the Star Indicator of Earth and the Death Dimension on their way, so much the better.
