Meteor Fall Master in the 'Starry Abyss'

Chapter 59: Iron and Glaze

He seemed to have had a very long dream.

From being born of chaos, to being named in reality, from wielding the sword in battle, to usurping the throne, from resisting invasion, to defeat and exile.

——[God of the Present World]Leoz, that ordinary, mundane life.

Gaia's wolf claws were supposed to descend with killing intent and death, ending this life. As a cannon fodder deity, its soul was not destined to return to the Nether Abyss, leaving only the fate of soul dispersal.

However, the trajectory of the dream changed.

Gaia did not kill him but instead exiled Leoz to the Starry Abyss.

——What was it planning? Was it playing a big game of chess, or simply amusing itself out of boredom? Or perhaps it believed itself to be invincible and felt no restraint?

Regardless, Leoz only knew one thing: He was still alive.

Not only that, but when [Eternal Speaker] Redd Gold wielded the Divine Sword Veilue against him, it didn't cause damage; instead, it bestowed upon him a faint desire.

That desire was called 'discontent'.

Discontent with others having what he did not, discontent with his efforts being ignored, discontent with what should be his falling into others' hands.

It's just like Releti once said, name him with the meaning of 'understanding'. It was precisely to help him one day find what he truly desired.

Leoz decided to raid Xides, take away all its privileges and identity, and ultimately, kill it completely.

Restricted by the curse of the Layer Abyss, he had to reside in the mortal 'Li Aozi', intending to rest and recuperate, but an accident happened—'Li Aozi' was killed by the Spirit Monster, and the long-term presence inside a mortal's body led his humanity and divinity to start diverging.

This was not a bad thing.

Leoz had long realized that what he lacked was emotions and desires similar to humanity, things seen by humans as base original sins, yet these were desirous to Leoz.

What exactly was it that he longed for?

Was it the desire to overthrow the injustice of the Starry Abyss, the desire for supreme power, to be the Sovereign, or the desire for an independent, free body?

When Li Aozi chose to abandon his principles and opted for more efficient means, it was then that Leoz truly understood this point:

What he truly desired... was to break the chains of this class, to progress from a nameless cannon fodder to a revered and recognized deity.

Efficiency.

He had never had self-awareness as a mortal; his belonging was to the Starry Abyss Divine Race, and it could only be to the Starry Abyss Divine Race. The more he hated the injustice of the Starry Abyss, the more it actually reflected his yearning for it.

Efficiency.

Does humanity and divinity, principles and morals, still matter?

Efficiency.

If the order of the entire Starry Abyss is not reshaped, everything is meaningless.

For the sake of purpose, for the sake of efficiency, everything can be compromised, the debate between humanity and divinity holds no significance.

Only higher efficiency, better planning, and distribution are the most important.

"The human Li Aozi has already made a decision."

In the depths of the soul, Li Aozi and Leoz leaned back to back, their backs deeply interlocked, clinging tightly.

"Now, I will also make further integration."

The red-black Ersha surged into the depths of the mind, swallowing them like a flood, carrying the soul of Li Aozi (Leoz) as it raced across the plains of the Border Abyss, constantly searching for a suitable body.

The first thing found was a tick egg, but Li Aozi soon abandoned this being without limits, opting for suicide rebirth.

Next was a red jackal called Rongka, who was pregnant. Although this creature was powerful, it lacked the potential to wield Arcane Energy, so Li Aozi had to give up.

The power from Lord Entropy seemed to transcend spacetime; Li Aozi (Leoz) couldn't observe how this power functioned or from where it originated. Often, it felt as if it were created out of thin air. Nonetheless, its speed was astonishing, crossing thousands of light-years in less than half an hour, and it continued to expand the search range.

Wildcat cubs, maggot eggs, shark fry, plant embryos, fungal spores...

Li Aozi was very patient, hoping to find something most suitable, ideally a Narrative Citizen, even if not a formal citizen within the Inherent Time Domain, as long as it was a citizen-qualified organism in contact with a civilized city-state.

And the power of Lord Entropy seemed to understand his thoughts, continuously searching for similar targets across this land.

Over two days, the spread speed of Ersha became faster, providing Li Aozi with more and more templates.

However, problems also arose.

As an Ascender of a non-Mysterious Pathway, without a body to inhabit, the lonely soul cannot persist in the Starry Abyss for long. In fact, the strength of the Mysterious Pathway largely lies in their ability to disregard the environment, to depart their spirit body at any moment, traversing the cosmic space without damage from neutrinos or harmful waves.

Li Aozi's soul, in essence, was still Leoz's soul; the soul strength of a cannon fodder deity was nothing extraordinary. Moreover, after experiencing countless battles, Leoz's soul was considerably damaged. Being picky was no longer suitable.

[There's no choice... the Border Abyss is too vast.]

Li Aozi wasn't stubborn; weighing the situation, he calculated: given the current situation, even if the speed of Ersha increased further, Leoz's soul couldn't hold on until reaching the territories controlled by the Narrative Civilization.

In the end, he decided to settle for second best, as long as it was a civilized person.

Ersha seemed to understand his request and quickly found a human embryo for him.

[Rebirth embryo found (Unconscious)]

[Proceed with rebirth?]

Li Aozi could no longer be concerned. The harm Xides once caused to the spiritual body of Leoz was still not fully healed.

The remaining problems would be dealt with later.

[Transferring consciousness...]

Li Aozi felt himself being pulled by an invisible force into another body.

[Because you possess the blessing of the Border Abyss—Free Will, your rebirth will not change your previous name, memory, or personality, but may add more qualities and abilities.]

[——————Recording Information——————]

[Rong Yinghao Entropy!]

[The talent "Zero Point Entropy Annihilation" has triggered a mysterious power. It seems to come from an ancient existence—but now, it harbors no malice towards you and instead begins to support you, showing an intent to invest.]

[You can choose:]

[A: Inherit all talents from your previous life, but only one specialty.]

[B: Inherit all specialties from your previous life, but no talents.]

Li Aozi was slightly surprised:

"Ancient power—does it refer to Lord Entropy? This guy is actually siding with me? No, it must be because it foresaw some terrible enemy, thus needing to ally with me—is it the Secret? Or something even more terrifying than the Secret?"

However, there was no more time, and Li Aozi couldn't continue pondering the issue; he focused his energy on the choice.

"Regarding specialties, aside from "Unilateral Action", none of the other specialties are much needed. Initially, I specifically aimed for Perpetual Vanguard, but descending the Lower Realm Abyss was too late, and there was no opportunity to use it."

Li Aozi contemplated:

"But talents, whether "object resonance" or the racial talent of Moon Zealot, are just too useful. I can't possibly discard them."

Thankfully, he retained the occupation of [Lunar String Archbishop] when he died; otherwise, that transformation talent as the [Corona Pope] would have been useless in the Border Abyss.

As mentioned, specialties can be refined, but talents are innate and not so easily obtained.

After some consideration, Li Aozi decided to keep only the specialty "Unilateral Action", as realistically, over the years, this was the only specialty he found most useful.

As for the talent of "object resonance", Li Aozi dared not guarantee he could easily obtain it again.

Upon finishing his choice, the system panel vanished like a vortex, and Li Aozi's consciousness gradually became heavy, inevitably slipping into a state of deep sleep.
