The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 334: Those Who Sell Their Souls to Demons

Early the next morning, the Dantes family got up early and hurried to the place where they had arranged to meet with Lumier, to take a carriage to their future new home on King Street, located in the heart of the Holy City.

The carriage stopped at the entrance of the street, and the coachman looked at the people in the carriage with a troubled expression.

"Sir, carriages without a family crest are not allowed here… Shall we get off here?"

Most wealthy areas of the Holy City prohibit foreign carriages from entering, citing the reason that untrained horses might relieve themselves indiscriminately.

This is actually inaccurate.

After all, Edmond witnessed a carriage with a distinctive family crest drop a large pile on Loyalty Street, which took several days before a neighbor, unable to bear the smell, finally picked it up.

"Here is fine."

Lumier handed two coins to the coachman and signaled the Dantes family to follow him towards their destination amidst the latter's words of thanks.

The bright sunlight fell on the wide and clean cobblestone streets, with tall oak trees and flower beds flanking the beautiful and elegant detached villas on both sides, which was quite pleasing to the eye.

The villas behind the lush lawns were uniformly built with light-colored stone, their windows spotless, and the balconies adorned with meticulously trimmed potted plants. Occasionally, young servants in long dresses could be seen.

The environment here was a world apart from Loyalty Street.

Although it's not the King who lives on this street, at least they've escaped the common folk…

Perhaps?

Edmond Dantes looked around at the scenery and felt a mix of emotions, a combination of longing and trepidation. He subconsciously adjusted his collar, trying to make himself look a bit more presentable… at least not to look like a newspaper deliveryman.

Just then, a newspaper boy ran past him, shouting loudly as he ran.

"Extra! Extra! Regent King Granville Pot hosted His Highness Roxey Colin from the Gana Continent at a banquet in Valencia Manor! There's explosive news on the second page of the newspaper! This news worth tens of thousands of Gold Coins is now only 5 copper coins! Ladies and gentlemen, what are you waiting for? Quickly buy a copy! It's really not expensive!"

The young man was shouting with great effort, and the surname Colin almost instantly showed its allure.

Passing gentlemen and ladies threw coins into the newspaper boy's hat, taking a newspaper and standing by the street to read it carefully, each with a different expression on their face.

Seeing those people so absorbed, the initially self-conscious Edmond suddenly felt as if he had been filled with the divine grace granted by Saint Sis, and his deflated chest quietly puffed up again.

His wife, Anna, walked by his side, breathing rapidly, her hands nervously clutching a silk handkerchief, constantly reminding the children: "Lucian, Sofia, Francois, you must be polite when we go inside, and don't run around, understand? Especially you, Emily!"

Little Emily clutched her sister Sofia's skirt tightly, her big curious eyes widening as she nodded vigorously.

"Mm! I know."

Lucian tried to remain calm, projecting an air of the eldest son. However, his continuously clenching and unclenching fists betrayed his excitement and unease.

His brother Francois appeared more timid, glancing around as if looking for a crack on the ground to crawl into and hide.

Sofia did hold her head high, but there was little confidence in her timid gaze, which often fell on passersby, fearing they would realize that their family did not belong here and would be thrown off the street by patrolling guards.

Of course, the guards would never do that, but those occasional glances made the family uneasy.

The only one who remained composed was Lumier.

After closely observing Lord Demon King, he had learned the ability to—

No matter what happens, keep the expression on your face in check, imagine yourself as part of the surroundings, and completely blend into the environment.

"It seems we've arrived." Lumier stopped in front of an exquisite ivory-colored villa, pausing to admire it with a satisfied, selective glance.

Edmond's breathing noticeably quickened, looking at the magnificent door with a copper-plaqued address, and for a moment felt hesitant.

Lumier had let him choose any house he wanted, but Edmond didn't know which one wouldn't disgrace the Prince or give the impression of being greedy, so he remembered hearing people talk about how the wealthy and influential merchants of the Holy City lived here.

Indeed, several gate plaques were adorned with noble emblems… at least of baronial rank.

He didn't know the real estate prices here, but just by looking at the elegantly decorated doors and meticulously trimmed lawns, he knew the price was definitely not within his reach.

Saint Sis above…

Edmond couldn't help but let out a groan in his heart, trying to maintain composure on the verge of breaking.

The stable in the courtyard was almost bigger than his previous house!

The real estate agent showing the property was a neatly dressed young gentleman whom Lumier had contacted in advance through the newspaper address.

The man in the tailcoat stood at the door, his gaze sweeping over the Dantes family's attire, causing the smile on his face to freeze momentarily, then turned into a polite yet slightly aloof expression.
