The Lord Demon King is Unfathomable!

Chapter 338: Piece in the Shadows_3

Luo Yan's eyebrows rose slightly.

"With what you've said, I'm even more curious about him now."

"You will see him soon, just hope you won't be disappointed..." Kosel chuckled, opened the door for Luo Yan and his guard, and made a gesture of invitation, "We're here!"

Luo Yan stepped slowly into the workshop located deep in the courtyard, a musty smell mixed with the scent of machine oil greeted him.

His gaze casually swept over the surroundings, only to see the room filled with various metal parts, half-finished products, and discarded mechanical devices, making the originally spacious area seem somewhat cramped.

Luo Yan carefully examined the mechanical designs, which seemed crude yet full of ingenuity. On a table not far away lay a small clockwork doll, appearing to be modified from old toys. And in a nearby corner, there was an enclosed metal hull with a peculiar structure and small proportions.

That thing might be the "Iron Armor Ship" Kosel mentioned, but to him, it looked like a model of a submarine.

"...These are just some gadgets Dinger usually tinkers with, nothing much, please excuse us, Your Highness." Kosel said, scratching his head shyly.

Nothing much?

That's hard to say.

Luo Yan smiled slightly without responding, but his gaze inadvertently drifted toward the depths of the workshop.

Behind a workbench, a thin, scruffy-haired young man was engrossed in tapping away at a pile of complex metal parts.

He appeared to be about twenty-five or twenty-six, wearing goggles on his nose, with his bangs stuck to the lenses with sweat, seemingly oblivious to everything around, neither noticing the happenings outside nor realizing people had come inside.

Seeing him lacking awareness, Kosel hurriedly walked up and grabbed his shoulder.

"Dinger! Dinger! Stop tinkering with that junk! Look who's here!"

Dinger was startled, suddenly looking up at Kosel, then followed his gaze to see Luo Yan and Sarah behind him. His eyes didn't clear up but instead looked even more puzzled and bewildered.

Kosel, seeing his daze, quickly leaned closer to his ear to remind him.

"This is Prince Colin!"

This homebody clearly didn't recognize Colin but did understand the word "Prince."

He was startled, awkwardly removing his goggles and blushing as he bowed, nearly toppling over.

"Your Highness?! What brings you here..."

Luo Yan didn't answer, merely looking with interest at the unfinished "artwork" on the workbench.

It was a metal bird made from wire, except the connections weren't joints but intricately designed linkages and gears.

Luo Yan thought it looked familiar, staring at it for a long time before suddenly realizing.

Goodness—

A flapping wing machine?!

Of course, this wasn't like the ones from "Dune," but rather like those drawn on Da Vinci's sketches.

Though this guy hadn't truly completed it, back on Earth, that person didn't manage to make it either?

Considering that magic exists in this world, this guy's chances are significantly higher than that of a 14th-century artist.

Luo Yan liked this "aeromodelling" very much, but he showed no expression and calmly asked, "Mr. Kajuna, what is this in front of you?"

In the face of nobility, Dinger was noticeably more nervous than his friend.

However, when talking about his work, his eyes immediately shone, and his tone became excited, as if he were a different person.

"Your Highness... this is my latest... uh... a concept, a flight device mimicking birds, theoretically allowing humans to soar in the sky without relying on magical power."

Seemingly afraid of being laughed at, he quickly added another sentence before finishing.

"Please don't laugh at me, Your Highness. I read in some ancient historical texts that about a thousand years ago, people flew into the sky without relying on magic, supposedly in the southern region of the Ryan Kingdom, where they rode air currents using a few pieces of paper..."

The more he talked, the more excited he became, gesticulating wildly.

However, Kosel next to him was starting to be scared witless, worried that Dinger's unfiltered words would offend the Holy Light Nobles, and more worried that these theories would be associated with the Church's banned heresy of the "Mechanical God."

"Ahem! Dinger!" He coughed loudly, frantically signaling for him to stop.

Dinger seemed to realize he had said too much, his face changed slightly and he reverted to being the reserved and cautious young man.

Luo Yan wasn't concerned with the things the Holy City Citizens feared.

However, he knew that as long as he stood on the land illuminated by Holy Light, such interesting topics couldn't be discussed, so he didn't make things difficult for those who couldn't help themselves.

He was unlike Linte Isaac; he wouldn't force people to do things out of their time, at most placing them at a crossroads of his design, letting them make their own choices.

Anyway, he could guess what they would choose.

The human body is always more honest than the mouth.

"Mr. Kajuna's idea is very... bold and creative. Maybe it's because the Gana Continent is too far from the Holy City, but people there aren't so taboo about what you mentioned. And personally, I am quite interested in your concept."
