Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 471: The Crime Scene (Part 3)

Danielle Winters was sitting by the car, hugging her knees and crying, "My colleague went over to check on her, she seemed alright, not severely injured.

Soon after, the ambulance arrived and declared the female victim who was hit dead.

She was in her twenties...she was supposed to have a wonderful life...

I still vividly remember that scene now..."

The Deputy Captain asked, "Why did the car accident happen?"

Rafik Bentley replied, "We also questioned Danielle Winters, but she was badly shaken. She was crying and shaking her head, saying she didn't see her, saying she was terrified, and didn't know how she hit someone.

Later, we sent the car for inspection and found that the car was speeding at the time, the perpetrator committed dangerous driving. But because she was only seventeen years old and not an adult, the sentence was not long."

The Deputy Captain flipped through the notes and continued asking, "I've read the materials on this traffic accident case, wasn't there another passenger, Little William Moses, in the car at that time?"

"Yes, Little William Moses is Danielle Winters' boyfriend, he was also in the car that night. He was injured from the collision and went to a nearby clinic for treatment immediately.

We found him the next day for a statement, his description was basically consistent with the scene."

The Deputy Captain asked, "Were there any doubts about this traffic accident case?"

Rafik Bentley shook his head, "No, Little William Moses and Danielle Winters' statements were consistent, we handled it according to procedure."

Procedure, the Deputy was all too familiar with procedure, the victim was already dead on the spot. If Little William Moses and Danielle Winters colluded, dealing with the so-called procedure would be the easiest thing.

The Deputy Captain asked, "Was Little William Moses's injury severe?"

"Since what was hit was a bicycle, both Little William Moses and Danielle Winters were not seriously injured."

"Can we confirm it was Danielle Winters driving the offending vehicle?"

"This car was indeed Danielle Winters's, besides she admitted it herself, and even her boyfriend verified this point, we have no reason to doubt."

After noting it down in his book, the Deputy Captain said, "How much do you know about the victim's situation?"

"The victim was named Kaya Ray.

She wore a white dress that night, stained with red blood, looking quite eerie.

I found identification and a mobile phone on her, contacted her parents.

Their home was not far from the crime scene. Her parents arrived quickly." Rafik Bentley showed a helpless expression,

"They were crying so heartbreakingly.

She was their only daughter, their anchor and Hope, the scene was very… distressing."

The Deputy Captain nodded, "I understand. Nothing is purer than a parent's love for their child.

How are her parents now? Still living in Los Angeles?"

Rafik Bentley shook his head, "Not very well.

I heard that shortly after the car accident, the mother of the victim Kaya Ray also passed away.

As for her father, he still seems to live in Los Angeles."

"How did the victim's mother die?"

"I'm not sure, I didn't ask in detail." Rafik Bentley sighed,

"But I guess it might be related to the victim's death; she probably couldn't accept it, both physically and mentally crumbled.

Actually, I think the most painful person is the victim's father, losing the two women he loved the most in such a short time.

Sometimes death isn't terrifying, but the one who remains is the most painful."

The Deputy Captain faintly felt he had grasped something, a desperate helpless old man, what is his motivation to continue living?

Is there any better motive for murder than this?
