Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 523: Chris (Part 2)

The content of the text message mainly had two points: first, it expressed a willingness to cooperate.

Second, it proactively offered twenty thousand US Dollars for a twenty percent share.

With both face and substance offered, Zhang Jianguo had done everything he could, and felt more at ease.

Now, it was all up to fate.

...

Saint Thomas Island Dock.

Dozens of luxury yachts were docked here.

There are more than 50 islands in the US Virgin Islands, and many tourists who come here rent a yacht to travel between the islands, which is a major feature of local tourism.

At this moment, Luke boarded a white luxury yacht—the Chris.

The yacht had two levels, with a total length of nearly one hundred feet, lavishly decorated inside, with complete facilities including a cockpit, lounge, a small bar, four bedrooms, two restrooms, and a bathroom, far more luxurious than the fishing boats Luke used before.

"Boom boom..."

Rapid running footsteps came from the deck as the girl with glasses ran around excitedly, "Oh my God! This yacht is so beautiful, can I take a picture? I can't wait to post it on Facebook."

"NO, it's best not to do that." Lilith explained, "Don't forget the purpose of our visit this time; posting on Facebook would expose our whereabouts.

Although there might not necessarily be danger, it's better to avoid unnecessary trouble."

Luke showed an approving look. Although he was in a recreational mindset for the treasure hunt, avoiding basic mistakes when possible was wise; people may get killed, but one shouldn't die stupidly.

"Can I at least take some pictures first and post them after the treasure hunt is over?"

"Good idea." Lilith extended her right hand, "Let me help you shoot it; I've studied photography before." Lilith glanced at Luke beside her, adding, "I also studied diving and first aid."

Luke looked around, "This was specifically directed at me."

"I just don't want to be seen as a spoiled second-generation rich kid who always falls behind."

"I never said that."

"But some people think so."

Luke said, "What they think and say doesn't matter as much as what they do."

"You're right, as the leader of this treasure hunt, I should indeed be doing something." Lilith glanced at her watch, "Give everyone half an hour to pack their luggage.

Thereafter, Glasses Girl will drive the boat.

We should familiarize ourselves with the surrounding environment, and at 7 PM, we'll have a small party on the yacht.

To celebrate the official formation of our treasure hunting team.

What does everyone think?"

"Great idea."

"You are the boss."

Soon, everyone moved to action; Luke's luggage wasn't much, just some outdoor gear and a few light clothes to change into. He was the first to finish packing.

The yacht had all the fishing rods and gear Luke needed, so he simply sat on the deck fishing; the feeling was quite enjoyable.

However, a question sat in his mind: while the yacht was indeed comfortable to live in, was it really suitable for a treasure hunt?

Yet considering Lilith's identity and the real goal of the treasure hunt, Luke didn't say much.

Half an hour later.

The Chris yacht officially set sail, speeding along the azure Caribbean Sea. The ocean was crystal clear with high visibility, allowing them to see fish swimming and, in shallower areas, the white sand beaches on the seabed.

Luke fixed two fishing rods by the side of the ship: one with a thicker line and one with a thinner line. Different lines were paired with different hooks, capturing different types of fish.

After securing the rods, Luke stood by the ship's side, admiring the surrounding scenery. The beauty of the Caribbean was no less than that of Hawaii, and each island had its own different scenery, thanks to the many islands here.

Gazing at the vast sea view and beautiful natural scenery, Luke almost forgot about the treasure hunt, believing he was on vacation.

A gust of fragrant wind came, and Luke turned to see Lilith standing not far away, looking into the distance with binoculars.

Luke tentatively asked, "Any discoveries?"

"No, the suspected treasure island is rather remote; we probably can't reach it today."

Luke asked, "Where did you find Glasses Girl and Elsa Marin? Are you familiar with them?"

"Not very familiar."

"Are they reliable?"

"Glasses Girl's mother has worked at our home for a long time. Glasses Girl has been smart since childhood, especially talented in electronics, and my father is sponsoring her college education.

Elsa Marin was recommended by an elder; she met her while vacationing here, studied in the mainland United States, and knows the situation here well. She's a very suitable guide."

Luke asked, "How confident are you about finding the treasure?"

"I don't know either. Although I made a lot of preparations beforehand, it's still my first treasure hunt..." Lilith showed a look as if he'd understand.

Luke curiously asked, "Besides that treasure map, are there any other clues about the treasure?"

Lilith hesitated slightly, then flashed a sweet smile, "Your fish has taken the bait."

Luke turned his head and sure enough saw the thick-line rod showing movement; he firmly grasped the rod and pulled hard.

"Boom"

The 100-pound fishing line was taut, with immense force seemingly trying to pull Luke off the boat.

He's caught something big.

Luke let the line out longer, first to exhaust the fish's strength.

Lilith asked, "Need any help?"

"This fish is very strong; it might take a while to pull it in. Let Glasses Girl slow down the boat."
