Sleeping on a yacht wasn't as good as imagined. The constant rocking of the boat caused Luke some insomnia.
Although Luke was quite tired, he just couldn't fall asleep.
He faintly heard a rustling noise, and his police instinct caused a trace of alertness to rise within him.
Since he couldn't sleep anyway, he might as well get up to patrol the yacht, enjoy the sea breeze, and take in the night view. Perhaps a lap around might actually help him fall asleep.
He opened the bedroom door, stepping into the corridor on the first floor of the yacht, which had three rooms.
Luke's room was near the door, the room in the middle belonged to Glasses Girl, and Elsa Marin's room was at the very end.
However, Elsa Marin wasn't staying on the yacht tonight; she would join them at the dock in the morning.
The second floor housed the cockpit, the lounge, and the master bedroom.
Lilith stayed in the master bedroom on the second floor, with the most spacious room and the best view.
Luke opened the door on the first floor of the yacht, greeted by a cool sea breeze.
Luke walked to the deck, habitually scanning the yacht, noticing that the lounge door was ajar. He immediately reached into his pocket for his gun, ready to check the second-floor lounge.
Luke softly and quietly treaded up the stairs to the second floor, with the cockpit on the left and the lounge on the right.
The lounge's back door could lead to the master bedroom.
The lounge's door was slightly open. Luke didn't use a flashlight nor turn on the lights, but relying on the night glow, he could vaguely make out his surroundings.
Meanwhile, the noise grew clearer, and Luke was certain the sound came from the lounge.
Luke pushed open the lounge door, spotting a figure with a black hood rummaging through a cabinet. The figure turned its head upon hearing the noise from the doorway.
Luke raised his gun, aiming at the figure, "Don't move!"
In the moonlight, Luke could roughly make out the figure's shape, about six feet tall, wearing a hood and black clothes. At a glance, it was obviously not a decent person, judging by the physique, likely a man.
Luke ordered, "Put your hands on your head and kneel down.
What are you looking for?"
The figure didn't respond but followed Luke's orders, putting his hands on his head and kneeling down.
"Do you have any weapons?"
"No."
"Do you have other accomplices..." Luke hadn't finished asking when he faintly sensed movement behind him.
Luke turned, twisted his waist, and tilted his head to check.
An iron bar came crashing down with fierce momentum. Luke, agile as ever, quickly retreated, narrowly avoiding this fatal blow.
Though Luke dodged his head and body, the iron bar struck his gun. The impact was significant, and to avoid injury to his hand, Luke instinctively released the gun, deflecting the force from the iron hit.
The iron bar hit the barrel but didn't hit Luke's hand. He let go of the gun in time, so his hand wasn't injured.
However, the gun fell to the ground.
Reacting swiftly, without a moment's hesitation, Luke swung his left fist, punching towards the head of the masked attacker.
The attacker blocked his head with his arms.
Luke's punch veered downward.
"Bang!"
Luke's fist struck the attacker's cheek. Although it didn't hit the head, it still caused significant damage.
The attacker was stunned, tilting left due to the impact.
Luke had no intention of letting him off. Seizing the moment, he kicked towards the attacker's stomach.
"Bang!"
The attacker was launched backwards, dropping the iron bar to the ground.
Luke bent down to grab the gun, but the hooded thug also rushed over, sliding to kick the gun away, sending it flying out of the lounge and through the banister gap to the first floor.
Luke was a step too slow to grab the gun, clenching his fists instead and punching hard into the hooded man's stomach.
"Ugh!" The hooded thug let out a painful groan, his body curling like a shrimp.
Luke ignored him; his priority was to find his gun. Even if he didn't use it, he couldn't let the other thug get it.
As expected, the masked thug had already stood up and descended to the first floor, aiming for the gun as well.
Luke immediately gave chase, just in time to see the masked thug bending down to pick up the gun.
He kicked hard, knocking the thug over, sending him rolling towards the side of the boat.
"Son of a bitch..."
The masked man seemed scared, cursing before opting not to contest with Luke, he quickly scrambled over the side of the boat and plunged into the sea.
Luke picked up the gun, walking to the side of the boat to inspect. He could vaguely see the figure underwater. Luke aimed his gun at the figure in the sea, intending to shoot, only to find the barrel bent—likely damaged by the earlier iron bar hit.
Looking back up to the yacht's second floor, Luke saw the hooded man clutching his stomach, leaving the lounge. He was more decisive, stepping on the second-floor railing before jumping directly into the sea.
"Splash!" A splash of water erupted.
He dove into the water, almost disappearing from sight.
Luke holstered his gun, choosing not to pursue further. Although he was a good swimmer, he didn't overestimate his abilities compared to the locals. Fighting in the sea would reduce his combat capability. Besides, with the surrounding darkness, if the opponents had more accomplices, Luke would be at a disadvantage.
"Creak..."
A door sound signaled. The door of the first-floor cabin opened, and Glasses Girl rushed out, holding a gun, "Don't move, or... I'll shoot!"
