Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 313 Setting Off_3

The woman dragged her luggage and gave a polite smile, "Sorry, I didn't mean to bump into you."

"The aisle is a bit narrow, don't worry about it."

"Sir, could you help me put the suitcase in the overhead compartment? I've brought quite a bit, and lifting the suitcase is somewhat heavy for me."

Luke didn't refuse the small favor and lifted the other person's suitcase into the overhead compartment.

"Thank you, my name is Laura. My company sent me to Washington on business, and you?"

"Luke, traveling with the family."

"I'm jealous. The last time I traveled with my family was six months ago." The woman finished speaking and sat on the other side of the aisle, taking out her headphones to listen to music.

Val glanced at Luke and then appraised the bandage-skirt beauty Laura, giving his eye a squeeze, "Luke, that girl is not bad, don't say your uncle didn't remind you."

Luke smiled. Usually, when people asked like this, there was another implication, basically asking if you're interested or not, because if you're not, I'll go for it.

"What are you grinning for? With such a good opportunity, of course, you should take the initiative to make a move."

Luke also gave Laura a glance and secretly compared her to Orty. Both were Latin beauties, but Orty had a taller figure and a more outstanding temperament; Luke still preferred Orty.

Luke countered, "Want to switch seats?"

Val was taken aback, "Wow." Val rubbed his hands on his legs, "Are you sure you don't want to give it a try?"

"No."

Val swallowed, took a deep breath, and glanced at the Latin beauty Laura, then at himself, "Eh... forget it."

"Huh..."

The chubby kid had been paying attention to the situation and seeing his uncle clearly tempted but too afraid to act, he couldn't help but let out a hiss.

Val said discontentedly, "What are you hissing for?"

The chubby kid clenched his fist, "Uncle, you need to be braver."

"You little brat, what do you know."

"You're right, I don't know, but I have a girlfriend.

I almost forgot, I haven't told Maggie that I boarded the plane, hehe."

Val glared at Jack and sighed heavily, "I really want to hit him!"

Luke patted his shoulder, "You'll get used to it."

"Bang!"

Suddenly, a square object hit Val on the head, causing him to grimace in pain, "Fuck, who threw that?"

A Caucasian woman stood up from the row in front, with a hint of apology, "Sir, I'm so sorry. The kids were horsing around and accidentally hit you." Then she turned to a curly-haired little boy and said, "Most, apologize to this gentleman."

The curly-haired boy complained, "Where's my Rubik's Cube? That's my toy."

A little girl next to him said, "No, it was clearly you who snatched it from my hands."

An older girl wearing glasses shouted, "Can you two shut up and let me read my book in peace? It's been noisy the whole trip, I'm almost fed up."

The Caucasian woman scolded, "Luna, don't be so hard on your brother and sister."

The girl with glasses turned her head away and sulked in silence.

The Caucasian woman was full of apologies, "Sorry, the kids might be a bit noisy."

Linda said nonchalantly, "I understand, being the mother of three kids isn't easy."

"Four." The Caucasian woman pointed at a boy sitting by the aisle, "That one is also my son."

"Wow." Linda showed a look of admiration, "That's a big project, you are a super mom."

The Caucasian woman laughed, "Sorry, this trip might be a bit 'noisy,' I'll try to keep them in check."

Linda replied, "It's all right, I have two sons and a little brother, I know how hard it is to take care of kids."

"Thank you," said the Caucasian woman, who then sat back down in her own seat.

Luke didn't pay much attention to this minor disturbance; a few minutes later, the plane took off, heading for Washington.

Soon, Luke understood the meaning behind the Caucasian woman's remark about it being a bit noisy.

The two little kids wouldn't stop roughhousing, with the slightly older children joining in from time to time, along with the adults' scolding voices.

It was really annoying.

Luke didn't want to lower himself to the level of the children, so he simply put on headphones to watch a movie...

At three in the afternoon, the plane landed at Washington Dulles International Airport.

To be precise, it is located in Virginia, about a half-hour drive from the District of Columbia in Washington.

The cabin was filled with the sound of the broadcast, "Ladies and gentlemen, this flight has concluded, and the plane has landed at Dulles International Airport..."

"Thank God, we've finally arrived!" Val let out a sigh of relief, having been nearly driven mad by the four kids in front.

Many passengers began to collect their luggage, creating quite a mess.

The four troublesome kids in front had been going stir-crazy, clamoring to get off the plane, and the Caucasian woman and her husband could only try to calm them while managing the luggage.

Seeing them struggling with children and baggage, Linda's heart softened, "Hey, let me take that suitcase for you. I'll help you carry it off the plane."

"Thank you so much," the Caucasian woman said gratefully.

Everyone got off the plane and boarded a shuttle bus.

The Caucasian woman looked at Linda's group, "Are you visiting Washington for travel?"

"Yes, what about you?"

"We're off to Los Angeles for our honeymoon," the Caucasian woman said, clinging to her husband's arm.

"Honeymoon?" Linda looked at the four children and appeared confused.

The Caucasian woman explained, "Actually, we are a blended family. My husband and I each brought two children into this big family."

Linda looked surprised, "Wow... congratulations to you both."

The Caucasian woman, holding her husband's arm and with a face filled with sweetness, said, "Actually, my husband and I were each other's first loves; we couldn't end up together for some reason, married different people, had children, then got divorced. Destiny is a strange thing; we met again by chance and decided to be together."

Linda was touched, "That's incredible, you must be very happy."

"Absolutely, our reunion was God's design," the Caucasian woman leaned on her husband's shoulder.

After disembarking from the shuttle, Linda waved goodbye to the family of six, muttering to herself, "You can tell they are really happy; destiny truly is wonderful."

Val rolled his eyes, "A bunch of noisy kids; it's gonna end in disaster."

Linda glared at her brother, "Val, can't you hope for the best?

Don't you think their love story is beautiful?

Two people who were each other's first love, separated for years, and now they have revived their romance to form a loving family—it's like a real-life fairy tale."

Val replied, "Anyway, I'm not optimistic about stepfamilies."

Linda looked to the others, seemingly seeking backers, "What do you think?"

Robert gave a non-committal shrug.

Luke, as was his habit, analyzed, "Although I don't know the exact time they broke up, judging by the age of their children, they must have been apart for at least ten years.

The chances of two people who separated ten years ago meeting again are not high, and the chances of meeting again post-divorce are even lower.

If I were to make a bold guess, it's possible they have been in contact or have always..."

Val's face showed a dramatic expression, "Wow, could the real reason for their divorces..."

Linda scolded him, "Shut up, don't apply your detective mindset to life. You should try to see the beauty in life."

Luke put his hands up in surrender, "I was just speculating, let's wish them well."
