Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 320 Capture_3

Jackson said, "The evidence from the voiceprint comparison comes from the alarm recording, and according to regulations, it will be accepted by the judge."

Little Black shook his head, "Regulations?

"Don't take all that theory as the absolute truth. I find you can be quite stubborn at times.

"You need to understand one thing, whether the judge ultimately accepts it or not.

"The decision is no longer in the hands of the police.

"Have you ever been to court?

"If you had, you wouldn't want to go a second time."

"Maybe you're right. I accept your point humbly," Jackson said, changing his tone as he looked at Luke, "Captain, what do we do next?

"How do we get the suspect to confess?"

Luke thought for a moment, "After Jamie Robinson leaves, we'll go in and make the arrest."

At eleven o'clock at night, the door to room 504 opened, and Jamie Robinson left the room.

However, Luke did not order to make the arrest right away.

Another hour passed before Luke decided to move in for the arrest.

Jenny, wearing a nightgown, knocked on the door. "Knock, knock…"

"Who is it?" a voice came from inside the door.

"I'm a new tenant. I just went out to take out the trash, and I realized that I forgot to bring my keys when I came back.

"Could I borrow your phone? I left a spare set at my parents' house."

"Creak…"

The door opened, and a young woman handed over her phone, "Here, use it."

"Thank you. What is your name?"

"Suri Madic."

"Click."

Jenny swiftly handcuffed her, "Suri Madic, you are under arrest."

The white woman was stunned for a moment, and by the time she reacted, Luke had already come over with his team.

Little Black showed the arrest warrant, "Suri Madic, you are under arrest."

"Why are you arresting me?"

"Someone reported you for making a false alarm call."

Suri Madic denied, "No, I didn't."

Luke presented the search warrant, "We need to search your apartment."

Suri Madic looked distressed, "You must be mistaken. I've never done anything like that."

"Miss Madic, it's no use to argue," Luke said as he and his team entered the messy apartment, which was as cluttered as Jamie Robinson's.

Luke ordered his team to search, while he took down Suri Madic's statement.

Luke got straight to the point, "Around ten o'clock yesterday morning, did you make an emergency call?"

Suri Madic shook her head, "I didn't."

Luke stared at her, noticing signs of lying.

"Miss Madic, if we've located you, it means we have sufficient evidence. It's in your best interest to confess now."

"Do you have any evidence?"

Luke played the false alarm recording on a recorder pen.

Suri Madic, hearing the voice, became visibly upset.

"Miss Madic, don't you think this voice sounds a lot like you?"

"It does sound a bit like me, but it's not me. Just because of this recording, you say I made the false call, isn't that a bit hasty?" Suri Madic took a deep breath.

"We have an eyewitness."

"Who?"

"I promised to keep his identity confidential."

Suri Madic, head bowed, picking at her fingernails, repeated, "You've got the wrong person."

Luke pressed on, "What grudge do you have against Jamie Robinson? Why frame him?"

"What did Jamie Robinson tell you?"

"He's said all that needs to be said."

Suri Madic showed a flash of anger, "So that bastard betrayed me, after just saying he liked me, that he wouldn't betray me.

"The next moment he sells me out.

"Why?"

Luke replied noncommittally, "You should ask him that."

Suri Madic, with a scornful sneer, said, "No need to ask, I know. That jerk wanted to sleep with me, but I rejected him.

"So he got mad and sought revenge on me like this!

"I despise him, always have, always will."

Luke seized the opportunity to ask, "So because you despise him, you made the false call to mock him?"

"No, I... it wasn't intentional."

"What do you mean it wasn't intentional? The emergency call recording proves it was deliberate," Luke argued.

"It's not like you think, I didn't mean to hurt him."

"Then why make the false alarm call? Do you find it amusing?"

"It's not that I wanted to. I... had no choice but to do it."

"Who forced you?"

"No one forced me."

"Then why did you do it? Don't you see the contradiction in your words?"

"My friends and I were playing a game. We had a rule that the loser had to make an emergency call. I didn't expect to lose…

"So, I was just keeping my promise."

"Then why report Jamie Robinson's address?"

Suri Madic sighed, "I was so nervous when I called, my mind was a mess. When the operator asked for the address, I blurted one out mindlessly.

"I thought it was made up.

"After the call, I realized I had given Jamie Robinson's address.

"I don't know why that address came to mind, it just popped into my head."

"A game?"

"Yes, just a game."

"Okay, it seems that your arrest is not unwarranted."
