Los Angeles Legendary Sleuth

Chapter 454: Bad Guys (Part 2)

After about ten minutes, "Vroom vroom..."

Luke heard the sound of a motorcycle.

It was slightly different from a sidecar motorcycle, it should be the one he was looking for, and Luke couldn't help but raise his guard.

After a while, Luke indeed saw a small motorcycle driving over.

The motorcycle was driven by a black woman, wearing a baseball cap and a scarf, her appearance was unclear, a motorcycle like this was very suitable for adventure treasure hunting.

Luke wanted to go up and talk, but the black woman didn't stop; she just turned her head and glanced at Luke, then rode away on her motorcycle.

Watching the motorcycle go away, Luke's feelings were somewhat complex.

The other party had already explored ahead, was there any need for him to go?

However, the motorcycle didn't carry much. Luke guessed, the woman riding the motorcycle probably hadn't found the treasure.

Of course, the other party might not be here for treasure hunting, but simply for fun.

Luke finally decided to go ahead and have a look; just because the black woman didn't find it doesn't mean he couldn't, after all, he had an adventure card.

Luke continued along the east side of the canyon, not far along, he found a balance stone, about two meters high, with its widest part over a meter, wide at the top and narrow at the bottom, the connection resembling a football-sized arc surface.

Luke carefully compared with the map, and found the balance stone he discovered was somewhat different from the one on the map, and the surrounding terrain had some discrepancies as well.

He felt somewhat disappointed, but since he was there, he decided to explore the surroundings.

The exploration lasted for over half an hour, he still hadn't discovered any suspected treasure sites.

Luke could only return along the original path, to meet with Walker and Morris Dawan.

An hour later, they met at the fork in the road.

Luke asked, "Did you find anything?"

Walker shook his head, "Nothing, we rode the sidecar motorcycle westward, searched far and wide, there wasn't any place here completely matching the terrain.

I think this area can be excluded, we should search elsewhere."

Luke asked, "Did you see anyone else?"

Morris Dawan said, "No, but we found tire tracks, the shape should be left by a small motorcycle."

Luke nodded, "That's right, I saw a black woman riding a small motorcycle, but she didn't stay, just left directly."

Walker said, "Guys, it seems we need to speed up, it seems we are not the only ones looking for the treasure."

The trio returned along the original route, driving the RV back to the South Bank Highlands.

The reason they returned to the South Bank Highlands, instead of staying in the valley, was because standing high up provides a better view, making it easier to observe the overall terrain and features from above.

Because there might be other Treasure Hunters, the pressure on Luke and his team increased significantly. They returned to the South Bank Highlands and did not rest, but continued driving forward, searching from high vantage points for the treasure site.

The trio walked and stopped, constantly observing along the way.

After proceeding for over an hour, Luke stopped the sidecar motorcycle, looked over the edge of the canyon, took out the map to compare, on the canyon's east side was a balance stone, and the west side had a few spruce trees planted, the overall topographical structure highly resembling the treasure map.

Walker also stopped the RV, and the three researched the treasure map together.

Morris Dawan and Walker also felt that this area was similar to the place depicted on the treasure map.

The three made this area their next search target.

At this time, darkness started to fall, making it impossible to continue exploring the canyon, they had to wait until morning to set out.

The three had a simple dinner, went to bed early, and planned to go treasure hunting in the canyon bottom together the next morning.

The next day, all three woke up very early.

They started breakfast at six o'clock.

By seven o'clock, they packed up their equipment, ready to set out.

Walker was still driving the RV, while Luke rode the sidecar motorcycle.

However, as Luke rode the sidecar motorcycle, he discovered something unusual; the motorcycle's fuel gauge was empty.

Last evening, he had just filled it with the spare fuel; logically the tank should have been full.

Suddenly he thought of something, "Is it that damn thief again?"

"Fuck! Which bastard messed with my baby?" Morris Dawan cursed angrily, hurriedly getting off to check if the sidecar motorcycle had other issues.

Walker also heard the commotion, "Guys, what happened?"

Luke said, "The sidecar motorcycle's fuel was stolen, check the RV's surveillance video."

He also asked Morris Dawan beside him, "Did you hear anything unusual last night?"

"No, it was quiet all night. Maybe because we're close to finding the treasure, I was too excited, woke up in the latter half and couldn't sleep, didn't hear anything."

Could the fuel have been stolen in the first half of the night?

"Have you had any fuel stolen in the canyon these days?"

"No, this is the first time, and my spare white fuel drum is missing too." Morris Dawan seemed to recall something, "I heard you say before a black guy's fuel tank was stolen too, could it be the same person?"

Luke shook his head, "I don't know either."

Walker got off the RV, shouted, "Unfortunately, the sidecar motorcycle was parked too far away, outside the RV's surveillance range. What should we do now?"
