Mage Manual

Chapter 550: Stealing from the Sect (Third Update)

Transcend Zone, the underground building base.

"Not just the present, but also the future."

As Igula contemplated the revelation that had formed in the foam on the mirror, he rinsed his mouth with a gurgle, wiped away the foam, and left the room with his waterproof shoulder bag.

Arriving at the bathhouse on the 51st floor, the Swindler saw two of his companions already soaking in the small bath and sat down to ask, "Where's Tamasi?"

"He's not a Mage; his routine is different from ours. How could he be up so early?" Ash removed the hot towel from his face and said, "Besides, he hasn't been infected by you, so he doesn't have that vile habit of getting up early for a bath. At most, he'll just take a shower in his room."

"It's astounding that the most luxurious hotel rooms here don't even come with a bathtub," Igula said lazily as he soaked, "But it's still better than the food factory town—there isn't even a large public bath there."

"It's already surprising enough that there's a hotel here," Ash commented, "An entire building with a complete social system."

"Normal," Harvey said as he ate his chocolate, "Civilians born out of the flesh of a dead body."

Among the three of them, Harvey was the one whose Life Force was depleting the fastest. In the battle a few days ago, half of his body had been burned away by a gas station explosion. Fortunately, he was in the 'Ice Cold Flowing Fire' state at the time, and he and Alice shared the damage. However, he also used half of his body to reconstruct Alice—Ash even suspected that nearly all the flesh and bone in Alice's body could soon be replaced with Harvey's own.

The price was Harvey looking as thin as a paper mannequin, and coupled with the ongoing curse of the Blood Seed, he had to consume food continuously over the past few days to slowly recover.

Speaking of Harvey's condition, it resembled an elementary school math problem—a swimming pool being filled and drained at the same time. When would it be full?

"We can only stay in this building for two more days at most," Igula said, "No amount of money can extend our time... If Silver Lamp doesn't make a move in two days, we'll have to flee to the nearest town and wait."

They couldn't afford to camp out in the wilderness—nobody wanted to find out if they could survive the strangle greens that came out at night.

"Speaking of which, I have a big plan," Ash said, motioning them to come closer and spoke in a hushed tone, "I think Silver Lamp wants to seize the Great Skill of the Transcend Sect."

Igula was taken aback for a moment, then quickly understood—of course, if it were just to flee, Silver Lamp could have left overnight without staying here at all.

She might need to replenish supplies, but having just done so in the food factory town, there was no need to do it so soon. And the most valuable thing in the hundred-floor building had to be the two Great Skills they worshipped!

"But she has several Great Skills of her own," Igula frowned and said, "Why would she—"

"In the battle three days ago," Harvey suddenly remarked, "She didn't use the power of Great Skills to attack us but directly blew up the gas station instead. She's stingy."

Why would she be miserly with the power of the Great Skills?

Igula had a flash of insight: "Without Believers to replenish her power, she loses a bit of her Great Skills with every use. So she needs to find a way to loot other Great Skills, otherwise, there's a chance she could run out while on the road! That's right, she does indeed have a reason to snatch the Transcendence Method. But when will she act?"

"During the prayer period between 7 and 9 in the evening," Ash said, "At other times the Great Skills are heavily guarded, and even if she could Disguise as someone else, she couldn't get close—but during the prayer period, Believers can approach the Great Skills, and that's her chance."

"So, we're going to attend the prayer, staying close by, waiting for Silver Lamp to take the bait?" Harvey asked.

Just as Igula was considering the details of the plan, he saw Ash shaking his head, "No, the prayer could assimilate us. We'd better stay outside. As soon as Silver Lamp snatches a Great Skill, I'll immediately Host the second Great Skill to stop her."

Huh?

The Swindler looked up at Ash curiously, wondering, "Why would you plan like this?"

Ash blinked his eyes, "Is there something wrong with this plan?"

The Swindler seriously pondered and realized that the plan was very reasonable. First, the Transcend Sect was at odds with them, so if they rashly said they wanted to attend the worship, the Transcend Sect might not agree; moreover, the worship assimilated everyone, and the risk of attending was too great.

However...

"Did you come up with this plan on your own?" Igula asked seriously, "This question is very important."

You could see through that!?

Ash was truly astonished, "This is guidance I received in my adventure in the Void Realm. Does it not seem like something I could come up with?"

Of course, it didn't seem like something you could come up with, the Swindler thought to himself.

Because there was a major issue with this plan—after Silver Lamp seized the first Transcendence Method, other believers would surely swarm to attack her. The cunning and nefarious Silver Lamp would naturally invoke the Host God, using the power of the Transcendence Method to confront or even eliminate the Transcend believers, causing them to have a mental breakdown in an instant.

At that moment, if Ash were to rush over and Host the second Transcendence Method, he would help the believers to repel or capture Silver Lamp, instantly gaining immense prestige within the Transcend Sect—if Ash, who could perfectly host the power, didn't try to monopolize the Great Skill, the believers would see him as the spokesperson for the Great Skill, the Savior of Fate!

The focus of this plan was not to capture Silver Lamp but to usurp the Transcend Sect!

And this perfectly solved the worries that Igula had been brooding over for the past few nights.

Capturing Silver Lamp was just the first phase.

The second phase was dealing with the Four Pillars God Sect.

The third phase was finding a way to locate the Space Gate leading out of the Kingdom of Senluo—given the technology of the Gray Fox Era, there should exist fantastical creations capable of traversing different kingdoms.

But, regardless of the second or third phase, relying on just the three of them with Holy Domain combat power was too much of a stretch. The Four Pillars God Sect not only possessed more Holy Domains, but the Mercury Wooden Horse surely held other Gray Fox legacies. If another "Dragon Blood Cultivation System" was to emerge, Igula and his companions would stand no chance in battle.

As for collecting the Gray Fox legacies, that was even more troublesome. Most of the legacies were now in the hands of various sects, and firstly, they needed to determine which sect held spatial artifacts like the Space Gate, and secondly, they had to figure out how to take control of them—by stealing, robbing, or deceiving.

However, if they were not mere wandering soldiers but spokespersons of a great force, the difficulty of all this would drastically reduce.

A great force meant having the authority to trade with other forces—in the Senluo Wasteland, these wandering Holy Domains would never be willing to trade with heretics unless they could exterminate the other sects.

A great force meant acquiring a wealth of intelligence, even to the extent of maneuvering other sects to gang up on the Four Pillars God Sect!

Furthermore, if they could control a certain force, they would not only be able to pursue Silver Lamp more efficiently but also receive more high-energy food resources, directly offsetting the impact of the Blood Seed's curse!

Not just now, but in the future as well.

Supply their desires, provide their needs.

If they wanted to seize the power of a sect under the identity of a Savior, they had to let the disaster strike the sects' death knell first.

"Do you think this plan needs further optimization?" Ash asked, looking at the pondering Igula.

"No," Igula said very confidently, "we'll proceed according to this plan."
