Chapter 561 Air Combat

"Above the High Sky: Souls bound by gravity can only snatch back their freedom from the skies. As long as you touch any point of leverage stemming from the ground, it will cause your Magic Power to stagnate and become unable to be activated, lasting for 3 seconds; when you do not make contact with any point of leverage, all of your Technique Spirit's effects will be enhanced by an additional 100%, lasting for 3 seconds."

"Word suffix identification reward: A small amount of Space Faction experience, a small amount of Magic Power."

"Limited word suffix privilege: In the next Dream Bubble Shadow, you will trigger the positive effect of Above the High Sky."

In the five minutes before entering this Dream Bubble Shadow, Ash and his team had directly figured out this word suffix, after all, as soon as they entered, their Technique Spirits drooped listlessly as if they couldn't breathe.

But when they triggered the actual battle, they discovered that the situation was completely different from what they had imagined!

Whoosh!

Ash activated the Miracle 'Heart Pen', and his Heart Sword danced mightily, laying down crisscrossing ink traces in the air.

However, the Long Spear Sanctuary fluttered its golden and silver wings, soaring swiftly beyond Ash's ink trace defenses. Even though Ash immediately dodged to intercept, the Long Spear Sanctuary cleverly performed an aerial backflip, the spear tip drawing a crescent trajectory, striking like a Comet on Ash's Holy Domain!

Boom!

With every Technique Spirit effect strengthened by 100%, the effects of Miracles were at least tripled! Ash's Magic Power to maintain his Holy Domain drained rapidly, having plummeted to the critical level of 30%!

On the contrary, the Long Spear Sanctuary was hardly affected by Ash, whether it was Heart Sword, Heart Pen, or Fury Sword. Relying on its flying capability, it evaded all of Ash's attacks, and even up close in melee, Ash couldn't touch its Holy Domain!

Ash urgently needed support, but the others were also in no better condition:

The Sword Maiden was facing off against a car dragon with blade wings, the latter's skin covered in a layer of Holy Domain-like fuzz that became stiffer the faster it moved, with its various Resistances rapidly increasing. If the Sword Maiden didn't strike at weak spots, her explosive damage was equivalent to a mere back scratch;

The Witch was entangled with a Swordsmanship Holy Domain, her watery strands being directly cut off, struggling considerably to hold her own;

Weiser, on the other hand, was the only one who hadn't taken a hit, but if she were to be even slightly distracted, she would immediately be ambushed by creatures from the Void Realm.

Actually, given the enemy's current configuration, it should have been the Sword Maiden against the Swordsmanship Holy Domain, the Witch constraining the car dragon, and Ash and Weiser dealing with the Long Spear Sanctuary, waiting for the Sword Witch to handle the enemies before coming back to assist.

But because the word suffix "Above the High Sky" restricted the battlefield to the air, it made all their tactics unexecutable—or rather, they intended to implement tactics, but the Void Realm creatures simply destroyed their strategic arrangement with their maneuverability alone.

Ash and his team were simply too weak in Air Combat.

Quick turns, loops, barrel rolls, spin maneuvers, climb maneuvers, half rolls to reverse direction, Cobra maneuvers... For Ash and others who could only fly forward and hadn't even gotten used to reversing their perspective, the flying techniques of the Void Realm creatures had reached a level that made them feel dizzy just by watching. To say nothing else, everyone had two wings, but the flying speed of the creatures from the Holy Domain of the Void Realm was undoubtedly faster than theirs—they truly understood the principles of fluid dynamics.

Ash and his team had originally felt confident after figuring out the first word suffix. It was just Air Combat, right? Just the battlefield turning from two-dimensional into three-dimensional, how hard could it be?

Very hard, indeed.

Even the Sword Maiden, who had done her preliminary studies, found the difficulty much higher than she had thought.

To put it bluntly, she thought this word suffix merely meant 'enemies that were good at air combat would become stronger', but the result was 'anyone who cannot master air combat would become worthless', directly culled by the temporary version!

Ash felt like they weren't fighting enemies of the same level at all, but rather, simple computers being thrown into a ranking battle with Diamond-tier players. There wasn't much difference between the two sides in other aspects; if it were a ground battle, Ash and his team would definitely be able to defeat the enemy. However, the shortcoming in Air Combat caused them to be utterly pummeled.

They did want to arrange their opponents based on Magic counteractions, but now it wasn't them choosing their paths; instead, the Void Realm creatures picked the matchups, their maneuverability not allowing any change of route.

The only exception was Weiser, whose Air Combat ability wasn't weak. The creatures from the Void Realm initially tried to take down the weakest, Weiser, but when they found they couldn't defeat her quickly, they turned to attack others.

Yet, Weiser was not adept at fighting; she was at best capable of occasionally supporting her teammates.

"We can't keep going like this!" Ash swiftly dashed to shake off the Long Spear Sanctuary, "Our Magic Power will eventually be exhausted! Can you guys take down your opponents!?"

"Uh..." Diya dodged the Swordsmanship Holy Domain's pursuit in frustration, her threads barely managing to restrain the enemy, "Just give me a little more time, if I could just trigger the aging effect a few more times, he's dead!"

Diya was equipped with the "Golden Collection: Flowing Gold River Water," whose effect was: "Your attacks will continuously infuse the target with Flowing Gold River Water. During the duration, the target's Magic Power consumption is doubled, with a 5% chance to trigger the aging effect, causing the target a loss of 20% of their current Magic Power and reducing their reaction speed by 20%."

This collection's requirement was to remain active; Ash and Sonia, whose attacks revolved primarily around bursts, naturally couldn't utilize it. Diya's threads had a control and entanglement effect, making this collection a perfect fit for her.

In fact, this was indeed the case. In the previous Dream Bubble Shadows, as long as Diya could attach her threads to the enemy, they would soon trigger the aging effect and then lose their combat capabilities.

Due to the powerful boost of the golden collection, there was no doubt that Diya had become the main output of this exploration of the Void Realm, but in Air Combat, she also had no say in choosing her opponent. Forced to confront a Swordsmanship Holy Domain that countered her, her threads barely lasted, having only triggered the aging effect once up to now, and she remained suppressed by the Swordsmanship Holy Domain.
