Ash suddenly realized why Igula was so vigilant towards Tamasi.
It wasn't just a wariness towards strangers.
"Alright," Ash said with a smile, "if I truly turn into a bad touch, then you three will have to stop me together."
"Can I join you?" Harvey asked.
Boom!
The disturbance in the city not only failed to subside over time but actually grew fiercer. The trembling gradually spread, even causing the ground where Ash and the others stood to begin shaking!
Crack!
A shocking crack appeared on the distant, thick city wall, rapidly expanding and spreading like countless insects. Seeing this, the members of the Natural Sect couldn't stay put either. Nori spread his golden and silver wings and soared, a roaring blaze igniting on his body, and in a blink, he transformed into an Undying Flame Bird, letting out a clear and melodious call!
The Natural Sect was best at imitating miracles and morphing into mythical creatures!
At the same time, different cries echoed from several other Natural Sect camps. All believers donned their armor and grabbed their firearms, ready to rush into Hell!
Before Ash and the others could agree on what to do, they saw the cracks on the wall come to a halt, spreading across the ground like a deadly poison.
And the vibration of the earth had reached a level where standing still was impossible. Ash and his group watched as tiny cracks formed at their feet and saw the sand being swiftly sucked into them.
In the blink of an eye, Ash immediately grabbed Tamasi with a backhand grip!
Boom!
With a thunderous roar like the collapse of mountains and the splitting of the earth, the ground shattered like a mirror.
Cities, camps, and even the ground further away... everything seemed built upon a sheet of fragile glass, and now that the glass was breaking, everything was falling through.
Countless Two-winged figures lifted off, the flying Mages avoiding being swallowed by the earth. Their gaze passed over chunks of earth to perceive the vast underground space, where lay a city that surpassed its era.
Skyscrapers, rivers of vehicles, lights like stars, reflecting the Star River.
Not the remnants of a past ruin, not a post-apocalyptic town, but a complete, aesthetically designed city that's still operating normally— a city from the Divine Era.
The people underground lifted their heads to watch the ceiling cave in. Neither the soil, the stones, nor the falling city harmed them, as there were multiple thin membranes above the city, undoubtedly connected to the earth. Even debris carrying the weight of the city could disperse pressure.
Not just the members of the Natural Sect, even Ash and his company were somewhat stupefied.
Indeed, everything needs a contrast—if they had seen this city back in the Kingdom of Gospel, Ash and his group might have just nodded their heads, not finding it too impressive. But after experiencing the bath center camp, the mental hospital camp, food factory town, and various other ruin camps, suddenly witnessing a proper city left them anything but impassive.
No one expected that the fortified city atop was merely a decoy, and the true Nightfall was actually the Underground City.
Not just a single building like the Transcend Sect, but a complete city!
At that moment, Ash and his group saw a glimmer of light amongst the falling city debris.
It was a light they were all too familiar with.
The light grew fiercer, eventually turning almost milky white, as if to turn night into day. But this fire did not represent light; it symbolized tribulation.
Snap.
When the tribulation fire fell, the "membrane" that protected Nightfall shattered like bubbles. The city's debris, mud, and rocks, along with the hundred thousand troops of the Nature Army, dropped into the city like an unfettered disaster.
Boom!
Skyscrapers toppled, kicking up miles of dust.
Stones rained down like hail, scarring the face of Nightfall!
During his time in the Kingdom of Gospel, Ash had imagined the spectacle of the second layer of the city collapsing. He never thought he would witness it in the Kingdom of Senluo.
The Undying Flame Bird, the Golden Lion Ape, the Frost Cold Peacock, and the Hosted God of the Natural Sect, four high-ranking combatants, led the Two-winged Mages into Nightfall.
The frenetic roar was like a wild wind sweeping through the Senluo night.
"Born from nature, grown in nature, perishing in nature, transcending nature!"
"Perfect twins, the Spiral of Fate. The path to salvation lies within."
There were no threats or provocations, the war of belief was so pure it could not accommodate any compromises. Nightfall was vast, but not big enough for two sects; it became an arena with no way out.
The Twin Sect would not flee, as Nightfall lay behind them; neither would the Natural Sect, for if they could not bring back these hundred thousand troops, then the Natural Sect might as well disband.
In other words, when the ground collapsed, only one sect could climb out of this deep pit.
Ash and his companions almost instinctively wanted to flee from this place. Despite all they had been through, at the end of the day, they were just ordinary Mages who had not experienced war, the greenhouse plants of a peaceful era. Not to mention Igula, even Harvey had little interest in this scene—he just enjoyed the aftermath of war, strewn with corpses, not the war itself.
However, they could not escape.
As the ground caved in, the night encroached silently and now pressed on the edge of the pit. The moment Ash and the others flew out, it meant they would face the trial of the Green Entanglement.
Nevertheless, Ash was willing to flee from the war, even if it meant exhausting the energy of redemption tickets.
Yet, there was another point—they were here to find the Reconstruction Elixir.
"This is our chance," Igula said. "To resist the Natural Sect, the Twin Sect's defense over critical resources would inevitably be weak. If there truly is a Reconstruction Elixir, it must be within this city."
"But they won't think we're just passing by for a late-night snack," Ash said.
"No matter, we have the Holy Domain, there's no need to fight them head-on."
"It's me and Ash," Harvey reminded. "You haven't mastered the Holy Domain."
In the days before, as their spirits recovered, Harvey and Igula underwent the Harmony Prohibition of Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon for the second time. Harvey succeeded in his construction, while Igula was still struggling. Apart from talent, their personalities also greatly influenced their progress with the Holy Domain: Harvey enjoyed stepping into death within the Harmony Prohibition of Wind, Flower, Snow, Moon, whereas Igula, well... he was a little afraid of pain.
"I'll just hide within your Holy Domain," Igula said. "Someone has to take a risk."
The three of them looked at Ash, and Ash nodded, "Okay, but how do we find the elixir?"
"Hospitals, Treasure Vaults are most likely, maybe even near the Great Skill," Igula pondered. "We can't search blindly, we need to find a key person to guide us..."
"The Silver Lamp guide has appeared," Tamasi, climbing onto Ash's back, suddenly pointed into the distance.
Following Black Crow's indication, they saw the Silver Lamp enveloped in white flames speeding away in the distance, with two purplish-blue shadows trailing behind—clearly the Hosted Gods of the Twin Sect!
"The chance to attain the Reconstruction Elixir, and a Silver Lamp marked for death," Ash said with a mix of laughter and lament. "All the good fortune piled up together?"
