Chapter 684: Inheritance of Enchantment

Void Realm, Time Continent, Eternal City.

The layout of the Eternal City is incredibly peculiar. If one could observe it from outside, they would find that any side view of the Eternal City forms a triangle: the outermost city walls are the shortest, and the further you go towards the inner area, the taller the buildings get. The Time Tower in the core area is the tallest structure in the entire city.

Moreover, the buildings do not stand independently; all tall buildings are connected by bridges in all directions, making the entire Eternal City a three-dimensional maze.

What gives mages the biggest headache is that the city's roads—including bridges, walls, and even the ground—are constantly changing. Every hour, the Eternal City is different!

This is also why, after a month, not only has no one been able to seize the Time Heritage, but there hasn't even been a complete guide compiled. The garden-like structure of the Eternal City makes its scale of exploration far larger than imagined.

Not to mention that encountering other mages in the Eternal City is commonplace. Battles, team-ups, alliances, betrayals... Every moment, this city is alive with the dramas of passion and ugliness.

The Eternal City's operation thrives on the endless power supply from the Flowing Gold River. Its tributaries spread throughout the city like veins, with the wastage turning into a golden mist that spreads into every corner. Every adventurer breathes in this mist upon entering the city. The mist settles in their souls, weighing down on the hearts of mages, making the kind suspicious, the suspicious ruthless, the ruthless greedy, and the greedy insane.

But due to the massive allure of the inheritance, mages willingly enter knowing the Eternal City is a bloody millstone.

Interestingly, the Eternal City does not ban Technique Spirits, and the Two-winged Mages are at a stage where their Technique Spirit system is just taking shape, yet without Holy Domain defenses, putting them in a high-offense, low-defense power level. The Eternal City needs only to provide the right stage, and they'll naturally respond to the King of Time's gaze with a dance of death.

Elegance, brutality, treachery, indifference.

The phantom of the King of Time stands atop the tower, admiring this frenzied, ugly drama performed by the mages.

The Time Manual does not mention whether the King of Time is proficient in the Prophetic Faction and Spirit Faction, but the hair-raising legacy designs are enough to prove this demigod's insight and disdain for human nature.

At this moment, he turns his gaze to a nearby aerial platform.

"Watch out, it's coming!"

A massive alchemy golem stands majestically on the platform. Facing the attacks of three female mages, it suddenly stops its assault, slamming both arms into the grooves on the ground!

Underneath the grooves are pipelines connected to the tributaries of the Flowing Gold River—it is absorbing the river's water to recharge!

Sparkling! Countless golden runes suddenly surge on the platform; at the same time, Hanna, Siflin, and Freyja notice a line appearing on their bodies, each connecting to a phantom that looks exactly like them!

They sighed in relief—the last time they challenged the alchemy golem, they were utterly defeated because they couldn't see their phantoms. If they hadn't escaped in time, they might have been killed. Through exploration and research, they found out that to get past the alchemy golem, they must first acquire the crucial inheritance "Future Eye" to crack this Wonder!

Freyja saw a massive golden sword pierce through the phantom she was moving!

Siflin saw her phantom suddenly stop and become shredded by still gears!

Hanna saw that her phantom was unscathed, but the surrounding space suddenly collapsed!

This is the Wonder, the Destined Death!

Having confirmed their futures, Hanna immediately ran to the farthest edge of the platform, while Siflin and Freyja ran to the edge opposite Hanna. Meiwa and the little bat remained two positions apart; Meiwa stood dazed, but the little bat kept moving restlessly.

Three seconds later, the Destined Death arrived, and a large area centered on Hanna collapsed in space. A mage without Holy Domain would be doomed, but Meiwa and the little bat, standing at the farthest point, narrowly escaped the collapsing space.

A golden sword pierced through Freyja, but since she didn't move, the golden sword caused no harm;

Numerous static gears appeared around Siflin, but because she kept moving, the gears didn't harm her.

If it were a genuine Destined Death, there wouldn't be a solution. But this is just an alchemy golem. It was already impressive for it to wield such a Wonder, and the King of Time ultimately intended to leave behind inheritance, not set a death trap.

The Destined Death is the most challenging mechanism; the subsequent triple-floor flame was easily overcome by the three. With the shattering burst of a gear, the alchemy golem collapsed, and the aerial path leading to the tower was unsealed.

The female mages gasped for breath, staring blankly at the fallen alchemy golem.

After a long moment, Siflin plopped down on the ground with a long sigh: "We made it through!"

Meiwa excitedly jumped up to hug the nearby Purple Moth, and the Purple Moth happily spun around hugging Meiwa. However, Freyja soon broke free from Hanna's embrace, crossed her arms, and huffed, turning her face away from Hanna.

Hanna and Siflin exchanged a glance and shrugged with a wry smile.

"Is there a reward?"

"No, we just unlocked the path to the Tower."

"The Time Heritage is so stingy, beating an elite enemy and getting nothing..."
