Blood Holy Scripture: True Ancestor Charlotte de Castel

Chapter 81: The Emptied Ruins

Even though it is close to the Church Authority Country, there are still bloodlines living in the Moon God Coast City States, something Charlotte knew when she was still in the Bold Duchy.

Not only that, she also knew that the same bloodlines active in the Moon God Coast City States belong to the Shedite Clan following the Dark Path.

In other words, they are probably members of the Blood Demon Church.

However, the presence of Blood Demon Church members at this kind of welcoming banquet is quite intriguing.

This is not the New Moon Kingdom; this is the Yonette Peninsula, the place where the Holy Royal Court's power is strongest across the entire Mireya Continent.

Not to mention other things, just in this banquet hall alone Charlotte sensed no less than six areas of solidified Holy Blessing. The moment Sebastian followed her into the hall, he visibly became uncomfortable.

Evidently, even as a member of the Blood Favored, Sebastian received considerable suppression; Charlotte could even feel a trace of painful emotion from their contract link.

Thanks to these solidified blessings, the banquet hall's Holy Power was quite abundant. Only Charlotte, as the Blood Ancestor possessing the Blood Holy Scripture, would be immune to it.

In this kind of situation, even Sebastian, who isn't of the Bloodline, couldn't endure it, let alone ordinary bloodlines.

Yet, in such an environment, Charlotte unexpectedly sensed the aura of bloodlines, which naturally piqued her curiosity.

With this thought, she focused her mind and used bloodline sensing to investigate, quickly pinpointing the target.

The number was small, only three.

Their strength was approximately at the Silver Moon level, and they likely carried items that could suppress Holy Power.

Their positions were quite strategic, with the three located at nearly equal distances from her in different directions within the hall.

Moreover... their gazes occasionally swept over her.

"Oh."

"So they were coming for her."

Charlotte raised an eyebrow slightly, feigning ignorance, and continued conversing and laughing with the Chief Governor of the Moon God Coast City States.

Meanwhile, a certain housekeeper considering whether to ask his master for permission to leave the banquet hall for a breath of fresh air suddenly heard that dignified and melodious voice in his heart:

"Sebastian, three Blood Demon Church flies have gathered; take care of them."

Sebastian paused for a moment.

He couldn't help but glance at the "Saintess," who was chatting gleefully with Calabreta, a flicker of thought crossing his expression. He then nodded imperceptibly and retreated quietly.

Charlotte continued mingling with the city-state nobles seeking her favor.

The banquet lasted about three hours.

Since she was just passing through, Charlotte did not engage deeply with Chief Governor Catherine of the Moon God Coast City States, merely making acquaintances and vaguely indicating future cooperation intentions.

The Moon God Coast City States is originally a country with thriving commerce, controlling the routes leading to the East and having many fields for potential cooperation with the Falling Star Kingdom, which exports magic-guided items.

Of course, Charlotte merely expressed willingness, and she didn't need to worry about more detailed matters as the accompanying envoy group would naturally handle them.

With the Great Country Queen visiting, security in the Moon God Coast City States was quite thorough. Although Charlotte sensed several flies spying on her, nothing unpleasant occurred during the banquet.

After the banquet, Charlotte was guided by attendants to lodge in a manor specially prepared for hosting foreign nobility in the Moon God Coast City States.

Night deepened.

The bustling Catalia descended into tranquility.

Charlotte, having changed from a ceremonial gown into regular attire, came to her bedroom's balcony, downed the crimson Transcendent Blood in her glass, and relaxed her senses.

Hmm, numerous protective arrays had been activated, along with Transcendent Knights patroling outside the manor.

However, the knights only patrolled the outer perimeter, never entering the manor.

In other words, there was no surveillance.

This was expected, as this wasn't an enemy nation of the Falling Star Kingdom, and the two countries had no conflicting interests.

Charlotte's curiosity, however, lay in the Shedite bloodlines she sensed at the banquet.

A gentle evening breeze blew, carrying the salty humidity characteristic of the sea.

Perhaps due to being in the south, the sea breeze here was far warmer than in Falling Star and Castel.

As the clouds dispersed, a radiant full moon cast silver light, leaving colorful spots on the ornate windowsill.

A hoarse cat's meow sounded, followed by the thud of something heavy landing, resonating with a dull sound beside Charlotte.

Charlotte didn't turn around but put down the glass in her hand and said:

"Do you enjoy approaching through the windowsill that much?"

"Ahem, meow, it's become a habit accidentally, Lord Charlotte, I'll change next time."

It was Black Cat Nisi.

Charlotte glanced at it, then continued:

"Have you found it?"

Nisi nodded:

"Yes, I've found it. It matches the model I simulated; it's located in some abandoned ruins seventeen kilometers northeast of Catalia City."

"And Albrecht, why hasn't he returned with you?"

Charlotte inquired.

"He... he's still investigating in the Ancient Hall."

That being said, Charlotte chose Catalia City as the initial point on the Yonette Peninsula, not solely because it is the capital of the Moon God Coast City States.

In Nisi's model, the Ancient Hall of the Moon God Coast City States is situated near Catalia City.

After Charlotte landed, she dispatched Nisi and Albrecht for investigation, and even granted Nisi a trace of Blood Divine Power for sensing nearby.

"You didn't call on me directly, opting for one return, one to continue investigating; is there a problem over there?"

Charlotte continued to ask.

Nisi let out a sigh:

"You're... correct. We've indeed found the ruins, but... they've been cleared out."

"Cleared out?"

Charlotte felt a twinge in her heart:

"I remember you saying that the Ancient Hall in the Moon God Coast City States hadn't been discovered yet."

Nisi sighed:

"In theory, yes, but now it seems... someone beat us to it, and judging from the traces of the broken prohibition, it seems it happened not long ago."

"Albrecht found the unique markings of the Shedite Clan and the lingering holy aura of the Holy Royal Court near the ruins, so... he suspects that the Shedite Clan's bloodline found and excavated the ruins in advance, but the Holy Royal Court intercepted it."

"The Shedite Clan and the Holy Royal Court, huh..."

Charlotte recalled the three bloodlines that had spied on her at the banquet, unsure if Sebastian had captured them yet.

After a moment of thought, Charlotte nodded:

"Let's go, take me to see."

"Ah, um... you want to go yourself? Shouldn't I disguise myself as you?"

Nisi asked.

Charlotte shook her head:

"No need, the Moon God Coast City States are very orderly."

...

With Nisi as the guide and Albrecht as the coordinate, Charlotte quickly reached the site of the ruins they discovered.

Countless fluttering bats gathered at the broken gate, quickly forming into the shape of Charlotte.

"Your Majesty, the True Ancestor!"

Having received the news and waiting at the door, Albrecht greeted with respect.

Charlotte nodded slightly, asking:

"How is it?"

Albrecht shook his head:

"It's been completely cleared out; the Faceless Divine Statue you were looking for has probably been taken away."

Charlotte furrowed her brow slightly.

She had specifically chosen this route aiming for the Faceless Divine Statue. Although she had already made a judgment after hearing Nisi's report, she still held a sliver of hope.

"Did you find anything else?"

Charlotte asked.

Albrecht hesitated for a moment, his expression inscrutable:

"It should be the Shedite Clan settled in the Moon God Coast City States who first discovered the ruins. They... might have reached some sort of agreement with the Holy Royal Court."

"Oh? How so?"

"Although there are traces of remaining Holy Power in the ruins, there are no signs of battle. The time the Holy Power lingered and the time the Shedite marks remained are not much different, indicating that they existed simultaneously. Clearly... they were not hostile to each other."

"No news from the Blood Demon Church?"

Charlotte asked with a frown.

Albrecht sighed:

"Your Majesty, the True Ancestor, this... should have nothing to do with the church."

"Oh? Nothing to do with the church? Didn't you discover the Shedite marks? And I remember, wasn't the Moon God Coast City States one of the strongholds of the Blood Demon Church in the past?"

Charlotte raised an eyebrow.

Albrecht explained:

"You did say 'in the past'. That was hundreds of years ago. Over a hundred years ago, the bloodlines in the Moon God Coast City States had already severed ties with the church. They... are just bloodlines with dark blood now."

Charlotte felt a twinge in her heart:

"Oh? Are you trying to say that the bloodlines of the Moon God Coast City States... might have joined the Holy Royal Court?"

Albrecht nodded:

"Though it sounds unbelievable, within the church... there is indeed such a rumor."

Charlotte fell into thought.

She retrieved a memory from Albrecht that she had read deep inside her consciousness, "searched" it, and found that there really was such a thing.

This truly took her by surprise.

You know, the Holy Royal Court and the bloodlines are supposed to be mortal enemies.

Join? Impossible, at least in the eyes of any holy believer.

But, nothing is absolutely impossible.

During her last First Embrace, Charlotte had turned Haral from another time and space into a bloodline. In a sense, perhaps the Holy Royal Court was an extension of the bloodline clans...

"Your Majesty, the True Ancestor, do we still need to continue exploring? Or... should we track the recent movements of the Holy Royal Court?"

Albrecht asked.

Charlotte fell into thought.

The three bloodlines she sensed at the banquet surfaced in her mind, and after pondering for a moment, she said:

"Let's go back first, wait a bit, maybe... Sebastian could bring us some information."

It was as if responding to Charlotte's command.

As soon as she finished speaking, she heard a prayer from Sebastian.

The three Shedite bloodlines that spied on her were captured.
