Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 996: The Threat of Illusion Sect

The Demon Lord said, "It's 'no matter how hard, I will find it' not 'no matter how hard, I will not give up'," a phrase that thoroughly expressed all of his heartfelt feelings.

Meanwhile, Die was already standing by the side, her eyes vacant as though she had completely spaced out.

The Demon Lord, unable to wait any longer, exclaimed, "What are all these medicinal herbs? Tell me their names and what they look like!"

Chu Mo nodded and then said, "The Immortal Realm... probably doesn't have them. I will contact Lingdan Hall and have them notify me immediately if they encounter any of these four herbs!"

Afterward, Chu Mo wrote down and sketched the names and appearances of golden ginseng, gentiana, Mystic Purple Gromwell, and the bittersweet flower. Although Chu Mo's painting skills were not very good, he managed to depict these herbs. He also wrote down their preferred growing environments together and handed it all to the Demon Lord.

"What are their grades?" the Demon Lord asked as he looked at the growing environments of these herbs, frowning slightly. Especially the growing environment of the bittersweet flower — the boundary between gods and demons — puzzled the Demon Lord.

Chu Mo looked up at the Demon Lord, "Speaking of which, Master, how did you obtain the Quasi-Saint medicine used for reconstructing Mistress's body? As far as I know, even supreme medicine... is full of spiritual essence. Such herbs, even without any combat power, should be able to suppress all beings of lower realms with just their aura."

The Demon Lord glanced at Chu Mo, "The spirit within that Quasi-Saint herb... has already vanished! Most likely, it had departed long ago. Thus, what I obtained was only a shell of a Quasi-Saint herb, but it was enough to reconstruct your Mistress's body!"

"I see." Chu Mo suddenly realized, then said, "But these herbs are not ordinary, Master. Once you find any leads, you must contact me. Doesn't Mistress have a letter board? Please, do not act on your own."

The Demon Lord glared at Chu Mo, "I know."

The Master found him long-winded, but Chu Mo did not mind and continued, "Golden ginseng is a Quasi-Saint herb, so is gentiana; Mystic Purple Gromwell is a supreme herb, and as for the bittersweet flower... it has no grade, but its growing environment is very peculiar."

Hearing the grades of these herbs, the Demon Lord couldn't help but take a sharp breath, his face displaying a bitter smile. He then understood why Chu Mo had advised him not to act independently.

A spirited Quasi-Saint herb could not be retrieved by anyone, not even by an emperor himself going there! A supreme might have a chance to influence a Quasi-Saint herb, but that was just a possibility. A truly temperamental supreme herb might even refuse recruitment by a supreme!

This might sound incredible — how could a mere herb be so powerful? But thinking about those powerful non-human spirits clarified this. For example, as the Realm Spirit once said, the Kunpeng Clan that had once had three supremes, and one of them even successfully established a Five Elements foundation!

The strength of such beings was utterly unimaginable for most human cultivators.

Kunpeng is considered an animal; and similarly, among plants... there are also powerful and terrifying ones, truly the darlings of Heaven and Earth!

Like supreme herbs, as well as Quasi-Saint herbs and holy herbs!

They too have spirits!

They may not be good at fighting, but they are certainly not weak!

It's not excluded that for some reason, they might choose to follow humans weaker than themselves, as they also require protection.

The prodigies among plants are completely different from those among animals, like the Kunpeng and members of the Tiger Clan, who all possess considerable combat strength. But plant spirits, by nature, are rarely good fighters.

Yet they... are the ultimate treasures coveted by all human and non-human beings! Therefore, for supreme herbs to choose to follow a supreme, benefiting each other... is very likely.

But to force them, or to kill them outright, would probably require a saint to personally intervene. Under this Heaven and Earth, there are no saints. At least not currently... there aren't.

So Chu Mo felt puzzled and even a bit hopeless — how easy could it be to obtain these herbs, and it wasn't just one kind!

The Demon Lord also quickly understood this point. He turned his head, looking at Die, who had returned to her senses from her daze, and softly said, "Whether I have to ascend to the heavens or descend into the earth, I must find them!"

Although Die's realm wasn't that high and her experience was not vast, from Chu Mo's words, she had already sensed how difficult it was to obtain these medicinal ingredients. Hence, she just smiled slightly, "As long as there's a chance, that's good, at least... I can have something to aspire to. But I don't want either of you to get involved because of this. I don't want to live a life of constant fear and anxiety again."

Her words were calm, but both Chu Mo and the Demon Lord understood Die's meaning clearly. They knew that by saying this, she was essentially giving up, but did not want to hurt their pride, which was why she phrased it that way. Yet the two men were clearly not going to give up!

Chu Mo nodded, "Don't worry, Master's wife, both Master and I will act within our limits. Right, Master?" Chu Mo winked at the Demon Lord.

The Demon Lord also nodded, "Yes!"

At that moment, Chu Mo's communication tablet suddenly made a notifying sound. Chu Mo picked it up and glanced at it, a flash of cold light flickering through his eyes.

"What's wrong?" Die asked, looking at Chu Mo.

"It's nothing, Master. I'm afraid I have to leave for a while. In a few days, I'll come back to visit you and Master's wife," said Chu Mo.

The Demon Lord frowned, looking at Chu Mo but said nothing. Die was about to say something but was silenced by a glare from the Demon Lord.

Feeling his master's displeased gaze, Chu Mo scratched his head and said, "My friend's Piaomiao Palace in the Immortal Realm was smashed by someone."

"Oh?" The Demon Lord raised his eyebrow, his voice then turning cold, "Smashed? Like, sabotaging?"

Chu Mo gave a bitter smile and nodded, "Yes."

"Who did it?" the Demon Lord asked.

"The Illusion Sect," Chu Mo said with some bitterness.

Die exclaimed in shock from the side, "The Illusion Sect? Why would they do such a thing?"

"It seems... they took a liking to Qin Shi and Dong Yu, wanting to take them as disciples. They were refused. Following that, those people directly sent someone to smash my people's established Piaomiao Palace and left a threat..." Chu Mo said.

"How did they threaten?" the Demon Lord asked coldly.

Chu Mo hesitated.

"Give it to me to see," the Demon Lord glared at Chu Mo, taking the tablet from his hands. Die gave Chu Mo a comforting glance, and then leaned in as well. However, both of their expressions changed instantly.

The messages on the tablet, sent by Dong Yu, were filled with intense anger.

"Xiao Wanjun and Li Fangzhong chose a location for Piaomiao Palace thirty million miles away from the Illusion Sect. That place has rich Immortal Energy, but it's inferior compared to the Illusion Sect, a place they wouldn't bother with. Qin Shi and I had just ascended not long ago, when an elder from Illusion Sect approached us, wanting to take us as core disciples of the Illusion Sect. Naturally, both Qin Shi and I refused. In response, they sent people to completely smash our hard-built Piaomiao Palace. They even warned, 'Don't think that having trash friends like Chu Mo and the Demon Lord makes you someone significant. In the eyes of the Illusion Sect, you are less than nothing! You have one month to consider. If you still refuse, we'll make it so you can't establish yourselves in the Immortal Realm! From now on, anyone related to Chu Mo who ascends from the Spirit Realm... all of you will find no footing in the Immortal Realm!'"

In the end, Dong Yu also mentioned that Qin Shi had told her not to disturb Chu Mo with messages, but she couldn't help herself. In such a situation, she couldn't think of anyone else but Chu Mo.

A single phrase, 'I couldn't think of anyone else,' carried her grievance and sadness. The little princess of the Heavenly Realm's Dong family, to have fallen to such a state where others bully her and she could do nothing about it.

"Heh, Illusion Sect." From Chu Mo's eyes flashed a trace of murderous and chilling intent.
