Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 207: Persistence

"Forget it then..." Chu Mo sighed regretfully, and took the little Shiba Inu out of his pocket, placing it on the ground. Seeing the dog's perplexed eyes, Chu Mo felt a feeling of reluctance.

This was not only because the Shiba Inu was a Nine-Rank Primordial Beast, but more importantly, Chu Mo genuinely loved dogs.

However, the rooster had a point. Such a top-tier Primordial Beast, once it regains its memory and realizes that it has been treated like a pet, it would surely be infuriated. And for a mighty beast like this one, killing wasn't an issue at all.

"Little buddy...it's not that I don't want to keep you, but I really can't. You're a powerful creature, and I believe that no one can hurt you here." Chu Mo said reluctantly.

The rooster mocked from the side, "Alright, cut it out and let's get going. You think anyone dares to hurt it? Just a little hint of that Nine-Rank Primordial Beast aura will scare off any creature that tries to harm it!"

The Shiba Inu growled at the rooster, remembering the old grudge.

Chu Mo gently stroked the Shiba Inu's head, shook his head, and stood up, saying, "Let's go!"

With that, he headed downstream along the riverbank. Several miles downstream, you can see that the river narrows. With Chu Mo's strength, he should be able to cross it directly using several logs.

Surprisingly, the little Shiba Inu followed closely behind Chu Mo.

Chu Mo glanced at the rooster.

The rooster shook his head, "It's definitely not going to work, let's get going and we'll shake it off!"

Although Chu Mo was somewhat unwilling in his heart, he could only nod. He executed his movement skill, the Mirage Swift Step, and instantly disappeared.

The rooster croaked and vanished too.

"Woof!"

The Shiba Inu's whining was full of helplessness.

Several times, Chu Mo wanted to stop and pick it up, but was sternly stopped by the rooster each time.

"Although I'm not a good rooster, you have to believe that I don't want you to die! If you die, I won't be able to eat fortune fish for years!" The rooster looked at Chu Mo seriously, but then, "This level of creature, you definitely can't raise it! I did not lie to you!"

"Why does it keep following me?" asked Chu Mo.

Despite its short legs, the Shiba Inu was trying its best to catch up, running wildly behind Chu Mo.

"Um...how would I know? Perhaps...you smell like a dog?" The rooster said uncertainly, but with a serious face.

Chu Mo said angrily, "Looking for a fight?"

The rooster sneered, "I'll let you off with just a claw if you don't take out the Heaven Slaying!"

"You think you can take me with two claws?"

"Why don't you drop dead?"

A few minutes later, carrying two long logs, Chu Mo walked to the narrowest part of the upstream, about a few hundred feet away. With a clear shout, he threw a log with a swish, and it flew out far into the void, accurately landing at one third of the total width, and then proceeded downstream.

Chu Mo then threw another log, which landed at two-thirds of the total width.

After doing all this, Chu Mo quickly ran to the narrowest part downstream, backed up a few steps, waited for the floating logs to come by, and then sprung into the air, flying towards the center of the river.

The Mirage Swift Step displayed its power far superior to any other technique in this world. In the Four Symbols Continent, no technique could allow a Yellow Rank peak warrior to have such performance, let alone inspire such courage.

When Chu Mo felt that his strength was drained, he fell down, landing on the first floating log. He took a deep breath, ran swiftly on the slanted log, and sprung into the air again!

Then, he landed on the other floating log, and after a few steps, leaped into the air again...this time, before his strength was exhausted, Chu Mo landed firmly on the land on the other side.

Then, he turned around, looking somewhat smugly at the rooster.

"Not bad!" the rooster muttered lightly. Praising Chu Mo loudly was something it absolutely wouldn't do.

On the contrary, it wouldn't miss any chance to undermine Chu Mo.

It seemed that only by doing so, could it redeem some of its dignity, as it was a high-grade creature subjugated to a human's side.

Like right now.

The rooster opened its wings proudly, and then, gave a light shake of its wings.

This creature actually took off directly, the posture was... if not scrutinised too much, indeed gave a feeling of a phoenix soaring in the sky.

In the blink of an eye, the rooster landed gracefully in front of Chu Mo. Then it twisted its neck, folded its wings, looking spirited and haughty.

Seeing the rooster's you-can't-better-this expression, Chu Mo grumbled, "What's so great about it? Is flying that impressive?"

"Woof!"

Just at this moment, a crisp, babyish bark echoed from the opposite bank.

Chu Mo: "..."

Rooster: "..."

Then, they looked at each other and suddenly started to run like crazy.

"Woof woof..." The little puppy barked pitifully from the other bank, and then resolutely jumped into the surging river, stirring its short legs with energy, and swimming hard towards this side. It seemed not to stop until it reached the goal.

A huge carnivorous fish in the river seemed to target the little guy, slowly swimming up to it, opening its bloody maw, about to take a bite...Suddenly, an extremely terrifying aura burst out from the little puppy!

This fish, more than ten feet long was thrown upside down by the turbulent river immediately...It was literally scared to death!

The rooster was right, when this little thing gets terrifying, it is truly scary.

But it still seemed clueless, keeping its four short legs paddling in the river, trying its best to swim to the other bank. But it was taken downstream by the swift current very far away.

Watching the figure gradually disappear, the little puppy let out a whimpering cry, so sorrowful.

After Chu Mo and the rooster ran for hundreds of miles, they finally stopped. Chu Mo, panting heavily, said, "This time...it can't find us, right?"

"That depends whether it wants to find you or not..." the rooster said grumpily, "Even though it locked away its memories and sealed many of its abilities, it's still a Ninth Rank Primordial Beast, its instincts are still there. Don't mention a few hundred miles...Even tens of thousands of miles...if it really wants to find you, you still can't escape! Moreover, don't forget, what a dog is best at..."

"Ah? What should we do then?" Chu Mo was a little dumbfounded, he said, "But we came here for real business!"

The rooster said in a feeble voice, "If it's like that, you might as well adopt it...It's so clingy, once it recovers its memory, it should be ashamed to hurt you, right?"

"Ah?" Chu Mo's mouth twitched, he looked at the rooster dumbfounded, "Should be ashamed? Are you sure?"

The rooster looked up at the sky with an incredibly lonely expression and said weakly, "How can I be sure about such a thing?"

Chu Mo stared at the rooster, "I remember you said before that any Ninth Rank Primordial Beasts that felt your aura would have to bow down, right?"

The rooster looked innocent, "Did I say that?"
