Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 820: The Golden Fish

The elder continued to speak while excitedly gripping the fishing rod firmly, veins on his forehead bulging out. A low growl came from his throat, "Damn it... how can this fish be so big?"

From Chu Mo's position, it was hard to see what was happening beneath the waterfall, but seeing the fishing rod almost bent into a circle, Chu Mo couldn't help but say, "Senior, hasn't your hook snagged on something?"

The elder rolled his eyes and said with a cold laugh, "Are you kidding? It's a fish! A big fish! If you don't believe me, come and have a look yourself!"

The huge rock where the elder stood was the best position to view the entire waterfall, which meant that Chu Mo would have to go next to the elder to get a clear view of it. Chu Mo glanced at the elder and shook his head, "Never mind, I'll wait until you've caught it before I look."

The elder curled his lip, "What are you scared of? I'm not going to push you in."

Chu Mo gave an awkward laugh, thinking to himself: I don't even know you, who knows if you would push me in?

At that moment, the fishing rod in the elder's hands began to shake violently. The elder, as if grasping the law, shouted loudly, "See? I didn't lie to you, did I? Ouch ouch... damn, it's too heavy..."

While speaking, the elder kept stepping back, desperately pulling at the rod in his hands.

It was then that Chu Mo clearly saw the fishing line tied to the tip of the rod, so fine, almost as thin as a hair, glowing white as jade. If one did not look carefully, it would be impossible to notice its presence.

This fishing line is extraordinary! Chu Mo thought to himself.

As the struggle between the elder and the fish continued, the elder eventually gained the upper hand. By moving backward, he desperately lifted the fish up.

Only then did Chu Mo realize the fishing line was incredibly long, probably hundreds of yards! The elder had retreated quite a distance, yet the line still dangled into the waterfall!

The struggle on the other end also started to intensify, and Chu Mo could even hear the sound of water being slapped.

The elder was now somewhat out of breath and couldn't help cursing, "Damn it... it's just a fish, and it's made me exert so much effort. If it were back in the day... Ah!"

As he spoke, the elder put forth another burst of strength and completely pulled a huge creature up.

A fish head, along the pitch-black waterfall like ink, slowly emerged.

Chu Mo was instantly startled, this fish... was indeed huge!

For just the head of the fish was as big as a small house!

What surprised Chu Mo was that the fish was not black, but gold! The head looked carved out of gold, extremely beautiful, with golden breaths flowing over it. It appeared incredibly captivating!

The golden fish was struggling frantically, but it couldn't break free from the thin-as-hair fishing line, nor could it escape the elder's pulling. In this way, it was dragged out of the waterfall little by little!

The entire fish was more than thirty feet long and likely weighed several thousand pounds!

Chu Mo couldn't help looking at the elder with a shocked face. This mysterious place was completely different from the outside world. It seemed there were no cultivators here, and the battle he had just witnessed looked like it was fought by ordinary people. The elder also showed no trace of a cultivator's aura, yet he was able to pull a fish weighing thousands of pounds right out of the water.

What kind of terrifying power must this be?

At this time, the old man had no time to speak to Chu Mo, as he was wholeheartedly grappling with the giant golden fish. Pulling the fish out of the waterfall didn't mean victory, because the fish was still in the waters of the Netherworld River.

After being pulled up, the fish started thrashing wildly with the incredibly strong fishing line, as if it had an endless supply of strength.

The old man reeled in and let out the line, responding calmly. Although his darkened face was somewhat twisted, there was not a trace of fear in his eyes.

Chu Mo eventually just sat there watching, observing the contest between the old man and the golden fish, his face betraying a thoughtful expression. Watching the old man fish, he actually entered a mysterious Enlightenment Realm!

The old man glanced at Chu Mo and, seeing the expression on his face, was at first slightly startled, then couldn't help but mutter, "This little thing... watching an old man fish, he can also enlighten?"

The struggle lasted for almost half a day. In the end, the old man finally dragged the giant golden fish out of the Netherworld River onto the shore. By then, the fish was completely exhausted and lay still after being pulled onto land.

The old man also sat down on the ground, lacking any grace, and shouted at Chu Mo, who was still deep in thought, "Hey kid, want some fish? If you do, come over and help! Damn it, wake up, stop your enlightenment! In this damned place, even if you comprehend the supreme Great Dao, what the hell use would it be?"

Chu Mo was suddenly jolted awake, chuckled sheepishly, and slowly approached the old man carrying Heaven Slaying.

"Use your knife to help me kill the fish, it's tough as hell, and without a sharp knife... you simply can't kill it!" The old man didn't even spare an extra glance at the knife in Chu Mo's hand, just casually said.

Chu Mo, whether it was an illusion or not, actually felt as though he had gained a bit of strength in his body after watching the old man fish and experiencing enlightenment. At least he no longer felt tired after walking ten miles like before.

"How do I kill it?" Chu Mo approached the fish, which was many times larger than himself, and looked up at the fish, which was like a small mountain, scratching his head. The fish was just too big, giving him a sense of not knowing where to start.

"Of course you start by removing the scales!" the old man gasped, smirking, "These fish scales, if made into armor, could block an Emperor's attack!"

A shock crossed Chu Mo's face, looking incredulously at the old man. Not just because the old man said the fish's scales could be made into armor that could block an Emperor's attack, but because... the old man knew about Emperors?

The old man, observing Chu Mo's shocked expression, rolled his eyes and said, "Enough, get to work first, we can talk about your questions later!"

"Uh... alright." Chu Mo had far too many questions in his mind.

He swung Heaven Slaying, trying to scrape off the huge scales, but to Chu Mo's surprise, he struggled for a long time and couldn't scrape off a single scale!

The huge scales seemed tightly affixed to the fish's body, as if they were carved out of it as a whole, leaving not a single gap!

This was while the giant golden fish didn't struggle at all. If the fish were to struggle, Chu Mo likely wouldn't have had any chance at all. Now, he was beginning to believe that the scales of the fish could really withstand an Emperor's attack.

At this point, the old man chuckled, "How about it? See the difficulty? Kid, climb on it... Yes, climb onto the fish's back and look for a colorful scale. If there is one, remove that scale, and then the rest of the scales will fall off on their own!"

Chu Mo looked doubtfully at the old man, his face expressing an 'I'm not well-read, don't trick me' sentiment.

"Really... once you climb up, you'll know!" the old man said earnestly.
