Heaven Slaying Blade

Chapter 947 Don't Be a Hero

Chu Mo felt completely helpless in the face of Qi Xiaoyu's condition, despite being the heir to many supreme legacies and possessing numerous powerful abilities. But he was not an omnipotent god. Watching the suffering Qi Xiaoyu, Chu Mo grasped his own hair with both hands, wishing desperately that he could take her place and bear the pain for her.

The tone of Qi Xiaoyu's voice began to sweeten, as if she was struggling to control something. She opened her eyes, which were seductive as silk, and looked at Chu Mo:"Brother..." Then she stretched out her arms.

Chu Mo said solemnly, "Xiaoyu... wake up! I believe you can definitely overcome the corruption of the dark holy artifact!"

"I... am not corrupted." Qi Xiaoyu's face was unnaturally flushed, a vision of allure as she looked tenderly at Chu Mo, whispering, "Brother... Xiaoyu really likes you!"

In the room, the atmosphere grew increasingly enchanting. Qi Xiaoyu's strikingly beautiful face seemed to be veiled in a faint glow. The intertwining black qi in her eyes only made her appear more captivating.

In such a moment, it was impossible for Chu Mo to remain completely unaffected. But no matter how much he loved Qi Xiaoyu, he could not possibly choose this moment. Even though he knew that Qi Xiaoyu would not refuse him, whether she was lucid or bewildered, Chu Mo was still stubbornly hoping to wait for the day when both of them were completely sober… when their passion was at its deepest.

Not like now, when she was nearly losing her senses under the invasion of the dark aura… to take Qi Xiaoyu.

Chu Mo tossed and turned, trying to think of a way to free Qi Xiaoyu from her current state.

In fact, Chu Mo did not realize that the exacerbation of Qi Xiaoyu's corruption by the dark aura was related to the elixir he had just given her!

The grade of that elixir... was simply too high!

So high that such an elixir should not even appear in the Immortal Realm!

Moreover, for Qi Xiaoyu, who had fused with the dark qi, the elixir was essentially a great tonic. While it healed her injuries, the overwhelming potency of the elixir would also impinge upon Qi Xiaoyu's spiritual sea to some extent.

If Qi Xiaoyu had not fused with the dark holy artifact, such an impact would be negligible, even beneficial, potentially enriching her spiritual sea.

But the current Qi Xiaoyu has a spiritual sea that was mostly a black sea!

Once it was impacted, the black ocean would begin to rage, forming towering waves in Qi Xiaoyu's spiritual space.

How could Qi Xiaoyu of her current realm withstand such a shock? Even Heavenly Immortals and True Immortals would be unable to endure it!

Unless Qi Xiaoyu had already ascended to the throne of a god, perhaps she could then suppress it; otherwise, she had no ability to resist.

At that moment, in Chu Mo's spiritual sea, suddenly a piece of elixir prescription appeared.

Chu Mo was initially stunned, then joy spread across his face. The Sky Mirror, which had been quiet for quite some time, had unexpectedly provided an elixir prescription. Chu Mo guessed that its purpose was to stabilize the spiritual sea.

The ingredients for the elixir were all available to Chu Mo, so he swiftly concocted a few elixirs and administered them to Qi Xiaoyu.

The effect of the elixir came on quickly. The blush on Qi Xiaoyu's face slowly receded, and the entangled black lines in her eyes gradually vanished. Finally, her eyes returned to perfect clarity, and after casting a shy glance at Chu Mo, she fell soundly asleep.

She was utterly exhausted!

Having just fiercely resisted the invasion of the dark aura, Qi Xiaoyu had nearly depleted all of her spiritual power.

Looking at the sleeping Qi Xiaoyu with a face full of pity, Chu Mo thought to himself: This can't go on; it looks like I need to visit the Illusory God Realm. The Realm Spirit has disappeared; I don't know if it's still alive. I should go to the Heavenly Layer and meet that mysterious girl. I also need to inquire about Si Tutu and figure out what's really going on. What's this about raising a little maid for me... Isn't that absurd? I'm not some young master.

At this thought, Chu Mo's heart involuntarily recalled the young man who had crossed the endless starry river, calling him 'little bastard'... Chu Mo's heart felt a pang of pain.

"This time, I must get a clear answer! Why, why have you all kept me in the dark? Or do you think... you can control everything?" Chu Mo took a deep breath, retrieved a perfect clone from the Sky Mirror, and then projected his second primordial spirit into the perfect clone.

Thereafter, the perfect clone opened its eyes, recited the mnemonic, and disappeared into the void.

Chu Mo's true form quietly sat beside Qi Xiaoyu, guarding her, unwilling to leave even for a moment.

...…

Illusory God Realm, Heavenly Layer.

In the Illusory God Palace, a girl was playing chess with an old man.

"The people from over there came by recently," the girl said.

"I sensed it," the elder nodded.

"And it's a member of the royal family," the girl added.

"Weren't they supposed to be dead?" the elder returned.

"Don't you want to say something?" the girl, playing with a chess piece, lifted her head, her starry eyes landing on the elder's face.

"What do you want me to say?" the elder asked.

"You can curse if you like!" the girl rolled her eyes, "Because I'm not very good at cursing..."

"..." The elder was speechless and sighed softly.

After a while, suddenly.

"Damn their grandson of a bitch ancestors, those full-bellied, do-nothing bastards, a bunch of screw-ups! Eyes so full of themselves they can't ever see anyone else, arrogant fools! A bunch of nobodies pretending to be noble, dirt clods so pathetic you don't even know what to say! A bunch of idiots! A bunch of vermin! A bunch of bastards! All deserve death! Those people should have been cast down from the Luotian Immortal Domain long ago, to wallow in endless cycles of reincarnation for millions of years, to see what high and mighty act they can put on then! Shit!" The elder cursed a litany, leaving the girl dumbfounded.

After a long time.

"Are you done cursing?"

"I wouldn't curse so harshly in front of a young lady like you," the elder said, a bit red-faced.

"What about that last word?"

"That's just a mood particle, can we not nitpick?"

"Fine," said the girl, placing her chess piece, "You've lost again."

"What do you mean I've lost again... As if I've ever won!" the elder said, his face filled with sorrow and indignation.

"He's here."

"Hm?"

"Do you want to keep hiding?" the girl looked at the elder, "But I don't think it's necessary anymore, because those two star formations have been sealed. At least for the next hundred years, no one from there can come over."

"Then let's not hide! Some things, he should know," the elder said in a solemn voice.

"Do you really want to tell him?" the girl raised her eyebrows.

"What do you think?" the elder countered.

"Even if the star formations are sealed, the lady's name... remains taboo. I believe that merely mentioning it would be enough for them to find a way over. Mere star formations, although somewhat difficult... are not insurmountable for them. Aren't they?" a faint hint of irony played on the girl's face.

"Then... should we tell him... about his father's affair?" the elder's voice had a hint of inquiry.

Upon hearing this, the girl looked somewhat saddened, "Are you sure he won't go mad after hearing it?"

"I think... he has matured quite a bit," the elder said uncertainly.

"Anyone, upon hearing about their own father... I don't think will take it too calmly," the girl said.

"But he has to find out sooner or later, doesn't he?" the elder stated.

"Isn't it too soon?" the girl whispered softly, "After all... he is still a child!"

"The children of the poor have to take charge early," the elder seemed to have convinced himself, saying to the girl, "Letting him know his dad was a great hero is actually a good thing!"

"Is it really a good thing?" the girl's sparkling starry eyes flickered as she murmured softly, "Blood of a hero, tears of a beauty... if possible, I wish for Chu Mo to do anything he likes, just not to become a hero."
