Hero or Villain, Both

Chapter 260: Leading them by the nose

While I had no idea what was happening, it wasn't as if I could remain confused like this.

So the only thing that I could do was make use of this situation and come up with a new plan to deal with these Metal Lizards.

"I'm the bait!" I suddenly shouted at the rest of my people.

They were caught off guard when they heard this, but they quickly adapted when they realized what I was talking about.

It was hard to miss when they saw the Metal Lizards following behind me in a row like this.

I didn't care that I was shouting it out loud like this since it wasn't as if the Metal Lizards understood what I was saying. At the same time, it really didn't seem like it would have mattered if they could understand what I was saying.

The way that the Metal Lizards chased after me, it was clear that they weren't thinking about anything other than how they would catch me.

For the Metal Lizards, it really seemed like they were obsessed with something that I possessed.

Since that was the case, I would make full use of this and have them chase after me.

With the Metal Lizards chasing me, the others quickly changed their positions so that they were following behind me as well. However, they made sure that I was right in front of the Metal Lizards while they followed behind so that we still had the Metal Lizards trapped between us.

So even if the Metal Lizards suddenly decided that they didn't want to chase after me, they would still be trapped in between us and wouldn't be able to escape that easily.

However, it really didn't seem like they had any plans of escaping.

The way that they chased after me, it seemed like they would stop at nothing until they caught me.

"What is so special about me that they're acting this way?" I even had to ask this question when I saw them chasing me like this…

After all, I didn't believe that there was anything that special about me that they would be acting this way.

Still, this made it easy for us to take down these Metal Lizards.

Since they were focused on me, they didn't notice the others attacking from behind.

The first one that was targeted was the one that had been previously injured by me.

Since it was injured, it wasn't able to keep up with the rest of the pack and fell behind. Once it fell behind, it became the prey of the ones that were chasing after it.

At the same time, the injuries that it had suffered just made it easier to put this Metal Lizard out of its misery. Since its thick skin had already been penetrated, it meant that the others were able to attack that same wound and kill it without any issue.

The problem was the other Metal Lizards.

They didn't have a reliable way of penetrating their skin without my help.

I was about to turn around and do something, but I found that it wasn't necessary.

Instead, Leaf suddenly created several root spears that came out of the ground and pierced through the skin of the Metal Lizard in front of her.

It wasn't able to fully penetrate, but it did wound that Metal Lizard. It had scratched the skin of the Metal Lizard and had created openings for the others.

So even if I didn't step in, they had their own ways of dealing with the Metal Lizards.

That meant that the only thing that I had to do was keep ahead of the Metal Lizards, but that was easy. The Metal Lizards were nothing more than big and heavy lizards in the first place, so it was easy for me with my physique to remain ahead of them.

The only thing that seemed a bit concerning was the look that was in their eyes as they chased me.

Even when it was clear that the Metal Lizards had run out of stamina, it didn't seem like they were planning to give up for even a second as they continued chasing after me.

It was as if they were planning to chase me down to the ends of the world with how they chased me.

After running for a bit, I suddenly came to a stop and faced the Metal Lizards.

Though the ones that I faced were only a fraction of the pack that was left.

We had been running for a while now and my people had been taking down the Metal Lizards from behind one by one. It was only natural that there would only be a fraction of the pack left after all of that.

Since there was only a fraction of the pack left, that meant that there was no need to use the same method as before.

The moment that I turned around to face them, it was as if the Metal Lizards saw their opportunity. Even though it was clear that they were completely out of energy, the Metal Lizards didn't seem to care as they were planning to burn everything just to take me down.

So that was why they all swarmed me in an instant.

If there were more of them, then it would be a problem since I wouldn't be able to handle so many of these Metal Lizards on my own.

But since there were only a few of them left and they were all tired, I was able to keep them back with just a few swings of my sword.

At the same time, it wasn't as if I was doing this alone.

There were roots that came out of the ground that held back one or two of the Metal Lizards from time, which just gave me even more space to work with.

That was how with just a few swings, the rest of the Metal Lizards were all cut down and laid there on the ground as corpses.
