Both Rothchild and I were taken aback when we heard this.
After all, this certainly wasn't what we had been expecting to hear from King Abel XIV.
It really was a curve ball that was thrown at us with him saying something like this, but it didn't seem like he was going to stop.
"How about this? I'll give you special permission to set up your shop in the capital and prepare a space for your store." King Abel XIV suddenly said after a moment of keeping us in suspense.
Once again, we were caught off guard by these words.
It certainly didn't seem like this was what this would be leading to, but this was the conclusion that King Abel XIV came to. It really seemed like there was something more to all of this that King Abel XIV was aiming at.
"We've certainly been hoping that we would be able to enter the capital of the Abel Kingdom, but it's been hard since there are many established stores here. I don't think that it would be good if we were to suddenly open a store like this, your majesty." Rothchild said with a trace of hesitation.
"Humph." With a snort, King Abel XIV said, "What can they say if it's a royal decree? If I say that this is how it'll be, do you think that they would say anything against it?"
If it was any other kingdom, then this wouldn't be the case since the monarch didn't have absolute power. But this certainly was the case when it came to the Abel Kingdom.
King Abel XIV was able to gather all of the power of this kingdom and center it around himself, that was what made the Abel Kingdom such a powerful kingdom.
It also meant that if he really wanted something, he would be able to get it.
"Then with your majesty's grace, we will happily accept this." Rothchild said at first before changing his tone to say, "It's just that the size of our store…"
"Your Grand Shopping Mall, as they call it? I've already heard about it, so you don't have to worry about anything." King Abel XIV said in a casual voice as if everything really was in the palm of his hand.
"You've heard of us, your majesty?" Rothchild slowly asked this question.
"I haven't heard much, but there have been certain things that have reached my ears." Narrowing his eyes, King Abel XIV said, "When there's a new kind of store that appears, it would only be natural that I would hear about it. I'm actually very curious about what kind of store it is."
Though he said that he was curious, it really didn't seem like he was.
It seemed like he already knew what kind of store the Grand Shopping Mall was.
"Your majesty, this might seem offensive, but I don't think that our store will be to your taste."
Everyone looked at Rothchild like he was an idiot when he said this, but Rothchild just looked right at King Abel XIV as he said this without a single regard for what anyone else thought.
There was a trace of surprise that appeared in the eyes of King Abel XIV when he heard this, but then he revealed an amused look as he said, "Oh, why is that?"
"It's simply because the items in our store are more targeted towards the general public rather than to someone of your standing. I don't think that the items in our store will be up to your high standards." Rothchild said without any quiver in his voice.
The others couldn't help taking a cold breath when they heard him say this before looking at King Abel XIV as if they were waiting for his reaction.
King Abel XIV didn't seem to react to these words at first as he just calmly looked at Rothchild, but then there was a smile that slowly crept onto his face as he said, "I've already heard of this as well. However, I'm still interested in seeing what kind of store your Grand Shopping Mall is."
Rothchild gave a nod to acknowledge this before saying, "Actually, your majesty, I've been thinking of opening a new kind of store as well. I think that this store would be more suited to your standards."
"Oh? Pray tell, what is it?" King Abel XIV said in an interested voice.
"It would have the same structure as the Grand Shopping Mall, but the difference would be the items that it would hold. Instead of holding items that would be for the general public, it would have items of a higher standard for those that had more money to spend."
Though he didn't say it directly, everyone could already figure out what he meant by this.
He was saying that he would be creating a store for nobles.
King Abel XIV wasn't the only one that was interested when he heard this.
After all, it wasn't just King Abel XIV that was in this room. It would be impossible for him to be alone in this place, so there were also royal guards that were here.
These royal guards were also nobles, so they couldn't help being interested in this store as well.
After all, people loved things that were exclusive.
If there was a store that was just for nobles, they would naturally go there instead of a store for the general public.
After a moment of silence, King Abel XIV said, "Then you may open this store. We'll prepare enough land for both of these stores."
"Thank you, your majesty." Rothchild said with a bow.
It was a fact that he had been trying to figure out a way to expand his company into the Abel Kingdom, but he didn't want to draw attention while doing this.
But now that he had been linked to the king of the Abel Kingdom, the highest power here, it didn't seem like he had a choice.
In that case, he should get as much out of it as possible.
