The clouds around Zixiao palace gave off the same incomprehensible aura Haotian had witnessed every time he arrived. Even as great as he was, he would still be taken aback by the energy flowing around the place.
In here, the Three Realms seemingly became irrelevant. Only Hongjun, the profound mysterious supreme Dao Ancestor mattered.
Haotian passed by no attendants as he entered. It was natural after all. The last person to live here outside of Hongjun were Yaochi and her son, Yang Jian.
As a result, the massive palace compounds became akin to a ghost. Not dilapidated, just empty. Haotian could even describe it as creepy how clean everything was.
"Master, your disciple greets you," Haotian said after arriving before a cultivation chamber. He waited several moments before the door opened on its own.
"Ah my dear disciple," Hongjun happily replied. "You've come at a great time. I can feel my pull over the Heavenly Dao strengthening again. Your work?"
"Yes master. Though I apologize for my slowness. Matters have torn my attention away."
"Matters not, you didn't need to take in the burden to begin with. I know that despite becoming emperor, your own court would not be pleased with going against the Heavenly Dao. You had to move carefully."
Haotian nodded carefully, betraying no signs of scorn. He stood up with the persona of Haotian, disciple of Hongjun instead of Jade Emperor once more.
They had done this song and dances many times already. At the end of each yuanhui, Haotian would return without fail. Though progress in his tug of war over Pangu's Dao had been slow, Hongjun never doubted his disciple's loyalty. He was raised by him after all.
"Master, there is a pressing matter I wish to inform you of," Haotian said.
"Oh? Pressing enough to concern you? You are more than capable of beating opponents who's stepped onto Wuji. What could possibly concern you?"
The atmosphere remained light, as was expected of the Dao Ancestor. Haotian presented evidence he'd collected in the Chaos Sea.
"Great harvesters attacking Chaos Worlds and cultivation communities? This is no strange occurance. Would be conquerors are nothing new," Hongjun said.
"But the frequency of these…winged beings appearing at the borders of my scout's patrols. It is concerning."
The two discussed for longer, but while Hongjun entertained the topic, he evidently didn't give it much thought.
Hongjun had become extremely lofty over the years. Eons of Dao realm attainment turned him more off from worldly affairs then ever. Anything except its conflict with the Heavenly Dao was a minor matter.
"That seemed pointless."
Haotian was met with a familiar woman outside Zixiao palace. He didn't stop, and she also began following slightly behind him. Yaochi, the woman who held office as the primordial goddess who presided over the grand chariot.
She was also the head of all the stellar deities, outranked only by Four Imperials and the Jade Emperor. In practise though, only Haotian could tell her what to do.
"Implanting the thought is what counts," Haotian said once the two crossed the border back into the Three Realms. "As long as he knows I'm threatened of the great power in the beyond, he'd hesitate to accelerate his battle with the heavens."
"Yet you waited until now to do it? We've known about these…'Tian Shi' for fifteen yuanhui."
Haotian did not answer her at first, merely sighing with regret. "What happens to other Chaos Worlds are non of my concern. You know as well as I that it was only recently that the true scope of their operations became known. If only all signs didn't make it clear negotiations were impossible."
"How cautious of you," Yaochi scoffed. "You want our master to fight for you right? Trick him into getting rid of your problems before you finally double cross him hm?"

Disappointment rolled off the goddess. She almost aimed her spear at Haotian's neck.
"Plans are never set in stone and the future is forever in flux, first lesson of divination and any would be schemer," Haotian reiterated. He wasn't even the tensest bit threatened by her.
The reality was, he could've initiated the final battle against Hongjun fifteen yuanhuis ago. He could've summoned the saints, forced his court to join hands in a formation, and command all the intense faith the Heavenly Court had gathered.
And if nothing else, the Tathagata Buddha would ascend to the Dao realm and assist. The Heavenly Dao may dislike him, but he could easily claim cluelessness.
"Let's not dally, my back catalogue cannot be allowed to grow bigger," Haotian said to her.
At the same time, his left hand ran along the pages of a thin book. Yaochi didn't need words to know the warning.
…
Upon the ruins of the great city of Asgard, and the corpse like husk of Yggdrasil. A location where the body of a long deceased giant lay empty handed. Where a wide jawed wolf had collapsed on the slope formed by castle walls.
Two apex cultivators smashed against each other with herculean force. Shockwaves that shook all of the dilapidated Nine Realms cascaded outwards.
The Chaos Sea momentarily exploded with ferocious tides which tugged and pushed nearby Chaos Worlds into a frenzy.
Between the environmental catastrophe, Da Hai managed to match Yurlunggur blow for blow. Their Dao fruits, both filled with absolute truths that could integrate, calculate, and transform into any other concept, smashed against each other on a scale rarely seen in all existence.
In a titanic fashion akin to the eternal turmoil of yin and yang, Da Hai and the rainbow serpent continued to battle. As they intermingled, even their physical appearance could not be properly perceived anymore.
A Dao originating from the concept of the consciousness that was then named dreams. Its most primeval ability was to impart purpose onto ignorant individuals, giving form to confusion.
In appearance, it was also like winding river. In the rainbow serpent's mastery, it was a Dao so advanced it bordered on the omnipotent Dao realm.
But Da Hai's own Dao was undeterred. Whenever the dream reached out, its outreach dissipated. It was unable to cross the eternal distance despite its ability to perceive its target.
Yurlunggur had to admit quality when he saw it. Few in the Chaos Sea were similarly capable, and most would've fallen already.
"Your aggression is unwarranted," Yurlunggur warned Da Hai.
"Unwarranted? Then why do I see you eating my disciple's flesh?" Da Hai's incomprehensible form roared.
The two spiraled out of control, becoming a source of creation in and of themselves. Yggdrasil's husk was grinded down by the essence of their clashing Dao's. The numerous Chaos Worlds attached to it were being caught in the ocean of concepts of the two Daos.
In an instant, whatever their inhabitants practiced were overtaken by the the Limitless Daos standing at the summit. And the two giants had not even noticed.
Eventually, Yurlunggur would admit to being pressed by Da Hai. The latter seriously wanted to capture him, an act he would not allow.
As the scattered dream reconnected into a mighty serpent, hurricanes were summoned to herald his form. He raised his head with mouth gapping.
A long branch like shape manifested before it. A wooden structure engraved with obscure paintings of scenes, separated by black and orange colours. It was also hollowed out, like a trumpet.
Instinctively, Da Hai's mind was drawn to a distant memory. It didn't belong to him of course, merely an inheritance from the human predecessor.
Yurlunggur did not hesitate to breath into the instrument. A continuous drone sound emerged. Simultaneously hypnotic as well as disturbing. Almost in an animalistic way akin to wild birds.
"Oooh…Oooh…Oooh…Oooh!"
"Oooh…Oooh…Oooh…Oooh!"
"Oooh…Oooh…Oooh…Oooh!"
Da Hai felt the beginnings of a migraine. Parts of his existence was compelled by the sound. The dreams weaved by his opponent were magnified significantly to a point where it was successfully reaching him.
"What a rhythm."
Da Hai instantly summoned a tidal wave to drown out the sound. His primal nature as the incarnation of the East Sea exploded out of his physique.
From which, his true form sprang out. Each of his eight enormous heads roared with a sound reminiscent of crashing waves.
Each roar shot through his Dao, reversing its position with the rhythm, becoming 'close,' while the music was 'far'.
"A fellow snake born of water," Yurlunggur diminished his music seeing as it was no longer as effective.
"That's a Digeridoo," Da Hai hissed. "A chaos ranked spiritual treasure Digeridoo."
For the third time in a row, Da Hai encountered something out of mythology. Knowledge that he thought was useless trivia from a fantasy world a long time ago was once again, proven to hold merit.
"There are so many rainbow coloured creatures in this world. Even the dragon Cai Hong is a serpentine example. But you're the Rainbow Serpent from the Dreamtime stories. Yurlunggur."
The aforementioned snake raised an eyebrow. "So my foe knew me. Is this an assassination then? Are you with those white winged drones?"
To him, the eight headed sea serpent had already made itself his enemy. "If your disciple is anything like you, suffering my wrath is inevitable."
Da Hai's elongated body also coiled in anticipation for the next round. "Threatening Zulong? Death is too good for you."
"BE. NOT. AFRAID."
White noise echoed three worlds across all reality in this localised area of the Chaos Sea. An overwhelming enlightening effect began infecting every world attached to Yggdrasil.
"BE. NOT. AFRAID."
"BE. NOT. AFRAID."
The constant projection drew the ire of Da Hai. He'd been aware spectators were watching. But for them to approach and directly participate was something rarely done.
Experts fought all the time in the Chaos Sea. People from all walks of life would be drawn in by the noise. For two Limitless Supreme Chaos Immortals, what cultivator wouldn't be fascinated?
But everyone also knew these events to be great risks. The aftershock of said fighters could spell calamity for them. If the fighters were insane, they may even target them next.
Even in the Three Realms, such a culture would develop. But the brazenness of walking in the middle of a heated battle despite possessing lesser power, then to throw around their weight like they were the authority?
It was unheard of.
"BE, NOT. AFRAID."
"HERETICAL. PRACTISE. CAN. BE. FORGIVEN."
"ALLOW. LIGHT. WITHIN. YOU."
Gigantic creatures of bright light appeared one after another. Their forms, far more confusing then the shapes Da Hai and Yurlunggur had taken early on in their battle.
Wheels upon wheels, wings upon wings, eyes upon eyes. Heat propagated from every word they spoke. No mouths had been needed.
"What gall," Da Hai spat. "For the sake of your own health, LEAVE."
"Hm." The rainbow serpent in contrast, went silent.
"BE. NOT. AFRAID. HERETICS."
"INGORANCE. CAN. BE. FORGIVEN."
"SIN. CAN. BE. REPENT."
"RESTORE. YOUR. TRUE. NATURE. WE. SHALL."
"OH. HEAVENLY. FATHER'S. LIGHT."
"ALLOW. SALVATION. TO. BEFALL. YOU."
Endlessly holy, this was what Da Hai experienced every time they spoke. He narrowed his eight pairs of eyes, turning slightly away from the rainbow serpent.
"Leave unless you want to be caught in the crossfire," he warned again.
"HERETICAL. PRACTISE. IS. SIN."
"SIN. CAN. BE. FORGIVEN."
"BY. OUR. HEAVENLY. FATHER'S. ENDLESS. LIGHT."
"REPENT. REPENT. REPENT."
"REPENT. REPENT. REPENT."
"REPENT. REPENT. REPENT."
