Carlotta's Daily Report

Chapter 210: Lost One

Carlotta put away her alchemical airship and flew down herself, continuously descending. The journey was exceptionally silent.

There were no monsters; she couldn't see a single one.

Nor were there any valuable items. No materials included. Even upon reaching levels with vegetation, all she could see were withered trees. Everything had perished.

The entire Tower of Babel now exuded a scent of decay, as if it were to be abandoned by time in a forgotten corner of this world.

Precisely because there were no obstacles, Carlotta descended very quickly.

However, during her descent, Carlotta couldn't help but look up.

There was no danger in this world's Tower of Babel. Did that mean she could ascend to higher levels without any hindrance?

In her own world, Carlotta had heard many stories about the Tower of Babel. She knew that many people wanted to explore its highest levels, driven by curiosity about what lay beyond. However, no matter who tried, they always ended up failing.

This was because the higher levels of the Tower of Babel presented increasingly mysterious dangers; it wasn't something one could simply climb if they wished.

But now, in the Tower of Babel of this other world, it seems no dangers exist. Could she, then, reveal the secrets of the tower's higher levels here?

Carlotta was somewhat tempted, but ultimately she reined in her thoughts, deciding to first go outside the Tower of Babel to assess the situation.

A new world was too fresh for her. She was eager to see what kind of world it was.

However, based solely on the conditions inside the Tower of Babel, she could roughly guess what kind of world this would be. Regardless, it was best to see it for yourself first.

Floor after floor, Carlotta finally traversed segment after segment, successfully reached the first level of the Tower of Babel, and eventually walked out.

In the dim sky, frighteningly deep, cracks spread across the void, as if the entire world were merely a mirror on the verge of shattering.

The land was desolate and silent, vegetation withered, rivers dried up. A black-gray ash drifted through the air, scattering everywhere, settling on the ground and making the earth appear even darker.

This seems to be a world already swept into the ashes.

Carlotta stepped out, her gaze sweeping around. Everything she saw presented scenes imbued with a sense of desolation and sorrow.

This was a broken world. It had once been glorious, giving birth to countless powerhouses, but now it was so dilapidated, filled with a desolate feeling.

Carlotta felt that there might be no one left in this world, because no one could survive long-term in such an environment where everything had withered. This was a world that should have perished long ago.

"I actually saw such a world. Was this the result of the ancient divine war? But where are those gods? Where did they ultimately go?"

Carlotta murmured to herself.

She didn't turn back, but continued to travel through this world, witnessing its desolation.

The Tower of Babel of this world was located on a massive continent, surrounded by a vast plain. Many dilapidated cities exist in the vicinity.

Even though these cities were ruined, decayed, and devoid of people, one could still tell how grand they once were. All of them were built around the Tower of Babel, but now they are nothing but ruins.

Carlotta also saw some special ruins, mixed in with the city ruins, but clearly not belonging to this city.

After a brief assessment, she concluded that these architectural ruins might have originally been in the sky. The alchemical prowess of this world was far superior to her own; floating cities and even floating islands were not uncommon.

"Everything has returned to dust."

Carlotta walked through the lost city, inevitably affected by the environment, sighing for reasons unknown.

Suddenly, Carlotta's face showed a peculiar expression, even shocked.

Because she found traces of human activity!

This world had been desolate for an unknown amount of time. Even if there were human traces, they would have become very faint with the passage of years. But at this moment, the traces she saw appeared exceptionally fresh, so new that it was somewhat unreasonable.

"Were these traces left by someone recently? Who? Someone who arrived in this world before me? It can't possibly be that the native people of this world still survive, can it?"

Carlotta murmured to herself.

Her expression was serious and solemn as she stared at the ground not far away. A line of footprints stretched for a short distance, not very long, indicating that the person who left them had flown down, walked a few steps, and then flown away again.

Who could it be?

Carlotta was quite concerned. Anyone who could appear in this world was very unusual, and she couldn't ignore it.

After a moment of thought, she took out her alchemical airship, entered it, made it invisible, and then quickly flew around the area, searching.

As long as someone had left traces, there was no reason she couldn't find them.

In fact, she made a discovery just two hours later.

In the distance, there was a building that looked relatively intact, though its design wasn't particularly good. It was clearly not built by someone skilled in architecture, but rather seemed like someone had casually made a dwelling place.

At the entrance of the building, there was a lounge chair, and a person was currently lying on it, looking very leisurely.

It was a man, dressed in black, with a deep aura. One could tell at a glance that he was no simple individual.

In fact, who could be simple among those who could still appear in this world now?

Suddenly, the man opened his eyes, sharply raised his head, and looked in her direction.

Discovered?

Carlotta's heart jolted. The alchemical airship's invisibility was undoubtedly strong. She had used it in her own world's Tower of Babel to weave through numerous Weaver monsters without being detected, yet now she was discovered?

She saw from afar the black-clad man's eyes widen in surprise, and then his expression turned to joy.

"Whoosh!"

The man moved suddenly, approaching her with astonishing speed. In almost an instant, he appeared in front of the alchemical airship.

Then Carlotta saw him raise a hand, and an inexplicable force acted upon the entire alchemical airship, causing it to show signs of aging in an instant, as if it were gradually becoming sluggish with the passage of time.

Yet, this alchemical airship was clearly brand new!

Carlotta's expression was grim as she quickly controlled the airship to counterattack.

The combat power of the alchemy airship was by no means low. At this moment, a light golden protective shield appeared on its surface, immediately resisting the power that would make itself old.

Then, on the alchemy airship, numerous muzzles emerged one by one. Accompanied by bursts of roars, they intertwined into a large area of brilliant fire, engulfing the dark clothed man.

"Beep, analysis complete. The target is using blight magic."

The alchemy airship possessed excellent functions and quickly identified the dark-clothed man's methods, describing the effects of blight magic, allowing Carlotta to quickly understand it.

This magic was not complicated; it could make all things older and decay, and its lethality was not low.

Even the cannonballs fired by the alchemy airship were affected by blight, and their power was greatly reduced for a time.

This dark-clothed man was not easy to deal with.

Of course, for the dark clothed man, the alchemy airship that appeared from its invisible state was also very difficult to deal with.

His expression was somewhat moved, and he began to regret his rashness, quickly retreating.

"Wait, don't attack yet. Let's talk. Are you a native of this world? I'm just someone who accidentally entered this world."

The dark clothed man said loudly.

Native?

Carlotta was thoughtful, perhaps her driving the alchemy airship caused some misunderstanding on the other side.

She also heard the other party's accent. He should be from the same world as her, and he was from the Northern Continent, probably from the Sun Moon Federation, belonging to that area's accent.

"State your detailed identity."

Carlotta's voice was transmitted.

Her voice, amplified by the alchemy airship, had a metallic texture when transmitted.

The dark clothed man looked at the massive alchemy airship in front of him, feeling a little emotional. He had been in this world for a long time and had a general understanding of this world. He knew in his heart that this world had gone very far on the path of alchemy, inventing many things that his world did not have.

It was just that he originally thought that this world had withered and nothing was left, and he had been saddened and helpless about it before.

But he really didn't expect that the alchemy airship, a research achievement of this world, could reappear. What did this represent? Could it be that somewhere in this world, the tinder of this world still exists?

If so, could he no longer live a life of only one person?

Living alone for such a long time, that kind of life was truly enough to drive one crazy.

"I am from another world, and I came through the Tower of Babel. I was also the leader of an organization in that world. Well, the organization I established is called the Tree of Life Organization, and I have a good understanding of medicinal alchemy on the path of alchemy."

The dark clothed man seriously introduced himself, stating that his name was Caius Peake.

Such an answer shocked Carlotta's heart.

She was naturally not unfamiliar with the Tree of Life Organization, after all, her past self had also had some interactions with this organization.

The Tree of Life Organization was as famous as transcendent organizations such as the Stellar Spire and the Mechanical Fortress, known throughout the Northern Continent.

Carlotta never thought that after entering this withered world, what she would see would actually be the leader of the Tree of Life Organization!

Is it true or false?

She tried to recall information about the leader of the Tree of Life Organization, but after thinking and thinking, she still couldn't figure it out. If Amelia were here, she could ask more questions; she herself knew too little.

"Why did you suddenly attack me?"

Carlotta asked again.

"About that..."

Caius smiled bitterly and said, "If you had the same experience as me, I think your choice wouldn't be much different from mine."

He sighed and talked about his own affairs, stating that he was also helpless because he hadn't seen anyone else for too long. When he saw that there were others, his heart was shaken incredibly, and he naturally wanted to keep them and ask some things clearly.

He stated that he had no ill intentions, and really just simply wanted to ask about the situation.

Finally, under Carlotta's questioning, Caius explained his situation clearly.

He actually came in when the Tower of Babel was last opened!

After entering the Tower of Babel, he went all the way up and once traveled with other Weavers, but when they reached the two hundredth floor, they had a disagreement with their companions. He still wanted to explore higher floors, while his companions did not plan to go to higher floors, only intending to find gains before the two hundredth floor.

So Caius was left alone.

He stated that he just entered a marine world on the two hundred and fifth floor, accidentally entered a marine vortex, and inexplicably arrived at the Tower of Babel in another world.

But he didn't know he was in another world at the time; he didn't even have this concept. It was only after wandering in that Tower of Babel for a long time that he realized something was wrong and wanted to go back.

But just as he was about to return, the opening time of the Tower of Babel ended, and he couldn't go back.

Normally, when the opening time of the Tower of Babel ends, like the Sky Island, people still inside will be expelled out.

But Caius didn't have time to go back, and the Tower of Babel ended, so he could no longer return to his original world through the vortex in the sea.

"I couldn't go back, so I could only come out of the Tower of Babel, only then realizing that I had come to another world. I wandered in this world for a long time, searched for a long time, but couldn't find anyone. Just like that... decades passed."

Caius sighed.

Indeed, decades had passed since the last Tower of Babel.

During this process, Caius stated that the decaying Tower of Babel could be entered at any time, but no matter how many times he came to that ocean, he could no longer find the previous vortex; he couldn't go back.

Carlotta listened, her expression somewhat subtle.

She felt that the area where the two worlds connected in the Tower of Babel should change with each opening. The passage on the two hundred and fifth floor had now changed to the two hundred and first floor.

"Has the environment in the Tower of Babel always been the same?"

Carlotta asked again.

"No."

Caius shook his head.

"When was the last time you entered the Tower of Babel?"

"It was..."

Caius thought for a moment and gave his answer; it was quite a long time ago.

After all, if he didn't see results for decades, he couldn't possibly still frequently enter and exit the Tower of Babel.

Carlotta was thoughtful upon hearing this.

She continued to ask for some details and understood some situations.

The Tower of Babel, no matter which world's Tower of Babel, should have the same environment on corresponding floors each time it opens.

Of course, it was only the same at the beginning and would not always correspond.

Because she found that some of the floor environments Caius described were different from what she knew.
