Bals's fist was hovering right at the tip of Shitang Longsi's nose, while the other man's dagger was poised at his waist. Just as they were about to strike, both men halted upon hearing those words.
Under the moonlight, a figure slowly emerged from the darkness. "Save your energy, are you all children? Aren't the fights at headquarters enough? Now you're fighting in enemy territory. Be careful, this isn't the realm of the Divine Desires. Any slight mistake and we'll be in an irredeemable situation."
Shitang Longsi looked at the young man before him, dressed in a white undershirt with a Chinese-styled buttoned jacket over it, like a handsome youth from the Republic era. Slowly, he retracted his dagger. Although he was arrogant, he still had some apprehension about this person.
Bai Ze, one of Candle Dragon's favored pupils, had originally joined this infiltration mission as a test for the Six Heads apostle. But two days ago, he suddenly arrived in Huaxia, having gained his teacher's approval to participate in this mission.
Bals watched as Shitang Longsi was the first to back down and retract his long knife, coldly sneering as he reluctantly withdrew his own fist. Applause echoed in the empty warehouse. "Alright, everyone's here. It's nine o'clock now, and we have an hour before the designated time, yet I still haven't sensed Du Guangyuan's presence nearby." As he spoke, Lawrence, who had previously scouted out Zhu Yuping's house, stepped forward, looking down at the small red pulsating ball in his hand. "Hmm," he said softly.
"Hmph, that old man wouldn't be too scared to show up, would he?" Bals returned to his seat, exhaled a puff of smoke, and mocked, glancing at Zhu Liping, who was tied up and gagged, sitting on the chair, pushed there by Mary. "In the end, she's just a woman. Du Guangyuan doesn't seem like a romantic guy!" He stood up, walked over to Zhu Liping, pinched her tender cheek, and tousled her slightly rounded belly, grinning insidiously. "To be honest, it's the child inside her belly he truly cares about. Now we shall see which is more important to him: the child or his own life."
"To capture Du Guangyuan, do we all have to come out?" A glint of cold light flashed, and in the moonlight, a blond white man with strikingly blue eyes and handsome features leaned against the wall, playing with a military knife that exuded an icy aura, disdainfully said.
"Hartman, if we're just trying to kill him, I think two of us could do it together. But the organization wants to capture him alive. That's a bit more challenging since I've heard he's quite tricky. Isn't that right, Shitang?" Lawrence said as he moved a chair for Bai Ze and brought one for himself, sitting down while casting a playful glance at Shitang Longsi.
"Hmph!" Shitang Longsi snorted coldly, turned his head away, and fell silent. Bai Ze interjected, asking, "Are there any other people nearby?"
"I scouted the area earlier; it's all abandoned warehouses here. After eight, there's usually no one else around except for an old guard at the gate. Do you want me to take care of him?" Bals said, standing up and speaking in a low voice.
"Although we plan to force Du Guangyuan into Jiezhi Space to fight later, if we make too much noise beforehand and let that old man call the police, we'll be in a passive position. Go and make sure it's done cleanly." Bai Ze said, lifting his coat and crossing his legs.
Bals nodded, just as he was about to step outside, Hartman, lurking in the shadows, sharply called out, "No need, he's already here!"
Upon hearing this, everyone's expressions subtly changed. Lawrence glanced down at the bloody little ball in his hand with a puzzled look. Then, amidst the grating sound of an iron door being pushed open and the clanking of falling chains, two figures appeared at the door.
A gust of bloody wind blew in as the door opened, Bai Ze narrowed his eyes to see Du Guangyuan standing proudly at the doorway, dragging the corpse of an old man behind him.
Du Guangyuan casually tossed the old man's corpse into a corner, sneering, "You needn't bother, I've already dealt with him. You wanted me here, and now I am. Let's talk about our business."
Clap, clap, clap! A round of applause snapped through the air. After the clapping stopped, Bals gave Du Guangyuan a thumbs-up, complimenting, "Good! You came early, I must say you're a real man. Indeed, you've turned from a seventy-year-old into a young man just like in the photos, ah, is this a youthful spring awakening after anti-aging?" Saying so, he walked over to Zhu Yuping, pinched her cheek and laughed, "How did you live so long and still believe in love? Or is it that what you care about is this little bastard in the belly?"
Du Guangyuan completely ignored Bals's provoking words, focusing instead on Shitang Longsi and shouting, "Shitang Longsi, I want to ask why the organization treats me this way. What have I done wrong? Haven't I been loyal enough? After all my diligent service over the years, even in the last mission where I persisted until the end, you know all of this. Oh, wait, you don't know! You were the first to flee! But then, why, despite my loyalty to the organization, do I end up in this situation now?"
Facing Du Guangyuan's near-roaring questioning, Shitang Longsi touched his waist, rubbed the hilt of his blade, and somewhat helplessly said, "Du Jun, please forgive me, this is not my decision but an order from the organization. I can only express my deepest sympathy for what you've been through."
"Don't pretend to be so pitiful. Du Guangyuan, do you think the organization doesn't know what you've done? Hurting ally Little Vlad wasn't a mission assigned by the organization, right? Honestly, I admire your ruthlessness, but you weren't thorough enough. When you do something like that, do it cleanly. Your mistake was not eradicating the roots. The man not only survived, but also brought his father. You should know better than anyone the relentless nature of that family. So now tell me, if you were the leader of the organization, what choice would you make?" Bai Ze teased as he swung his coat and reclined in his chair.
Upon hearing Bai Ze's words, Du Guangyuan lowered his head, sinking into silence. After a long while, he raised his head with a tragic expression and sorrowfully said, "No matter what, I've devoted years of hard work to the organization. If nothing else, I've at least had my share of toil. Since I've come here alone to take responsibility, let her go."
"Fine, I can give you that face. Surrender yourself to us, and we will release her!" Bai Ze said, gesturing with his hand as Mary lifted the seated Zhu Liping and brought her before Bai Ze.
"Let her go first, and I'll go with you!" Du Guangyuan, gritting his teeth, seemed to make a significant decision as he responded.
Bai Ze narrowed his eyes with a mocking sneer, "Du Guangyuan, do you think we're some benevolent philanthropists respecting the old and cherishing the young? Do you still have the leverage to negotiate with us now?"
