Suppressing the emotions of horror to verify his thoughts, Pei Yan decided to take action again to test, and with his mind made up, he leapt out and landed behind the five giant insects.
Bright lightning descended from the sky, and the sound of thunder resounded across the battlefield. One of the giant beetles was struck by lightning at its weak point, twitched a few times, and collapsed, unable to rise. Pei Yan reappeared immediately, becoming the focal point of the field; although he avoided the enemy attacks, his attention remained on the fallen giant beetle he had just struck down.
He clearly understood that with the insect's astonishing endurance, his lightning strike could not possibly cause a fatal injury. But its companions clearly thought otherwise. As it fell from his lightning strike, its body composed of multiple enslavers quickly disassembled, reverting back into senseless enslaver maggots, quickly surrounded by a group of enslavers that devoured its unconscious corpse entirely.
Seeing this scene, Pei Yan knitted his brows and looked toward the new type of giant insects continuously forming behind the swarm, wondering if it matched what he suspected, which depended on their next attack measures.
With concerns in mind, Pei Yan acted more cautiously, deftly weaving through the attacking giant insects, continuously reaping the attackers' lives while avoiding distant enemy assaults.
This situation persisted for less than twenty minutes, and the swarm's attacks changed again. Apart from giant soldiers wielding scythes and hammers, a new type of insect body composed of enslavers charged toward Pei Yan.
These giant insects, much smaller than the other two types of close-combat ones, appeared like flattened rhinoceros beetles with a flat body, sturdy limbs, and a hard shell, their heads topped with long, forked single horns, moving like armored vehicles at high speed, drilling under other giant insects and heading straight for Pei Yan.
Siding away from the collision of a rhinoceros beetle monster, Pei Yan leapt onto its back, his Miao Dao easily slicing through its back armor. Before he landed, a dazzling blue light appeared in the distance, followed by thunderous sounds, and a lightning strike targeted his body mid-air.
Just as expected! Pei Yan, who had been on guard, easily dodged the sneak attack. Seeing the electric sparks flickering between the forked horns of the rhinoceros beetle monsters' heads confirmed his previous suspicions.
This group of enslavers is replicating his abilities! They perfectly copied his vibration and lightning attack, but his electromagnetic cannon and metal storm, due to technological augmentation, they could only simulate, reducing their effectiveness significantly. But how are they accomplishing this?
In the shelter, Raphael watched Pei Yan maneuvering effortlessly in the attack on the light screen. Even though he hadn't found a way for Pei Yan to break free until now, when he noticed Pei Yan's brief hesitation after the appearance of the rhinoceros beetles, he looked at Bailang with a smile, saying, "I guess he's about to ask you questions!"
Bailang's actions confirmed his words, as he lightly pressed his earpiece with a low voice response, "I can hear you speaking, yes, I am observing your battle scene!"
Soon, Pei Yan's response came through the earpiece, "Can you tell me the detailed information about these newly emerged insect monsters?"
Hearing this, Bailang glanced at Sifuer beside him, and after her nodding indication, he coughed a few times and replied, "They are still enslavers."
"What?"
"I think you've noticed that these insects are all composed of enslavers. Essentially, they are still enslavers. The reason for their transformation is that their mothership has arrived, lurking not far away." Bailang said as he leaned back in his chair, recalling with lingering fear his previous encounter with these creatures, "Each of these insects individually has insufficient combat power to be feared, limited damage, no intelligence, lacks remarkable endurance, and resistance. They are inferior to even the lowest-level Magic Beast. However, their bodies possess the ability to record received damages. After death, these insects will devour the corpses entirely and transmit this information back to their mothership, which after gestation and simulation, will retaliate by simulating the enemy's attack method."
Dodging a lightning sneak attack, Pei Yan swung his long knife and cleaved a rhinoceros beetle monster in half, exclaiming, "Doesn't that make them invincible? Do they not have any weaknesses?"
"Naturally, they are not invincible. These enslavers also have their limits. For instance, they cannot simulate attacks that far exceed their own abilities, and at most, they can only simulate a weakened version of your strange artillery. Isn't that the case? As for martial skill slashes, although they can also simulate the blade cleave, after all, they are insects, and they cannot imitate overly complex martial skills." Bailang leaned forward as he spoke, clasping his hands, his eyes fixed on the screen, "They are not omnipotent, and their weaknesses are evident. You see those newly assembled insects? We collectively call them armed ones, regardless of their transformations. You may notice some of these armed ones have shining green points in certain areas."
Listening to Bailang's reminder, Pei Yan attentively observed during his dodging maneuvers, and soon discovered the green lights he mentioned. The rhinoceros beetle armed ones had three shining points on their backs, while the other two armed ones had five on their backs. "I see them. Are these their weaknesses?"
"Yes, what you see are the Thought Controllers. They are released by the mothership. Enslavers do not have cognitive abilities; it's only under the control of these Thought Controllers that enslavers can shapeshift and mimic attacks. So, no matter how many armed ones you slay, as long as these Thought Controllers are alive, they can re-possess enslavers into new armed ones to fight you. Therefore, in battles, we prioritize targeting these weaknesses. Fortunately, the number of Thought Controllers carried by the mothership is not extensive, which gives us hope to prevail."
"Understood, so all I need to do is focus on heavily targeting these green-lighted insects, is that correct?"
"Yes, but I advise you to retreat from the battlefield soon, and I recommend you use thunder and the like sparingly. The more frequently these insects endure this type of damage, the stronger their resistance becomes. Soon, you'll find that your lightning strikes will no longer cause substantial harm to them."
Pei Yan was slightly stunned upon hearing this, glanced at the red light emerging from his palm, and immediately canceled the original plan in his mind, bewildered, "If I repeatedly electrocute these insects, will the entire Disaster Legion's enslavers gain resistance to lightning? Does the Hell Plane not have a method to use Thunder Skill?"
