It really didn't take long before two cars drove up and a guy in a police uniform hung out the passenger window as he called out to us.
"Devon, is this the young Lady we are meant to be protecting?"
"Yea, I saw her ID, it's definitely her." The man standing next to me replied.
The man in the car smiled and waved at me as he said, "hi." The way he did it kind of reminded me of a little kid seeing his idol. I nodded my head slowly to him before turning my attention back to Devon.
"They are here, now can I go?" I asked, simply wanting to get to my frigate as soon as I could.
"Yes, I will be your driver from now on, and the rest of George's squad will lead and follow to make sure you are protected," he then shrugged before continuing, "we are your VIP escort for when you are outside the guild tower."
I groaned as I got off my car and walked to the back seat. After opening the door, I hopped in and slapped the lockbox off the back seat before slamming the door shut. I put my seat belt on, slamming it home into the buckle before turning my attention outside the car. From where I was sitting, I saw them exchange a few words before Devon turned and opened the driver door and got into the car. The second he opened the door, the outside sound returned, and my anger was completely forgotten as I looked around the car in amazement as I realised it was completely sound proofed.
"This car really is amazing" I whispered.
Devon, was about to close the door when the sound of George's voice caused him to pause and look back at the man still hanging out the window.
"Hey, the ice, remember that beast is built like a tank, it will withstand anything an ambush can throw at us, so don't go belly up and panic when shit kicks off, okay icy."
George's car pulled ahead before Devon could respond, and blue and red lights around the car turned on as it stopped ahead of us. Devon went to slam the door but thought better of it at the last second and gently closed the door before muttering loud enough for me to hear.
"You're such an ass, and it's Ice, get it right or don't say it at all, and it isn't a derogatory term, you monkey turd, it's my bloody call sign."
He turned the car on and twisted a knob before pulling it out, revealing a cylinder behind it that had a button in the side. He pushed that button then pushed the knob back in, a second later, blue and red lights around my car turned on. This caused me to look around in surprise as my mouth fell open. A few seconds later, I snapped my mouth shut and glared at Devon.
"What the hell did you assholes do to my baby!"
"Uh, well, it was an amazing piece of machinery before it was brought up here, and someone had even used a small perk fragment to enhance the nano and features. They clearly loved this car and wanted it to last. However-"
"What the hell do you mean they used a small fragment perk? Can you actually use those?" I said quickly as I interrupted him.
"Yea… they have small minor kinds of effects and are only used for enhancing stuff, it's better to save them up into a small perk where they can actually be used for something good. But anyway, ya know how the dry docks needs licences to build stuff other companies have designed and made, then you buy the blueprint. Well, the fabricator has the same deal, and when a bunch of the mechanics and engineers found out the stuff they could build. Damn girl, they lost their fricken minds, then this girl arrived. And well a looooot of credits went into stuffing the Guild Mistresses Transport full of all sorts of tech and armour, this bitch even has weapons! Now, where are we headed to and since this car can practically fly, should I leave these fools in the dust on the way there?"
An array of emotions crossed my face as I was glad my baby was up here and stronger than ever. The weapons were interesting, but I wasn't going to let my baby into combat. Then anger at someone daring to touch my baby and the desire to kill them slowly was all quickly replaced by curiosity at the use of small perk fragments.

"It seems, there is more to this system than I was led to believe, I think we are going to need to find someone with the pilot class and see what the differences between my void pilot and their pilot class is, because I am starting to think that the void part is not a system enforced inscription into the galactic military, and it might actually be some other meaning entirely… oh, right, take me to the dry docks, I need to start working on the frigate and fuck these fools, I'm in a hurry."
I watched the grin cross his face as he slowly nodded and turned back to look out the front of the car. I could see George hanging out the window again with a what the hells taking you so long, hand gestures.
"Flight Captain, are you ordering a Sergeant such as myself to leave these civvie pussies behind, mind you that would be against the orders I have received from the Chief of Police, and rush you as fast as I can to your destination?"
"Yes" I said simply as I stared at him.
"Ha, done!" he replied in glee as he gripped the steering wheel a little tighter.
"Alright George the wimp, you are about to find out why they call me Ice, now strap in butter nut because this combat medic has nerves as cold as ice when it comes to getting to my destination."
"What?" I asked with confusion, not getting the metaphor. The next second, I was thrown back into my seat as the car lurched forwards, swerving around George's car and speeding off down the road.
"Haha, so long granny, I'm out of here!" Devon screamed a few seconds before drifting around a corner.
I sat calmly in my seat for all of one second, before I grabbed the oh shit bar with one hand and my seatbelt with the other. Devon had gone quiet, I looked at his face, I could see that it had turned into a serious one, the smile and slight air of fun was long gone. He kept the car moving at a fast speed, barely slowing down even a bit before drifting around a corner, cars, and even a few pedestrians.
"Ooh" I groaned as I closed my eyes for a minute before opening them and talking to Devon. "Put me in the pilot's seat of a plane or ship, and I'll dance her fat ass like she's the belle at the ball, but stick me In the back seat and I turn to rubbish."
I heard Devon chuckle for a second before the car slid into a long tunnel, and he revved the engine, increasing the speed. I glanced out the back window and couldn't see any other cars.
"What do you think? Lost and can't catch up?"
"With any luck, yes!"
I narrowed my eyes slightly as I caught the tension in his voice. I glanced back out the window checking to see if any cars were coming, I didn't see any, so I turned back looking out the front window at the long tunnel. It was a few moments later that I realised what was missing. The blue and red lights had been turned off at some point.
"Uh, why did you turn the lights off?" I asked nervously.
"Uh, that would be because I don't actually trust George or any of his squad. They try to hide it, but I can still hear the slight American accent in their voices."
My head snapped around to stare at him as I couldn't help thinking 'WHAT!' it took a few moments for my brain to reboot and start wondering how the hell Americans had… I was mid thought when I remembered that the American light sages common clan had called in a favour to be up here.
"There is a clan of Americans that is allowed up here, perhaps they are with that clan?" I suggested.
I saw him turn his head to look at me in the rear mirror before he spoke.
"Then why hide the accent?"
"Uh…" I was still scrambling for any idea that could explain why they would do that when the car exited the tunnel and arrived at the dry docks. My mouth fell open, and I forgot all about the Americans as I saw all the bustling people running around and driving trucks with all sorts of materials and many other things. They were all heading to and from one or another of the three docks. Devon continued on as he angled the car towards the third dock, we quickly passed through a huge door into what looked like a manufacturing warehouse. The car continued on down the middle as Devon grinned and revved the engine a bit, before long we were passing through what I could only call a colossal sized gate. On the other side, I found myself rolling down my window to hang out of it, and I stared up at the belly of my very own frigate class ship.
"It's beautiful" I whispered to myself in awe. Only to scream in horror as a panel the size of a city block disconnected from the ship as a huge robotic arm pulled it away. I watched it vanished behind a nearby gate, heading off to who knows where. I slowly slid back into the car as the window raised moments after. I sat there feeling mortified, I noticed Devon glancing at the rear mirror, watching me.
"It's nothing, just horrifying to see what keeps you safe and alive being torn apart." I said as I turned my head to look out the window next to me. I quickly glanced back to see him smirk before turning the car into a parking bay next to what looked like a house in the middle of this dock. "The hell is a house doing here?" I asked in confusion.
"Uh, you're asking me, who am I meant to ask?"
"Then why are you parking here?"
"Oh, uh… it was just the first parking spot in the dock that I found."
"Right…" I said as I turned my head to look out the window, only to scream and recoil away from it as I saw Clara standing outside, leaning over to put her face right next to the glass. She had a big grin on her face. I groaned a few moments later when I realised how foolish I had been. I saw Clara start talking and gesturing her hands, but I couldn't hear a word she was saying through the sound proofing. I turned and opened the door behind me and slid out of the car and shifted, so I was looking over the boot at her.
"Well? Are you going to answer?"
"The car has some serious sound proofing, I couldn't hear a thing"
She made a face at me and rolled her eyes before walking around the car to stand next to me and put that grin back on her face for a moment before talking.
"Welcome Auntie Kenna to dry dock 3 where I take your most prized possession and tear it to pieces, isn't it the greatest place you have ever been?"
"Where's the nearest airlock, I seem to have a death seeking niece that wants to take a space walk without her suit." I instantly replied with a deadpan voice.
