"No! I am sick and tired of being pushed around and told what to do ever since that stupid system appeared!" I shouted and turned on my heel, stomping off as I glared angrily. I had had enough of all this bullshit. I was sick of it! I stormed through the ship and into the medical room of the ship. I went over to the computer, quickly loading up all the immunisations Devon had just gotten and any others that were on the ship. I wasn't allowing myself to be in that sort of position again, a girl had to have her protections. I suddenly had the urge to buy a taser. As I chuckled at the urge, I walked over and crawled into the medical bed before activating the machine to immunise myself.
An hour later, when the bed let me out, I stumbled a bit as I regained my balance. I turned to look at the bed with a frown, wondering why I had to stumble every time I got out of that thing. After a few moments I left the room, I quickly headed through the ship to the weapons control room and down into the control chair. Once I sat down and connected to the ship, I found Devon in the skiff about halfway between the frigate and the planet and narrowed my eyes, feeling that flare of annoyance and anger again before activating systems and thrusters. I began to follow him down.
"push me around, drug me, try to steal my shit. Attempt to destroy my shit when you fail! Well, I have had enough! You want me angry? You want me to be the bad guy? Fine, motherfucker, I am the bad guy!" I screamed as the frigate continued to accelerate and quickly passed the skiff. The frigate quickly arrived and went into the planet's atmosphere. As I descended out of it and into the clouds, I slowly began to level out the ship and brought it to a stop amongst the clouds. A few quick scans later, I found the spot that the skiff had previously almost crash-landed on. I could hear the radio pinging as Devon tried to hail me. But I was still angry and decided to ignore it as I focused on a cannon that slowly rotated around to point directly at the town the cat-eared woman had come from.
"Kiss my ass, you thieving criminals!" I screamed as I noticed the same damn woman standing in the middle of the town by a well, staring up at the ship. I mentally loaded the cannon with a plasma bolt designed to turn that thieving bitch and her town into a smoking crater.
However, I was hesitating to pull the trigger, feeling I might be overreacting. I considered the collateral damage to the innocent people that had nothing to do with that thief. In my moment of uncertainty, I let the radio pickup and heard Devon's voice.
"Skiff 1 to Lost Hawk I am under fire from ground forces requesting covering fire, I repeat Lost Hawk, I am under fire, I need help!"
My eyes immediately narrowed and the next second the town was nothing but a smoking crater as the plasma bolt slammed into the spot the thieving woman had been standing on. This caused an explosion of dirt, rubble, and who knows what else to fly into the air. My eyes opened wide in shock as I had not meant to pull the trigger, but the continued screams for assistance from Devon focused my attention. I turned my attention to the sensors and the cannon rotated again as I started using the sensors properly on what was actually going on down below. Soon I found anti-air guns sitting on a castle wall firing at the skiff and my frigate.
"you dare?" I hissed as I finished rotating the cannons to point at the castle. I paused suddenly, feeling like one of those young masters that stood in the middle of the street and screamed, 'you dare? Don't you know who my family is?' I laughed before grinning at the castle as I whispered, "do you not know who my frigate is?" I giggled to myself and slowly shifted the frigate between the anti-air guns and the skiff that was quickly approaching. I noticed it slowing down to hide in my shadow, and I turned my attention back to the castle.
My anger was starting to subside, and I had begun to think clearly. I looked over my sensors again, noticing the castle had a city, and the level of technology in that city was more advanced than the medieval town had suggested it should be. I was slowly scanning the technology to see if there was a way to contact them when I felt the skiff landing in the cargo bay and was being towed into the dry dock on board. I flicked the radio to contact Clara and decided I would be making the decisions on this ship and no one else would be telling me what to do anymore.
"Clara, take that skiff into repairs and get it back into working order, then we can send Devon running for the ground in the opposite direction of the castle so he can touch dirt and claim as much land for me as he can, over and out!"
Not waiting for a reply, I turned the radio back to normal channels and continued to scan, looking for a radio frequency I could use to contact whoever was in charge down there. However, my sensors and cameras were also picking up all the activity that was happening around the castle. I watched all the people running around and over the battlements as they continued trying to fire their anti-air guns at the ship. I noticed all the ammunition fired at my ship was easily swatted down by my laser defence grid.
The tale has been illicitly lifted; should you spot it on Amazon, report the violation.
"Ya know, I'm really glad we got that one repaired." I said to myself as the sensors finally picked up a weak signal from the castle and I locked onto it and began to scan it.
The sensors picked up the skiff running from the frigate and heading away from the ship, using the clouds as cover. I watched him moving further away from the castle before he began to angle down towards the ground near the horizon. Turning back to the scans, I smiled when I saw I had a lock on the signal and decided to say hello.
"This is the captain of the Frigate class battleship Lost Hawk speaking on an open channel to anyone below who can hear, you have violated the treaty of first meeting almost resulting in the death of a diplomatic person, respond and explain yourself at once!" I broadcasted on the channel I had identified.
I watched the anti-air guns stop and the soldiers running all over the place slow down and look up at the ship, before a couple of them started running again, this time towards the castle.
"Ooh, I think that struck a nerve." I giggled to myself as I continued to watch them.
I had not received a response from them and was about to try again when the radio pinged me from another channel and I quickly flipped to it to hear Devon's voice.
"I have made it planet side, ditching skiff and attempting to claim the planet in the name of Kenna Mackenzie, please standby Lost Hawk!"
I smiled as I turned a camera towards where he was leaping from the skiff, zooming all the way in so I could see it. I watched him roll across the ground and just before he popped back up the system announced.
Congratulations, you are now the planetary king of the beastkin-ball planet.
"What a weird planet name" I mumbled as I watched Devon run back towards the skiff.
I slowly zoomed the camera back out and flicked the radio back to the castle's channel.
"This is Captain Kenna Mackenzie of the Frigate Class Battleship Lost Hawk, I am speaking on an open channel to anyone below in the castle or surrounding city. Your planet has violated the peace treaty of first contact. The diplomat sent down to make first contact was almost murdered, we are demanding you respond and explain yourself at once, or we shall take this as an act of aggression and begin planetary reclaiming procedures." I said, as I did a quick mental check, from the little book Zeo had given me, to make sure that was the correct terminology for this situation. I was about to give up when I heard a male voice that sounded almost like he was hissing as he spoke.
"I am King Ballfroic imyo'ak and you are a liar! Historic records state that the ships that visit this world every thousand years are unmanned and are only scanning the planet to ensure. We are developing properly and making sure we, the chosen people of God, have everything we need. My people are tracing this signal and when we find you, you will be arrested for impersonating the angels!"
"Is that so… well, do you see that giant mountain on the north-western horizon?"
"what? Mount Ti-ah-yuk?" I could hear the confusion in his voice.
I just smiled as I rolled the ship over, my sensors had spotted the large Mountain that I associated with the size of Mount Everest on the horizon shortly after I had positioned the frigate over the castle. I quickly pointed a long range missile launcher at it.
"Then, as a demonstration of how much you have pissed me off, you may now say goodbye to your rock."
The next second there was a mushroom cloud and the entire mountain was just gone. At that moment, it suddenly occurred to me, I may have just gone too far. My attention drifted back to the castle, but I kept a bit of it on the sensor readings and breathed a sigh of relief when the scans told me the missile was not nuclear. The only thing in the cloud was dirt particulates and metals. However, the sensors did indicate that the land for a thousand kilometres around the impact zone had been turned into scorched earth.
"Damn, that's one fuck off type of missile." I mumbled to myself as my radio pinged me, I switched the channel to hear Devon speaking.
"-iff 1 to Lost Hawk, I am onboard, mission has been completed."
"Acknowledged, Skiff 1, grab some chow and settle in for departure."
I then shifted the radio back to the king guy and waited for him to respond to my indication of power.
"Tha… that was the holy Mountain, where our people arrived on this world." He stuttered, and it took a few more moments before he spoke again. "I beg your forgiveness, your holiness. It never occurred to me that one of the angels would ever speak to us. It's inconceivable, in the last three thousand years of recorded history the angels have never spoken to us mortals."
I was about to respond when the radio pinged and indicated a direct channel from Clara to me. I flicked the radio over to the channel.
"Kenna, we have ownership of the planet, we need to leave and begin construction of the mining barge and the base of the mining station as soon as possible. I just got a message from my father that the people are on their way."
"Alright, we will leave the planet in a few minutes, these fools obviously need a bit of time to think about what they have done." I said before flicking back to the king's channel.
"Many onboard are still calling for the reclaiming of this planet, and your apology that is mostly just a blame shifting excuse does little to alleviate their tempers, therefore I have decided to depart this world. I will return, and when I do you better have a very good explanation for the attempted murder of my diplomat!"
I let out a sigh as I disconnected from the radio channel and turned my attention to the thrusters slowly angling the ship towards the atmosphere. I winced as I thought about all the damage I had done to this planet because of one individual that had tried to kill me. I added more power to the rear thrusters, quickly exiting the planet's atmosphere and continued heading away from the planet. I turned the ship and headed into the asteroid belts, where I could start construction of the Mining Headquarters.
