Reincarnated in the Alternate World, I'm A Demonic Lord as Well as a Villager

Chapter 271: The Tale of Two Young Girls Catching Ghosts_2

The Elf Maiden and Lina, the white-haired girl, both had soulless gazes, feeling the people around them were noisy.

This? Surely you haven't seen the Demon King before, not even close to Shami.

Disheartened, the two left the touring hall.

Stepping into a bar, they ordered two hot milks. By the time they left again, it was dusk.

Having played in Zashi Deler all day, both were a bit tired.

They exchanged glances.

"How about we stay here overnight?"

"Hmm. Let's call it research on human cities by the Demon Envoy."

The white-haired girl agreed.

They entered a hotel.

"Please give us a room with a big bed, thanks."

The white-haired girl spoke first.

The receptionist gave them a knowing look, handing over a room card.

"The vending machine over there sells girl's essentials."

"Thanks, we brought our own toiletries."

Lina shook her head, refusing.

The Elf Maiden seemed a bit dazed, following Lina away from the front desk, only to gain some distance.

"Lina, although today I held your hand for a long time and stuck with you quite a bit, I'm actually not into girls. Sorry if I gave the wrong impression..."

The Elf Maiden spread her hands, clarifying her inclination, with a hint of a flirtatious undertone.

Lina glanced around.

"It's not that. It's because the big bed room is cheaper. Even if we have quite a bit of money now, we can't spend it carelessly, right? We've been sleeping together for so long, booking a big bed room is the most economical choice."

"Lina, you're really thrifty. I almost want you to manage my little treasury."

The Elf Maiden paused for a moment, catching up with Lina.

The hotel's big bed room.

After freshening up, the two girls lay on the bed. Lina was counting today's trophies, while the golden-haired one slipped her hand into her clothes, feeling her belly, preparing to sleep.

Just then, both of their rings started making a noise.

A faint silhouette slowly shot out from their rings, landing above the bed, forming a figure projection.

This was the result of Shami's recent research on ring communication—a three-dimensional Demon King image!

When using ring communication, Shami could project her image into the Demon Envoy ring, reflecting from the Demon Envoy's ring.

It gave off more of a big boss vibe.

Formed from purple-black gas, Shami looked straight at them.

Both Lina and the Elf Maiden hastily sat up properly.

It was like a sudden interrogation of love, asking 'What are you doing?' or 'Are there any guys around?'

But soon, they realized they misunderstood.

Shami's gaze was icy.

"Where are you two?"

"In, in Esper Kingdom's western Zashi Deler City."

Lina nudged the Elf Maiden, who quickly answered.

"Haha! Going so far for reviving demons, huh?"

Shami joyfully praised them.

"As expected of Lureya and Lina. I thought you two were slacking off, vacationing outside of the Demon Realm. Wouldn't it be grand to complete the task right on the last day of the holiday, given our abilities? Seems our leader mistakenly doubted you two."

Both the Elf Maiden and Lina were sweating bitterly.

Even their words were predicted! If caught fooling around outside, they'd surely be captured and beaten silly, right!

"Y-yeah..."

The Elf Maiden awkwardly chuckled, easing the silence.

"So how's today's progress?"

Shami calmly inquired.

"It's, it's underway, already in progress..."

"..."

Seeing this, Shami didn't say more, noticing the two girls laying together, she smiled reassuringly.

A flat golden-haired girl and a white-haired girl were indeed the best of friends, their bond beyond his imagination.

"If that's the case, I won't disturb your rest then. Remember to cover with blankets, Lureya and Lina."

"Mm..."

"Oh, okay..."

"I won't leave the door open for you at the Demon King Castle tonight."

Gradually fading away, formed from the purple-black gas, Shami disappeared, leaving the two sitting stiffly on the bed to breathe a sigh of relief.

"Also, to prevent you from playing outside and forgetting the task, if the task is not completed within a week, we'll never leave the door open for you at the Demon King Castle again, prepare to sleep on the streets then."

Shami's final words softly echoed.

"Turns out Shami already knew we were playing!"

"What should we do, Lureya, we really need to properly complete the task!"

Lina regretted it deeply, her face full of aggrieved frustration, like a good student led astray by bad influences.

"Don't panic. It's only a day wasted. If we start moving now, we'll be fine."

In contrast, no matter where they were, the flat golden-haired girl remained inexplicably reliable, starting to lead the task.

Joyfully pulling out the Demons Atlas given by Shami, they studied it on the bed all night.

The next morning.

They had initial plans.

"Flying type demons are harder to revive. They are less common than regular demons and require more materials. To revive one within a week, there's only one that's feasible."

The Elf Maiden handed a page from the atlas to Lina.

Lina glanced at it.

[Soul-Stealing Ghost]

[Type: Common Demon · Flying Demon]

[Revival Material: A wild ghost]

[Ghosts, also commonly known as 'Ah-Piao,' are beings composed of energy that can interact with real objects.]

"Lina, let's go catch an Ah-Piao!"

The Elf Maiden spoke earnestly.

Lina also felt it was a good choice.

Compared to other gargoyles and stone sculptures, understanding their information alone would require considerable effort, but Ah-Piao was something they were most familiar with.

"But how exactly do we do it?"

"True, normally you wouldn't pay much attention to Ah-Piao, so when you're truly trying to look for one, you'd be stuck not knowing where to start."

The Elf Maiden pondered, stroking her chin.

"However, there are many novel items here, perhaps one will come in handy."

The Elf Maiden and Lina exchanged a tacit glance, then split up, heading to the stalls around Zashi Deler City to search for items that might summon an Ah-Piao.

Late night.

The two girls regrouped in the hotel's big bed room.

"Lureya, have you ever heard of a pen that moves on its own?"

The Elf Maiden looked over curiously.

Lina slowly revealed a black pen she had found at one of the stalls.

"This is a cursed pen. It's said that at midnight, if two people cross their wrists, place a pen between them, and lightly hold it vertically against the table while softly calling or silently thinking, 'Pen Spirit, Pen Spirit, please answer my question,' the pen can automatically write an answer. It's basically summoning a pen spirit phenomenon."

"Let's try it then!"

The Elf Maiden eagerly suggested.

Both girls sat across from each other at the table, their slender hands touching, crossing their wrists, holding the black pen in the center.

Placing a sheet of white paper beneath the pen tip, they exchanged glances.

Their lips parted slightly.

"Pen Spirit, Pen Spirit, please answer my question. Can every number greater than 2 be written as the sum of three primes?"

"? Lina, what are you asking?"

"Sorry, once when visiting the Wisdom Academy, I saw an old Wise One pondering this question, so thought I'd ask. If it's a pencil ghost, it should be able to answer, right?"

"No, how could it? Just thinking about it gives me a headache!"

Feeling the motionless pen in her hand, the Elf Maiden shook her head.

"Don't ask such difficult questions, you might scare away the pen spirit!"

"Then you ask the next question."

The two girls repeated the sequence.

The pen tip touched the white paper, and all the surrounding lights turned off, leaving only a crystal on the table emitting a dim light, creating a spooky atmosphere.

Now, it was just a matter of waiting for the pen spirit to appear.

The Elf Maiden looked at the pen in her hand and slowly opened her mouth.

"Pen Spirit, Pen Spirit, please answer my question..."
