Knowledge and Power: Reincarnated Into A Society That Only Values Strength. (A weak to strong fantas

Chapter 397: Rebirth.

"Alright Mr. Dragon. There are really only three pieces of information I need. Firstly, what happens to me if you leave my body. The dragon's blood is currently making it impossible for me to become corrupted by dark magic right?"

He let out a long hum. "The parts of your soul that were changed will remain as that of a dragon, while the parts of your soul that are me will leave, most likely being filled over time by the dragon in you as you continue to grow."

'Word salad… Nice… But I think I get it.' "In other words it's not something to worry about. Ok, in my second form, I gain a whole bunch of physical buffs and stuff, will I still be able to use that power?"

"Yes and no."

"Explain."

"Dragons all have two forms, one that is human and one that is dragon. You, naturally also have two forms, but because of the questionable origins of your heritage, your second form, rather than being that of a dragon, is essentially just a bigger human. With me gone, you will still have this form. However, that is only half the powers you currently possess. The other half are what is known as dragon aspects. An aspect is what allows people with dragon's blood to mimic a dragon's physical characteristics without actually developing them. For example, Rune could technically learn how to breathe fire, but this would be an aspect brought on by her dragon's blood soul, rather than physical characteristics."

"So… It's like dark magic."

He growled.

'I guess he doesn't like the comparison…'

"You are only able to use aspects because of my presence, in order to use a dragon aspect the intensity of your emotion has to be equal to that of a dragon, which is likely impossible for someone as hollow as you are."

"Hollow really… Couldn't you say mellow instead?"

He raised a brow, pausing for amoment before he continued. "Your second form as you call it will be able to still grow toughened skin and increased mana capacity, but this is imperfect. A perfect change would be one in which both forms were unequivocally the same in all metrics. The things you will never be able to use again, include wings, a tail, true dragon scales, and true dragon claws, such as those you've been using in the past couple of battles."

"That's not a bad price… I don't really want those anyway since I'm afraid of heights without you…"

"Dragon aspects also clash with the dark part of your soul, since using them requires a drastic amplification of your dragon's blood. This is also the reason why the two parts clashed and I was unassimilated, as well as why you felt so sick."

'In other words it's a power I might as well not even have anyway…' I sighed, lowering my head into my hands. "Alright… Last question. As an egg, how long would it take for you to hatch and melt all of my enemies for me?"

"I have no idea… But I would be reborn as a baby, and not be fit for combat even if I did hatch quickly. However, dragon eggs themselves do hold tremendous amounts of mana, so it is possible you could use the egg as an artifact to help you cast larger spells."

'I'm sure that wouldn't affect the child's development at all…'

"So your questions have been answered." He said boldly, waiting for my answer.

"If I get rid of you instead of assimilating you, does that mean I'll be myself again and not have to worry about feeling subtly disgusted every time I see a cute boy?"

"Yes."

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

"I should have led with that… What are we waiting for?"

He sighed. "Please stop. You are not funny."

I let a pause sink in before taking things seriously again. "How… big is it going to be?"

He raised his head and stood up. "You are starting to ask questions you don't want to know the answer to."

"If you don't answer–"

"Will it make it worse?" He asked, creating a rock the size of my stomach that instantly made me start to feel nauseous again. "You've already made up your mind, save yourself and stop asking. Besides, it looks big only because you are small, naturally you would have to be in your equivalent form to a dragon in order to do this."

"Ok but…"

"Dragons were not cursed with difficult labor, so pain is not something to worry about, in fact those I know of describe this sort of sensation as quite pleasurable."

"That's… Worse somehow…"

"As I said, you should stop asking questions."

I sighed. "How long will it take?"

"The egg has already been forming for a while. I knew you would say yes, so change forms whenever you're ready."

"AND IF I SAID NO?" I shuddered, chills covering my whole body.

"You weren't going to say no."

I felt my face twist as I growled at him. "How could you possibly know that! No matter how much you think you know me there was a chance I would have refused!"

He stared out over the cliff's edge, ignoring me as I yelled at him. "Under normal circumstances I would agree. However, I am literally you, so in this scenario specifically, and only this scenario, I believe this was fine. Furthermore, now is the ideal time, as it is likely the last period of rest you will get before this war's conclusion, and a decision must have been made quickly for you to continue to fight at full strength. As a sudden loss of my presence would take some time to adjust too."

"I hate you…"

"The fact that you are so easily calmed is just another reason why dragon aspects do not suit you."

"Most people would call that a good thing… Is that why I've been so nauseous?"

"No, that's entirely due to your weak mental fortitude towards things you deem gross. Things affecting your one form do not necessarily affect the other, rather than thinking of each form as one body, it's better to think of them as separate bodies, which is why your dragon form is not covered in scars."

I sighed. "The real question is how do I hide this from everyone else? It won't take long will it? What kind of excuse should I use… I found this dragon egg in the river?"

"Let me remind you that I am in fact a male of my species. And a sliver of one at that."

"I'm going to be so happy when I finally get rid of you…"

"Your sister would be far more suited to my powers. It's a pity you can't see my greatness."

My eyebrow twitched. "Maybe I can crack your egg and feed it to her…"

A dead silence swept through the air. "I'm surprised you would–"

"Don't… I regretted it instantly…"

He chuckled. "You should go now. I've shared your body long enough, it's time you have it back to yourself… It's been extremely uncomfortable, and I wish to never do this again."

"I agree."

"Of course you do, I am you."

"You are literally the worst…"

"I said leave." He said softly before whacking me with a wing and sending me flying off the cliff, spiraling back into my physical body on the outside, which had already changed into my much larger form, with a stomach that was… Slightly bigger, if only because that form had the thin waist of a lizard. Nonetheless it wasn't hard to cover, and using my magic it was also surprisingly easy to sneak out of the camp and far, far away, into the woods, instructing my wyvern friends to make sure no one came near me and the small cave i found. Esentially speaking it was another Dragon aspect, so for that and many other reasons, I let the dragon take control of my body completely one last time shuting myself away inside my soul until it was finished.

I watched his impiral form slowly fade away, his majestic scales loseing color before vanishing as if turning to ash right before my eyes.

When I came too, I was small in size again and carrying an egg as big as my head. My body was so hot that my head felt fuzzy and my manna was nearly completely drained. After a while I made my way back to the camp and came up with some excuse or another, nervously explaining that I found the egg in the woods because of my dragon instincts and managed to get by… Although Airsidh took a bit more to convince… Apparently my face was unrelentingly red, my body was cold rather than hot, and I admittedly felt somewhat more nervous than before, needless to say, I wasn't the same person, so it's no wonder he thought something was off…

It was true that my second form was weaker, I knew that much, but it still wasn't enough for me to somehow get sick. As for the egg, it really did burn with magic power, so much so I could feel the heat radiating from it as it flooded into my circuits with every pulse of its heart beat. Admittedly, given the circumstances, it was a relief that it actually worked, although as far birth defects went I obviously couldn't tell if he had any. Just thinking about it made my head spin, so I decided not to do that either, at least not for a while.

"So that's what you were doing…" Airsidh said, making me flinch back, my mind pulled out of my own thoughts and trying to make sense of the present. 'Wait, what did I say happened?' "You remember. I told you, didn't I? That your ears twitch when you lie… Although, the part you're lying about seems to be how you found it and nothing else."

Seeing my entire body tense up as he moved closer he practically froze in place "I won't ask… But you look even more exhausted. I told you to get some rest Didn't I? I'll take care of the egg while you take a break."

I instinctively flinched even farther away, as if instinctively trying to protect it, pulling it back and hissing at him, my head still too fuzzy to even properly feel motion.

"Or… You can keep the egg…" He crossed his arms and glared at me sternly, lost in thought and only putting me more on edge.

"Go find Rune… And Vive… On second thought just tell my guild to come find me… I don't feel like walking through camp to get them…"

He sighed, scratching his head as he turned and left. "Alright…"

Finally left alone the tension in my body began to fade. 'After all this time… I'm me again… Just me…'
