How Did I Become an F1 Driver?

Chapter 27/29)

On the racetrack, Qin Miao did not slow down before T17. At this moment, there were only six cars on the track, and the traffic situation was much better compared to Q1 and Q2. Moreover, when Qin Miao was setting lap times, he didn't need to prepare, just as he told Alonso in the pre-race meeting, relying on intuition.

Exiting T18, Qin Miao had an ideal exit speed this time, with smooth acceleration and shifting rhythm, racing through T19, and then starting the flying lap of this race.

After passing T1, Qin Miao began his full throttle DRS sprint in eighth gear.

Even though Mercedes' top speed is inferior to Red Bull's this year, under Qin Miao's low drag setup, the top speed reached 320 km/h.

The braking point at T1 is hard to find because the inside view is low, lacking a good reference point, so one needs to look at the distance markers and brake accordingly.

Qin Miao specifically marked a tire print at T1 as a braking reference, performing heavy braking after passing it, resisting the G-force from behind while keeping his eyes on the track's entry point.

The more curbs you can use at the apex the better, as this turn does not involve aggressive acceleration, so there's no worry about losing control from using too much curb. But avoid the speed bump on the outside, as it will cause the car to bounce up.

After exiting T2, it's full throttle, so you can't use the curb on T3 because it's a full throttle pseudo turn, and touching it even slightly could cause the car to spin.

However, after T3, you can use the curbs because the next section is a full throttle straight, so there's no concern about losing grip.

The T4 pseudo turn can be ignored; just keep a good line, and as long as you manage the gear shift timing well, there will be no problem.

T5 is a high-speed turn, and the G-force at the apexes of T5 and T6 can reach 3.9G.

Prepare for the G-force in seventh gear entering T5, and to get a better exit line for T6, you can slow down early when entering T5.

Hug the curb at T5's apex, but after entry, don't immediately aim for T6's apex. Rather, keep driving towards the left side of the track, lightly tap the brakes to get a better exit line, and then steer.

The T6 apex still can't be used. This is again an acceleration exit, and the high curb could easily cause a spin if used.

After exiting T6, you can use the curbs extensively as long as all four wheels remain inside the white lines.

T7's V-shaped turn leaves a strong impression on Qin Miao, as he had lost countlessly at this turn when he started playing racing games with a controller.

However, now that he's actually driving a race car, this turn has become much easier to handle.

Enter in third gear; because it's an uphill, be slightly aggressive on the throttle to maintain rear wheel traction, hugging the apex. Once you can see the straight at the end, go full throttle.

Although T8 is a pseudo turn, it's nonetheless an uphill section, so it's necessary to follow the race car's track marks on the circuit.

T9 is slightly challenging due to the downhill turning, causing slight oversteer on entry and understeer at the apex.

Thus, Qin Miao doesn't rush to downshift upon entry, as downshifting would cause a temporary loss of grip on the rear wheels.

Upon entering T9 and encountering the understeering turn post-apex, Qin Miao only begins downshifting, countering the tail's instability to offset understeering, allowing the car to drift through the turn. This maneuver provides a minor speed advantage and greater coherence when exiting, improving driving comfort.

After exiting, it's full throttle, utilizing as much curb as possible to maximize exit speed.

Ignore the T10 pseudo turn, T11 is a full throttle corner, almost a pseudo turn, provided the correct angle and timely steering input are maintained, it can be easily tackled.

Even easing the throttle slightly at the apex doesn't significantly impact speed.

However, upon exiting T11 and approaching the short straight towards T12, forward shifting of brake bias is needed, quickly slowing and downshifting to third gear.

After exiting T12, the track narrows, generally unnoticed, warranting extra caution during entry and exit.

Upon marking the braking point and entering the turn, curbing can be used, but avoid the speed bump on the curb, maintaining right steering past the apex, utilizing the post-exit curb fully.

After T12, initially drive straight for a bit, regardless of the imminent off-track encounter, in order to gain enough traction and relative speed before pulling the car back onto the track right before going off.

Next, accelerate fully towards T14, decelerating and downshifting at 70 meters, before making a big angle entry. The curbs here can be used extensively as long as all four wheels don't trespass the white lines.

The same applies to T15, but post-exit, place the two right-side wheels onto the green area, as the slippery paint could cause grip deficiency if overused.

After the turn, it's full throttle past T16's pseudo turn, arriving at T17.

As it is a high-speed downhill, rearward brake bias adjustment and braking at 80 meters are required.

The apex curb can't be used, as it's too high, and since the car speed in this turn isn't slow, using it might cause a spin.

However, upon exit, the curb can be utilized extensively to gain faster exit speed and track width, but before entering T18, you'd need to steer the car off T17's exit curb.
