Ch 106: Bond Tampering

Castan's gaze rested on the notification in front of him.

And slowly, a dark grin cut across his face.

"Haha...."

He let out a quiet laugh, but then it grew into something evil.

Hysterical.

Sinister.

His voice echoed through the entire field, and after a long laugh, his gaze returned to Kieran.

"So you're the one! You've finally decided to come out!" Castan's dark gaze rested on Kieran.

His aura burst, a powerful pressure being directed straight towards Kieran.

'He looks just like that man. Those eyes...' Castan looked down on Kieran as his pressure bore down on him.

To him, Kieran was insignificant.

He could barely even sense any Aetheris coming from him.

"Now I understand why the Phoenix came alone. And here I was getting scared for nothing... You don't even have any power to face me. You barely have any Aetheris on you." Castan didn't know whether to laugh or cry when looking at Kieran.

Kieran ran his hand through his hair. 'I guess Amaya's abilities are very useful. I'm surprised it can even work on him despite his level.' He patted the little cat on the head.

Amaya meowed in response.

'I don't want you getting injured, so can you hide for a bit?' he used the transmission to ask the little beast.

Amaya looked at him with beast eyes, then nodded her small head.

Instantly, she dispersed into a cloud of black smoke before sinking into his hands, forming a black tattoo.

Kieran turned his gaze back to Castan, their gazes locked.

He momentarily stopped his onslaught, finally allowing the two divine beasts to get a breather.

"Are you going to surrender, or do you want me to do it the hard way?" Castan asked.

Kieran ran his hand through his hair again. "Well, I wouldn't want to disturb a sister-brother reunion. Who am I?" he replied bluntly with a shrug.

Castan scoffed at his reply. He turned his head back to Mira, who held her whip firmly in her hand with eyes bright with determination.

He slowly shifted his head to Kara. "Kara, I'll give you one more chance... I'll forgive you for your rebellion. Take care of my dear sister and I'll only leave you with a light punishment."

Kara remained in her position, unmoving.

She didn't even reply. 'There's no point in working for him.... He's never treated me well, it doesn't matter now,' Kara thought, stealing a glance at Kieran who stood by her side.

'And besides, this boy.... He'd kill me before I even move.'

Kara felt a chill run down her spine as she looked at Kieran's blank face.

He stuck his hands into his nose, picking his nose, unbothered by what was happening.

'How can someone so average have that much power.... He's a monster.' She felt all the hairs on her body stand.

It was as though she could feel his flames all over her body again.

The hot flames that burnt brighter than even the sun.

'He shouldn't fight here... If he does, I doubt even Castan can stop him.' Kara swallowed hard at the thought of having Kieran fight.

Kieran didn't fail to notice the sphinx flinch.

'She's still scared about my powers.... Even I was shocked,' Kieran thought, his mind reeling back to what happened in the castle...

"I'm the bastard," Kieran said as his flames came to life.

Suddenly, a notification screen popped up in front of him.

Suddenly the flames in his hands grew fiercely, the heat within the castle spiking up instantly. The walls seemed to melt under the intense heat and everyone flinched in the presence of the intense heat.

"Do you want to burn us all?!" Karin shouted from the back.

'Shit.' Kieran quickly turned down the flames.

'What's this energy....' Kieran could feel the strange energy flowing through his veins.

All his mana was instantly recovered... Almost as though he just woke up from a long rest.

'This is amazing, but I can't even control my mana right now. How do I deal with her?'

He quickly turned to look at Kara, wondering how he would deal with the beast without burning the entire castle along with her.

But as he turned, he could see the sphinx staring at him with fear.

A deep fear that stemmed from the very core of her being.

Unfettered, primal fear.

'Those flames... How does he control a flame more powerful than that of the Phoenix... This is absurd!'

Let alone attack, she couldn't even go near those flames.

While the others couldn't sense it, she did.

The Aetheris within the flames.

They didn't just conjure up a normal flame... They conjured life.

For that brief moment while the flame existed, she could see it dancing atop Kieran's palms.

It formed a demonic smile, almost as though waiting to devour her and grow.

'What was that?' She couldn't shake off the unnerving feeling.

Kieran, however, saw an escape route with her fear.

"I'll repeat myself again. I don't want to fight you, but if you force my hand then I won't have any choice either."

Kara bit her lips. She was an arrogant lion.

A lion would never bow its head to anyone weaker than herself.

They respected strength and Kieran?

He had showed strength far greater than what she had imagined.

She knew she wouldn't stand a chance fighting against him.

'And that bastard took a chunk of my energy.' Kara felt all her energy drained.

"Alright... But I can't help you against Castan. I can't go against his command. So I'm afraid a fight is inevitable," Kara said after a moment of thought.

Even if she wanted to, with her bond with Castan then she had no other choice than to do as he commanded.

"Hmm, that should be because of your bond with him, right?" Kieran asked, his gaze shifting down to the system screen in front of him.
