Reincarnated as the Elder's son: My Infinite Shop Points System

Chapter 64: Smart phone and trade.

Lucy calmly placed the box in front of the merchant while kneeling down at the same time.

Walking into the room was a group of cat women who followed behind her.

They dropped boxes, setting them down for the merchant to observe as he pleaded.

The boxes were neither big nor small. They were definitely not light enough for one to carry with just one hand.

While the merchant was surprised at the quantity of goods being set in front of him, he still wondered what they could possibly be to be this numerous.

At best, he was hoping for them to give him some holy water. Although he could see the holy water, the rest didn't look to be anything like that.

"There you have it. The goods you requested," Jared uttered, arms folded as he watched.

Swallowing hard, Simon reached out for the first box, slowly dragging it closer.

Now within his range, he opened it.

The bright light from within the box shone on his face the moment he made contact with what was inside.

A different type of rare material.

It was beautiful and classy, unlike anything he had ever seen before.

"What in God's name is this..."

Simon picked up one of the diamonds, staring at it as if he was looking at the entire universe.

Just from touching it, he could tell how hard it was, though he still fed his curiosity by biting on it.

Soon after, his gaze turned to the next box.

Jared merely remained where he was, choosing not to interfere with the merchant's study.

Opening the next box, Simon was even more surprised.

He could see even smaller boxes with a small circular button at the bottom of their frames. They looked lifeless, but he could already tell they had to be something extraordinary.

After opening all the boxes, he realized there were only two types of items: the glowing, pretty rocks and the small boxes.

"Sorry, I have a question—"

Simon raised his hand.

"Yes..." Jared replied.

"What exactly is this called?"

"It's a diamond. Ten times more valuable than gold."

Simon was truly in shock.

Even if Jared was lying about its value, seeing how beautiful and high-quality it was, there was no doubt it would become valuable.

And since it was not as common as gold, its rarity would make it surpass gold.

"May I know how you got this?"

"The goddess."

"I'm sorry?"

"The goddess. She blessed me with them and requested I sell them for the betterment of my people," Jared replied.

[The goddess of trades is impressed at your ability to lie with a straight face.]

'I don't care.'

Simon made sure to read Olsen's face, and all it told him was, 'Jared is a different breed; don't try to understand him.'

In fact, it wasn't just Olsen; even the women around Jared had the same look on their faces.

"T... the goddess, s-she gifts you regularly with this?" Simon asked half-heartedly.

"Yes."

".... I see." He suddenly didn't have that shocked expression on his face anymore. He accepted the fact that he was in a strange place and a strange situation.

As a merchant, he shouldn't let that affect his business.

"I'll have to take this material back to the capital for testing. I believe we can use this diamond, as you called it, to make fine accessories for women and maybe even armor and weapons. It looks hard enough, almost as hard as steel."

"How much do you think it can be sold for?"

"That depends on how the nobles view the product. If they like it, it can go a long way. If I were to give an estimate, I'd say about 15–40 gold eres per piece, since it's rare and people would want to get their hands on the first batch."

Jared's eyes widened a bit.

'15–40 gold eres?'

And here he was thinking anything more than 5 gold eres would be too much.

If they were willing to pay this much for a fake diamond, how much would they pay for the smartphone?

'I need to play my cards right.'

Simon moved to the next product.

"As for this..."

He raised it up a bit, trying to look into the screen. "Is this supposed to be some kind of mirror?"

"No, that is a smartphone."

"What is a phone? Smart? Is it a deity?" Olsen chimed in, picking up a phone for himself.

"I guess you can call it that. It's more likely an ancient artifact used by the gods a very long time ago.

It has many magical properties, for example..."

Jared began listing them.

"With this smartphone, you can capture a moment in time and keep it safe. It's capable of producing light on its own, it can be used for directions, and many other things. I can assure you it's perfect."

"I didn't understand a single thing you said. What do you mean, capture a moment in time?" asked Olsen.

"I'm sorry, Sir Jared, I also don't understand."

"That is expected. Lucy..."

Lucy immediately responded to her master.

She stood to her feet and picked up a phone.

First, she switched it on by long-pressing the buttons on the side.

Once the phone was on, the apps immediately appeared on the screen.

"I'll demonstrate how it works. Please pay attention."

Lucy clicked on the camera app, and then—

Chakam!

The light flashed.

Orlando was the first to act, drawing his blade as he immediately stood up from where he was seated.

Olsen and Simon had the same reaction, except unlike Orlando, their instincts weren't as sharp.

Before they could question what had happened, Lucy turned the screen toward them.

"As you can see, I have captured your moment in time and saved it in this artifact."

The three of them pulled their gazes closer.

As Lucy had told them, they were indeed pictured on the phone, their image staring back at them.

"Incredible," Simon blurted out.

No one had ever heard of an artifact that could take pictures. It was unheard of.

Other than having your picture drawn by an artist, there was no other way to have an image of yourself from the past.

'This man has this much power at his disposal and chooses to waste it here? Just what in the hell are you, Jared Hunter?' Olsen whispered to himself.

"Show them the rest," Jared uttered from behind.

And Lucy did just that.

She showed them the rest of the features the smartphone could do.

One of them was using magic to register phones and make a phone call with them.

There was also video recording and sending messages from one magic phone to another.

To Jared, these were all things he was used to in his former world, but to them, it felt like they had taken several steps into the future.

"This is amazing. I have never seen anything like this in all my life of trading. I'm speechless—no, I'm impressed. You are... incredible, Mr. Jared Hunter," said Simon while holding the smartphone.

Jared really didn't care for the compliments. His focus was on one thing and one thing only.

"How much can this be sold for?" he asked.

"There's no doubt the nobles would kill to have this. We also don't want it to be accessible to just anyone yet. I guess I'll have to put it up for a bid first at the upcoming Gala, starting with a price of probably 20,000 gold eres."

Cough!

Jared found himself choking on his own spit from the shock of hearing the price.

Olsen froze like a statue.

"Lord Jared?" Kaira patted his back.

"Could you repeat that? I'm not sure I heard that right."

Yeah, there was no way he heard 20,000 gold eres, right?

"I said I'll make a bid for around 20,000 eres. Is that too small? I assure you, even I have never sold anything this expensive. I feel the price is quite reasonable."

"20,000 eres. Yeah... it's reasonable."

'Reasonable my ass, I feel like I'm scamming them.'

Jared bought one smartphone from the system for 10,000 sp, and now he wanted to sell it for 20,000 gold eres. That's basically free money.

Not to mention, in this world, 20,000 gold eres was quite a lot. He was practically rich.

Jared sat back down.

"Good. Let's go with that price."

Simon's face lit up.

"Thank you. I promise you won't regret working with me."

"I hope so. Here... for further business together."

Jared threw the rolled-up paper at the man.

"What is this?" Simon asked.

To which Olsen then replied in Jared's stead.

"It's a contract. As you would have it, good ol' Jared Hunter likes to make sure the people he works with stay in line by signing a contract with them."

Jared simply kept a smile on his face.

"Oh, a contract. I thought only the king used one of these. Sure, no problem, I'll sign it."

Olsen opened up the contract to read what was inside.
