Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time

Chapter 412: A Bounty Of Spirit Herbs And Fruits

Seeing that the rat was fine, Fatty Kui stretched his hands greedily toward a glowing fruit, but Wu Shuan smacked his wrist. "Wait for Senior Brother Duan to check first, idiot!"

Senior Brother Duan stepped up, reached out, and plucked a single fruit.

The moment the stem snapped, the entire garden seemed to hold its breath. For one tense heartbeat, everyone waited for the ground to crack open, for hidden beasts to pounce, for lethal arrays to activate.

But nothing happened.

Duan inspected the fruit carefully, then split it open with his nail. A faint spiritual mist wafted out, and even from a distance Han Yu could feel the condensed qi within it. Duan's lips curved into a rare smile. "Spirit fruits. Pure, undamaged, and full of essence."

Fatty Kui's hands trembled as he held back from lunging. "Brother Duan… please say the word… please say the word…"

Han Yu could not resist a smirk. "If he doesn't say the word, Fatty Kui might actually explode."

Finally, Duan nodded. "Pick them. But be cautious and don't destroy the plants. We'll take only what we can carry. We can probably send the Herb Division Disciples to properly relocate the plants later."

Fatty Kui roared in joy and rushed toward the vines like a starving beast.

Wu Shuan rolled his eyes and muttered, "We're more likely to die from his greed than the tomb's traps."

Han Yu shook his head with a small laugh.

But deep down, he knew this was only the beginning. For such treasures to exist, there had to be a deeper purpose behind this garden's preservation.

And something told him that purpose was not going to be kind to them.

Having chided Fatty Kui, Wu Shuan's sharp gaze swept across the garden, but even his usual caution softened at the abundance before them. "A place like this is no accident. Whoever built this tomb invested vast resources. The spiritual soil alone must be enriched by formation methods."

Chitterfang, perched smugly on a root, squeaked and began nibbling at a sprout without concern for propriety. Han Yu shook his head but allowed it. After all, the little beast was their guide, and a bite or two would hardly dent such abundance.

The others turned toward Han Yu almost at once.

Wu Shuan was the first to speak. "Junior Brother Han, you are from the Alchemy Peak. You should know what these are. What use do they have, and how should they be harvested? We dare not damage something valuable out of ignorance."

Fatty Kui bobbed his head rapidly, eyes fixed on the glowing fruits like a starving man at a banquet. "Yes, yes, Brother Han, hurry and tell us! Which ones are safe to eat right away, which ones will boost our cultivation, and which ones will make me keel over foaming at the mouth?"

Han Yu had already begun examining the plants the moment they entered.

His eyes moved calmly from stalk to stalk, from vine to shrub, cataloguing features, comparing leaf structures, and testing Spirit Qi fluctuations. He raised a finger and pointed toward a cluster of round golden fruits glowing softly on a tree at the garden's edge.

"These are called Radiant Ember Pears. They are excellent for Qi Refining disciples and still useful to those in Core Condensation. Consuming one will provide a burst of Fire elemental Qi and improve circulation of meridians.

They must be harvested carefully, however, as the stems are sensitive. Twist too harshly, and the fruit loses half its potency within minutes. Store them in jade boxes, preferably insulated against heat loss."

Fatty Kui clapped his hands in delight. "Good! Good! Pears that burn with fire. I could eat a dozen of those right now!"

"Eat one," Han Yu corrected sharply. "Eat a dozen, and you will rupture your meridians. The fruits are potent but dangerous in excess."

Wu Shuan nodded approvingly. "What else?"

Han Yu's gaze shifted to a vine curling around a support stone, bearing translucent fruits shaped like teardrops. Their flesh pulsed faintly, as if filled with tiny flowing streams.

"Those are Azure Stream Grapes. A single cluster can be shared among a group. They enhance spiritual awareness temporarily, sharpening one's perception during meditation. Best consumed fresh, but if stored, they must be kept in sealed clay jars with Spirit Qi isolating runes carved on the surface to preserve their essence."

Senior Brother Duan's lips curved faintly at that, his eyes betraying interest. "Useful for improving one's comprehension during cultivation sessions. Quite a decent find."

Han Yu continued his survey, his expression calm yet intent.

He pointed at another tree with dark crimson fruits shaped like small lanterns.

"Blood Flame Berries. They rapidly restore Qi after heavy expenditure. Best for prolonged battles or after heavy use of techniques. However, their energy is volatile. One should not consume more than one or two in a day."

The group listened intently as Han Yu moved from plant to plant. His voice carried the steady tone of one accustomed to study and recitation, yet beneath it lay a subtle authority that even Senior Brother Duan acknowledged.

He stopped at a bush of pale green fruits shaped like curled horns. "These are Verdant Horn Melons. Gentle in nature, they provide steady growth to a cultivator's foundation. They spoil quickly after harvest, losing effectiveness within three days unless sealed in wax-lined jars.

Best to consume them right away and give away the rest. Consuming more than one doesn't bring benefit anyways." He added.

Hearing that, Fatty Kui had already moved into action and plucked one of the melons, ready to bite into it. Han Yu ignored it as he moved on to the next herb.

He gestured toward a patch of herbs with silvery leaves. "Moonpetal Herbs. When brewed, they produce a calming tea that stabilizes Qi fluctuations, useful when a disciple's cultivation threatens to become unstable. Common, but valuable when needed."

"Ah yeah, I've seen these planted in our sect too." Senior Brother Duan nodded.
