Strongest Scammer: Scamming The World, One Death At A Time

Chapter 448: Checking The Books

With this 'Profound' yet 'simple' principle guiding them, the disciples began to scour the shelves, each person pulling down books and slips, skimming through the content, and setting aside the ones that felt unusual, complicated, or incomprehensible.

Meanwhile, Xuan Qing had already taken the responsibility of informing the sect through her communication jade slip.

The message had been long and detailed, recording not only their discovery but also the traps they had encountered, the formations that lined the halls, and the passages they had cleared.

By the time the elders arrived, they would have a mapped-out route and a clear sense of the dangers that lay in wait. The weight of responsibility seemed to lift slightly from the group, knowing that help would soon arrive.

For now though, their focus remained firmly on the treasure in front of them.

Han Yu's heart was beating a little faster than usual as he combed through the shelves. An anxious excitement ran through him. These were no ordinary texts. Every book he picked up carried the weight of lost centuries, knowledge that could change the path of his alchemy forever.

He also knew, however, that once the sect formally cataloged everything, his access would be limited.

While he would be rewarded and certainly allowed to study some of the more significant works, he would not be the only one. Other alchemists of the sect, especially those already in the Inner Court or favored by elders, would compete with him for time and permission.

Bureaucracy was unavoidable.

There would be waiting lists, disputes over who was allowed to study what, and restrictions on how long someone could hold on to a specific jade slip. That was why it was better for him to secure what seemed most valuable right now.

He ignored books he already recognized from the sect's libraries, brushing past titles and familiar formulas he had read before. Personal journals and scattered insights from long-dead alchemists, while sometimes useful, were also set aside.

They could be read later, but for now they would only waste time.

Instead, he narrowed his focus to what truly mattered: compendiums of pill formulas, books on rare herbs, and records of refinement methods. These were things that could provide him with direct insights and expand the foundations of his craft.

To increase his stamina and clarity, Han Yu slipped a Qi Replenishing Pill into his mouth, followed by a Vital Surge Pill. His qi swelled and his fatigue eased, sharpening his mind. With renewed vigor, he worked with swift precision.

it was the same as a University student binging energy drinks the night before finals. Thankfully, unlike a certain someone, Han Yu was not going to overdose and die from it.

After nearly two hours of relentless searching, his efforts bore fruit.

He set aside around thirty books, five jade slips, and a handful of scrolls and parchment records. The books contained collections of pill recipes, insights into rare herbs that no longer grew in common lands, and treatises on cultivation-supporting medicines.

These alone would make him invaluable in the eyes of the sect.

But the true treasures were the five jade slips. Each one pulsed faintly when pressed against his forehead, feeding streams of information into his consciousness. Han Yu's eyes widened again and again as he realized what he was holding.

The first jade slip described a method called The Furnace Heart Tempering Technique.

It was an advanced breathing and concentration method for alchemists, designed to stabilize one's spiritual qi while refining high-grade pills. The technique was said to reduce the chances of failure when working with volatile ingredients.

The second jade slip held The Harmonization Cycle of Nine Breaths, a technique that allowed an alchemist to synchronize their internal qi flow with the fluctuations of the cauldron flame. Mastering it would let the practitioner merge perfectly with the refinement process, ensuring smoother reactions between herbs.

The third jade slip was perhaps even more valuable, containing a skill called Spirit Thread Manipulation. It detailed a way to weave spiritual sense into thin threads that could enter the cauldron and monitor the herbs on a microscopic level.

With it, an alchemist could prevent critical errors, even adjusting the refinement in real time. While it seemed similar to the usual method that most cultivators used, this technique allowed them to condense the Spirit sense into actual corporeal threads.

The fourth jade slip described The Cauldron Soul Anchoring Method, an art that allowed one to stabilize cauldrons under immense strain, preventing explosions or backlash during high-tier pill refinement.

The fifth jade slip was the most mysterious.

It was titled The Reversal of Ashes Sutra, and its fragmented passages spoke of restoring failed concoctions. It claimed that with enough mastery, an alchemist could even salvage ruined pills and reshape them into usable medicines.

Though incomplete, the potential of such a technique was staggering.

Han Yu's hands trembled slightly as he pulled the jade slip away from his forehead.

The knowledge contained within these five slips was enough to elevate the alchemy of the Twin Leaf Peak Sect by leaps and bounds. Even if he only managed to master half of what was written, it would transform his future.

Around him, the others were also making piles of what they believed to be important.

Fatty Kui had discovered several texts that listed rare herbs and their properties, and though he did not understand most of it, he knew from the difficulty of the passages that they were valuable.

Wu Shuan had stumbled across a bundle of scrolls sealed in protective wax that described the growth cycles of spirit plants. She Ming found books that delved into the fusion of elemental attributes in pills.

Each discovery was set aside carefully, forming a growing collection in the center of the chamber. The disciples looked at the pile with both awe and reverence.

Xuan Qing returned from a quick circuit of the hall, nodding with satisfaction. "The elders will be pleased. With the records of the traps and the path we took, they should be able to arrive here without much delay. What we have set aside will mark us as the ones who contributed most to this discovery."
